Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba has spoken up on his side’s 2-1 Premier League win over Everton on Sunday evening.

Goals from Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial ensured victory for Jose Mourinho’s side.

Gylfi Sigurdsson’s lone strike was not enough to get a point for the visitors.

Pogba said United won against Everton because they needed to win after losing 1-0 against Juventus in the Champions League and also playing a 2-2 draw with Chelsea last weekend in the Premier League encounter.

“I think after the lost against Juventus and the draw with Chelsea so we know that we needed to win against Everton,” Pogba told Sky Sports.

He added, “I was lucky I scored today. But for me the most important thing was the win today.”

“I always like to show and surprise everybody. Martial did well and everybody played well. I always like to play to find a solution for my team.”

Man United will take on Bournemouth in their next Premier League fixture on Saturday afternoon.

Former Liverpool star, Jamie Carragher, has revealed three possible replacements for Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.
The former Premier League star listed England boss Gareth Southgate as one of the key contenders.

He also named former United star, Ryan Giggs and Tottenham boss, Mauricio Pochettino.

“There is much to encourage with Gareth Southgate’s work with England, but it has still never been more difficult for an Englishman to get a top-six job,” Liverpool legend Carragher told The Telegraph.

“If Mourinho leaves Manchester United any time soon, will Southgate be a contender to replace him? No.

“Will the Wales job truly be the catalyst for Giggs to go back to Old Trafford?

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced that 2019 registered voters will be displayed at various polling units across Nigeria on the 6th of November, 2018.

The electoral body disclosed this on its verified Twitter page, urging Nigerians to report names of dead persons found on the register.

INEC added that voters register will be made available as from 6th till 12th November.

The tweet read: “As part of the ongoing preparations for the 2019 General Elections, I wish to announce in advance that the register of voters for each polling unit will be displayed at the polling units nationwide for one week from 6th – 12th November 2018 for claims and objections.

“The Commission will also appreciate the assistance of citizens in identifying deceased persons on the register so that such names can be nulled from our record. It is also an opportunity to correct misspellings of personal details such as names, age, and gender.

“Ownership of the register by citizens and their involvement in cleaning it up is crucial to our electoral process. I urge citizens to help the Commission during the display. Full details of the procedure for collecting citizens observations will be released later.”

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr was at the receiving end of the wrath of pick pockets at the end of the Aiteo Cup Final between Enugu Rangers and Kano Pillars.

Rohr watched the game live at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State Nigeria and according to the coach his pocket was picked on his way out of the stadium as various people make their way out after the game.
Valuables like his smartphone and immigration documents were among the items picked from the Franco-German coach ‎and he has pleaded with whoever is behind it to return them as a handsome reward awaits whoever returns the items.

“I lost my wallet containing my Samsung 8 and my visa visiting card just after the Aiteo Cup final in Asaba on Wednesday.

“I was trying to exit the stadium but the fans were many pushing and running up and down. So I didn’t know the time my wallet was stolen.

I am appealing to whoever took it to please return it to me because I am also a Nigerian by working with our darling Super Eagles.

“The documents are very vital for my work with the Eagles and the Nigeria Football Federation. We still have many qualifying and other friendly matches to play and I won’t be able to do the work without the items. The Kano State House of Assembly Investigative Committee on the bribery allegation against Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has said it will also investigate evidences presented.

Publisher of Daily Nigerian, Jaafar Jaafar, appeared before the committee on Thursday and insisted on the authenticity of the video clips.

Chairman of the panel, Babba Dan Agundi, said, “We will invite Jaafar and his lawyers again; we will give the Governor’s side the right to analyse the video.

“We shall also bring an independent experts not known to Jaafar and the Governor to also analyse the video.

“We will invite all the parties and our own independent experts to look at this issue.

“We are here to ensure that justice is done to everybody involved in this issue.”

On cross-examination by Kano Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Jaafar explained: “We invited the officials of the Amnesty International who certified the video.”

On the identity of the whistle blower, Jafar said, “in the spirit of universal principles of confidentiality, we cannot disclose our source.”

Jaafar who was accompanied by two lawyers, Bar. Isaac Ambode and Bar. Adam Bashir, arrived the premises around 1:15pm, under tight security.

Meanwhile, A.A. Umar and Co, a law firm which earlier agreed to offer legal services to Jaafar, withdrew their services in a letter sent to the Committee, citing “personal reasons.”

Known by her nickname China Nicky, the winner of television series Big Brother is being talked about across Sierra Leone’s offices, bars, restaurants, transports and classrooms.

During her street parade celebrating her victory, thousands lined the streets waving to her. Speaking to the BBC afterwards, she said:

Manchester United is open to selling Alexis Sanchez during the transfer window in January, with the forward keen on joining French giants, Paris Saint-Germain.

Sanchez joined the Red Devils in a player-swap deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan join Arsenal.

The Chilean earns around £400,000-a-week at Old Trafford but has just netted four goal and has been dropped by Jose Mourinho in recent weeks.

The 29-year-old had been linked with a move to PSG in January but the Ligue 1 giants were not in position to fund Sanchez’s wages after their record transfer on Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

However, Sanchez’s representatives are now exploring a possible move once again and United are open to selling him, according to the Mirror.

PSG are one of the few clubs in the world that could afford to pay Sanchez’s wages.
Sanchez missed United’s 1-0 Champions League defeat to Juventus with an unspecified injury and it’s unclear if he’ll return for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Everton.

Rivers State Givernor, Nyesom Wike, has called on prominent indigenes and Nigerians to stop de-marketing the state.

Speaking during the commissioning of the Port Harcourt International Airport Terminal on Thursday by President Muhammadu Buhari, Wike said that it was in the best interest of the entire South-South region, for investments to flow into Rivers State.

“I urge all of us who are from Rivers State and others from Nigeria to market Rivers State and not de-market it.

“With this people will come and invest in the state. Other airlines will also operate from this airport,” the Governor said.

Governor Wike also assured that Rivers State is safe and secure for investments, hence the execution of key projects without hitches.

“What has happened today showcases the fact that Rivers State is safe, Rivers State is secure for people to invest.

“If Rivers State is not safe, CCECC will not complete this project,” he added.

Wike urged Buhari to complete the domestic terminal of the Port Harcourt International Airport in line with his pledge.

I am very pleased to formally commission the new International Terminal of the Port Harcourt Airport, Omagwa today. This ceremony represents a significant landmark for International air travelers, particularly from the South-South region, and the entire Country.

2. You will recall that after opening the major airport terminals in the country in the late 70s and early 80s, not much was added to increase the passenger handling capacity of these facilities by successive administrations.

3. Following the large increase in the national population with consequent surge in air passenger traffic, the capacity of the airport terminals became woefully inadequate to cater for the increase in passenger traffic.

4. Although, palliative measures were periodically carried out, the facilities were fast giving-in to the effects of wear and tear. It therefore became necessary to take decisive action to ensure our terminals meet minimum international standards for the travelling public.

5. The Federal Government responded to a global trend in which aviation became a catalyst for economic growth as a result of massive and speedy movement of persons, goods and services in a safe and secure manner.

6. As part of the infrastructure renewal program, the construction of four new international terminals at Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt and Kano airports was embarked upon by the Federal Government with a view to modernising the aging airport infrastructure to meet global aviation standards and improved service delivery in tandem with best international practices.

7. At the presentation of the 2017 Budget to the National Assembly, I promised to upgrade and develop Nigeria’s transport, power and health infrastructure, and complete a number of stalled infrastructure projects.

8. These include construction of new terminals at the country’s five major airports; numerous major road projects; key power transmission projects; and the completion of the Kaduna – Abuja as well as Itakpe to Warri Railway lines.

9. Nigeria having an advantageous central location within the sub-region and our desire to develop into a regional air transportation hub must upgrade its facilities to take advantage of its assets. The recent decision by the Federal Government to remove Value Added Tax from domestic air transportation is in line with global best practices.

10. This will make air travel more affordable and subsequently lead to the creation of jobs by the air transport service value chain as well as increase revenues for government.

11. Today’s commissioning is an example of Government’s deliberate policy to sustain the development of infrastructure for economic growth in all geo-political zones of the country.

12. I, therefore, wish to commend the people of the South-South Region and airport users for their patience during the period of construction.

13. Let me also praise the efforts of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, particularly Aviation, the Chinese government and the China Exim Bank for their financial support and the various roles they played leading to the successful completion of this project. I also wish to say well done to the contractor, Messrs CCECC for timely service delivery.

14. It is therefore with great pleasure that I commission the new International Terminal building of Port Harcourt International Airport.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has extended the deadline for registration of corps members at the various camps to Saturday, Oct. 27.

The circular dated Oct. 24, was sent to all state coordinators of NYSC signed on behalf of the NYSC Director-General, Brig-Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, by Mrs. R. B Ohakwu.

The memo stated that the extension was as a result of a passionate request from the University of Ilorin, to allow prospective corps members from the institution attend their convocation ceremonies.

“So, Unilorin graduates who have been mobilised for the NYSC still have up to Saturday, Oct. 27, to report at their various NYSC camps all over the federation,” it said.

Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome took office in 2013.

Lagos, Nigeria (CNN) — Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome submitted a letter of resignation on Wednesday to the country's parliament, according to state media reports.

Teshome, 63, took office in 2013 and had often spoken for a more democratic and inclusive government in the Horn of Africa country, which has faced political upheaval and unrest for many years.

The office of the Prime Minister leads Ethiopia's government and policy.

Lawmakers in the upper and lower houses of the country's parliament will meet to consider Teshome's resignation on Thursday, Ethiopia's News Agency reported.

Teshome is a member of the Oromo People's Democratic Organization, one of the four parties of the ruling coalition Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front.

Teshome had previously taken ministerial and high-level diplomatic positions, representing the country in Japan and Azerbaijan.

He was Ethiopia's ambassador to Turkey before he was unanimously appointed president.

Teshome's resignation comes after a political Cabinet reshuffle by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed that began last week and has seen half of the country's ministerial seats occupied by women.

Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, has named a strong squad for Thursday’s Europa League clash at Sporting Lisbon.

The National Organizing Secretary, NOS, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Col. Austin Akobundu (retd) has said that the rumoured defection of the Deputy Senate President, DSP, Senator Ike Ekweremadu to the All Progressives Congress, APC, was the handiwork of mischief makers.

The NOS, in a statement he signed on Wednesday, said, “Ekweremadu is PDP body and soul and is not leaving the party to anywhere”.

He stated that Senator Ekweremadu has made enormous contributions to the party especially during its trying period and “cannot leave at this time when the party has been rebranded and is soaring high to regain power in the country in 2019”.

Akobundu continued: “Senator Ekweremadu who is holding the highest political office in the region is thinking of how to galvanize the geo-political area to massively vote out APC and block any other party in the region.

“Intelligence available to the PDP shows that even those who erroneously joined the APC from the area are now full of regrets with some of them even contemplating a return.”

The NOS charged members of the public particularly members of the party in the South-East not to be distracted but continue in their mobilization to vote in the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to victory in 2019 and help rescue the country’s democracy.
