WHY MOYES FAILED AS MAN UTD MANAGER TODAY · Why Moyes Failed as Man Utd Boss Old trafford and Manchester United will be welcoming a known visitor for the first time since April 2014. David Moyes' reign as Man Utd boss lasted just 10months even though he was handed a 6 year contract and many pundits have had their say on why Moyes didn't live up to the club's expectation. Moyes had spent an astonishing 11 years as manager of Everton and was trusted to do a great job at United even though he never won a trophy there. His record of ensuring that they were in the top half of the table given his extreemly small transfer budget made him a likely succesor to Sir Alex Ferguson. Moyes was appointed barely 48 hours after Sir Alex Ferguson announced his retirement and even though he knew it was a tough path to follow he acted too slowly. His first error was underestimating the size of the job and over estimating his credentials. Once the season begins to wrap up, diligent managers usually ensure that their summer transfer targets are contacted so as to get them ready for preseason. But the Scot failed to do so but surprising went on a one month holiday which would end at the start of the preason. On resumption he announced that he will be dropping some of the staffs who worked with Sir Alex Ferguson and bring in his own men. Sir Alex's assistant Micky Phelan and first team coach Rene Maulensteen was replaced with Everton coaches who had no experience at big clubs neither had they won a tangible trophy in their carrers. One would think that a man who had no trophy as manager would listen to the advice of his predecessor who won multiple trophies. Moyes wanted to be his own man and he proved that when he won the community shied and said '' This is a trophy for Sir Alex Ferguson, because he got us here. I want to build my own dynasty''. Moyes spent most of his transfer time targetting unrealistic players. He had no impressive CV to attract world class players neither did he have an impressive football style worthy of luring the best but he still went ahead chasing big names. The first omen was when Thiago Alacantara changed his mind about joining United and rather followed his Barcelona icon Guardiola to Bayern Munich. He immediately moved for Fabregas who was at Barcelona, his dream club but failed. Moyes also recently claimed that he tried to bring back Cristiano Ronaldo to the club and even made a £99 million bid for Gareth Bale. But when it was increasingly clear that things would not work as planned, he could have looked for other option but he failed to do so leaving other clubs to sign them at United's detriment. It was one of the worst transfer windows ever and he finally brought his former player Maroune Fellaini for a whopping £27million on deadline day. The windows closed and the international break resumed with an embarrising 4-1 loss to City. Moyes hammered his players describing them as girls. The champions league draws were out and rather than stay positive he hammered his players again saying '' Man Utd need six world class players to win the champions league''. He banned the players from taking chips a night before games and this upset alot of them. He initially played a good attacking play but when things didnt work, he turned United to an Everton side playing long balls and crossings. United fumbled terribly and star playes became unhappy. Robin Van Persie was rumored to be unhappy with the training methods and when he began to get injured, he handed a transfer request which the club denied. As the months went by Moyes did not change or heed the warning of coach and player Ryan Giggs that players were unhappy with his approach. United were knocked out of the FA Cup in the new year by Swansea city and lost to Sunderland on penalties in the Capital one cup Semi final. When it was looking clear that a top four would be impossible, he recruited Juan Mata from Chelsea for £37million and still went ahead playing long balls. Man United were held at Old trafford by relegation struggling team Fulham and they notched up 88 crosses in the game. The highest ever in EPL history. Caretaker manager of Fulham Maulensteen said after the match '' it would be easy playing United if this is how they play ''. Club captain Nemenja Vidic announced that he will leave at the end of the season and some players mocked the manager when he was found reading a motivational book on a plane United suffered more defeats against rival teams and Moyes responded after the 3-0 defeat to Man City '' We are aspiring to be like City'' an insult to a club that had won 20 Epl titles. And when Brendan Rodgers Liverpool were visiting Old trafford. Moyes said '' Liverpool are favourites'' the time was already ticking for him and when United were knocked out of the Champions League it was almost done. Man United then travelled to Everton. Moyes' former club who were enjoying new Manager Roberto Martinez sitting 5th on the table and playing sweet attacking soccer. Moyes was given a harsh reception and United were also beaten. Mathematically united couldn't be in the champions league and rumours were flying that Moyes had been shown the door. The rumours were indeed true and United fired him and put Ryan Giggs in charge. Moyes had a chance of being a good manager had he listened to good councel and made his players feel good about themselves and this led to his doom. Should he come to Oldtrafford, he will be out to sting back at his old employers but it wouldn't matter if he does. |

Over the course of time most clergies and moral sounding persons have given sticks to those involved in Nairabet, branding them as Lazy and frivolous people looking for quick and easy money, however since the recession issue hit Nigeria, many have enrolled in Ponzi schemes to alleviate their hunger. I was abit concerned that even Clergies are registering members and the question is. What makes Nairabet players lazy and Ponzi scheme Players hard working when you consider that the bet player does alot of thinking and analysis, also give his money to win the lot while the Ponzi players only give their money and make alot of money too. Is it fair calling Nairabet Players lazy even now? |
The Man Utd manager was appointed with great expectations and hope that he would revive the 20 times champions back to winning ways but defeats and poor performances now means he has collected fewer points than his predecessors at this stage and many are wondering if his special touch and magic have waned. Mourinho in his last few years has won fewer trophies than before. Having endured a difficult spell in Real Madrid, winning just one La Liga and loosing a heavy 5 goal margin in the El-classico. In his second spell at Stamford bridge, he went trophyless on his first campaign and won the league cup and English domestic division. Many have said that they played well for just 5 months and were fortunated to win the League. He was sacked in his next season after loosing nine times in 16 matches, the last was againts English Champions Leicester. However Man Utd still had the belief he was the right man to steer them to a previous height but so far things have been akward. The portuguese only recently lost three consecutive games for the first time in 12 years of management and today on his return to his former side, an a stadium he recorded fewer losses than any, he has suffered another shocking defeat, loosing 4-0 nil to Chelsea, his second heaviest defeat of his carrer. Man utd fans are now in doubt as to if they can qualifiy for Europe top club competition or if the glory days are over. Should they fail, it would mark a significant drop in Jose Mourinho's reputation as a master tactician and the world will ask '' Is Mourinho on the decline''? |
The Day Manchester Will Never Forget Five Years ago on this day, English football witnessed one of the most intruiging derbies ever, the Manchester Derby. Manchester United before now often regarded themselves as the top club in the city having won many accolades and League titles. However City's fortune began to change when the club was bought over by rich Arab owners. The sheiks splashed their oil money and assembles a multimillion pound squad. Sir Alex Ferguson, Man Utd manager then played down their financial strenght calling them a small club with a small mentality, however Mancity with the help of Carlos Tevez, a former United player and other stars like Yaya Toure city were on the rise. The derby scheduled for 23rd October, 2011 kicked off and Man Utd were going into this one two points behind City. A win for them would have leaped them over city by a point but that was not to be the case. Man utd started the game brightly dominating possession and showing real intent in front of goal. But it was City who took the lead through Itallian young sensation Mario Balotelli, 21. The youngster was earlier in the news that week for almost setting his home ablaze with fireworks but he took a well placed short that beat the United goal keeper David De Gea. As he scored he revealed a shirt in relation to the chaotic events that was inscribed '' Why always me''? Man Utd pressed on but the half ended with city in front. As the teams reconvened for the final half, Johnny Evans had a moment of poor concentration as he allowed Ballotelli to sneek in from behind to steal the ball causing the Irish man to commit a professional foul. The referee Mark Clattenburg had no choice than to brandish a red card. United then conceded a second goal after Balotelli received a well time cross which he buried at the back of the net. The very quiet Aguero then made it 3-0 after receiving a cross from Micah Richards. United pulled back one through a well angled Jab from Darren Flectcher. It was a goal they thought would bring them back in the game perhaps. But nine minutes from time saw city cap a wonderful attacking display which led them to three more goals. At 6-1 Old trafford was now having many empty seats. The game ended and United were left embarrassed in their home soil. Sir Alex ferguson storming into the dressing room at the end of the game and yelling at his players '' You f******g idiots. It was the day Manchester will not forget, the day the red half of Manchester were battered by their so called ''noisy neighbours''
