Celebrities / Buhari Tells APC Govs To Give Him More Time To Decide On 2019 Election. by solagist(m): 11:10am On Feb 23, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday evening told state governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress to give him more time to decide whether or not he would seek re-election in 2019.
He told the governors this at a meeting they had with him at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, disclosed this to State House correspondents at the end of the meeting held behind closed doors.
Okorocha said the President promised them that he would soon address the nation and the caucus of the party on the matter.

The governor said, “We discussed so many issues that affect the nation, our party and Mr. President’s ambition to run for the 2019 presidential election.
“It is the desire of the governors that Mr. President should run for this exalted office given his performance in the last two years. We believe that if he continues, Nigeria will be better for it.
“Anyhow, Mr. President, in his usual manner, has requested that we give him time and that he will address the nation and the caucus of the party very soon.
“So, we should be full of expectations that Mr. President will make officially known to Nigerians his intentions but we hope that his response will be in line with what the governors are thinking.”
That was the second time Buhari would be meeting the APC governors in the last one week.
The governors had last Friday met with him in his country home in Daura, Katsina State.
Although it was believed that the meeting had to do with the politics of 2019, Okorocha had told reporters that the governors visited Buhari to commiserate with him on the death of two members of his extended family.

The APC governors who met with Buhari had earlier in the day joined other governors from other political parties and former Presidents and Heads of Government for a meeting of the Council of State.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former military dictator, Ibrahim Babangida, among other political and religious leaders had asked Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019.

Celebrities / Senator Protests Adamu’s Sacking As Caucus Chair by solagist(m): 3:02pm On Feb 22, 2018
Lawmaker representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Senator Ali Wakili, on Thursday protested against the removal of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum without the general knowledge of its members.

Wakili, who raised a point of order at the plenary, said there was no meeting by members of the forum where they collectively agreed to sack Adamu as caucus leader.

Shortly before plenary was adjourned on Wednesday, Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over the session, read a letter from the NSF signed by the Public Relations Officer, Senator Dino Melaye, announcing the sacking of Adamu.

The letter read, “This is to inform the Senate that the majority signatories of members of the Northern Senators Forum have removed Senator Abdullahi Adamu as Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum for financial mismanagement and maladministration. We announce his replacement with Senator Aliyu Wamakko immediately. Find the attached names and signatories of members.”

Ekweremadu however did not read the names on the signatories, while the list was not made available to journalists after enquiries.

On Thursday, Wakili said, “I was not here yesterday but I saw it in the papers and over the television when you announced the removal of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the leader of the Northern Senators Forum.

“I come from the North and I am an active member of the Northern Senators Forum. At no time have we met and put to question any of the leaders of the Northern Senators Forum.

“It was brought to this place and it was announced and some of our colleagues went to the Press Centre and made statements that referred to some of us as monkeys. We are taking this political brinkmanship beyond the level we are supposed to take it. We are supposed to be wise men.

“The fact that I am not privy and the fact that the northern senators forum was dragged my privilege has been breached because nobody called me for a meeting. Senator Barau Jibrin, secretary of the forum, had never called a meeting. Senator Dino Melaye, the public relations officer of the forum, had never called for a meeting.

“When the announcement was made and the press statement, the spokesman for the Senate led some senators to the Press Centre to make some of these bombastic statements. By this, I want to say that my privilege has been breached because my constituents and other concerned northerners have also expressed their disgust, that why are we trying to destroy our leadership. I want the Senate to take judicial note of what I am saying.”

Ekweremadu, who presided over the session, said, “Alright, point noted.”

Responding to Wakili later at the plenary, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Aliyu Sabi-Abdullahi, raised a point of order to state that he did not speak for the forum but for the Senate when he addressed journalists on Wednesday.

Celebrities / “I Slept With 230 Nigerian Girls, 1170 Others From 5 Other Countries” by solagist(m): 2:12pm On Feb 22, 2018
“I slept with 230 Nigerian girls, 1170 others from 5 other countries” – French tourist
Many Nigerian and African women see all westerners as very wealthy people who can change their lives, hence a man has revealed his escapades with hundreds of women.

While speaking to an online news site, Africa24, a 40-year-old French tourist, Jean Michel, admitted that he impregnated more than 600 women in six African countries including Nigeria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Togo, Ghana and Guinea, within two years.

His confession has been translated from French to English by Simon Ateba in Washington, District of Columbia and it reads:

“Good morning Africa 24, I have a confession to make about the havoc I have wreaked in six African countries, including Cameroon, Togo, Cote D’Ivoire, Nigeria, Ghana and Guinea. I am not proud of what I have done. These were unfortunate experiences.

“In France where I hail from, I did not have money. I was very poor until one day I played and won lottery. I won 550 thousand euros. It was the largest sum of money I had received in life.
“I did not know what to do, and a friend suggested we travel to Africa. We obtained all the documents, entry visa, and the rest, and our first stop was Ivory Coast.

“In Abidjan (the capital of Ivory Coast), we rented a furnished apartment. We had money to spend and met Ivorian people and we became friends. They introduced young Ivorian girls to us, and that’s when it all started.

“I began having sex with girls every day. Sometimes, I would sleep with three girls at the same time. It was a marvelous experience.

“I worried less about my health. All I wanted was to have fun. My friends and I were in a night club in the town every day looking for girls.

“One time, I met a girl and gave her money, and she told me to be engaged to her. She was ready to get pregnant for me. I don’t know whether it was the money they liked or the fact that I was from France that attracted them.

“I spent three months in Ivory Coast, spent 60, 000 euros and slept with more than 80 girls. After leaving Ivory Coast, I went to Togo where I slept with over 100 girls and spent 40, 000 euros.

“I spent three months in Togo and went to Nigeria. Nigeria was where I got more girls. I did not speak English, and it seems Nigerian girls love foreigners.

“I rented a furnished apartment in Nigeria and I was in Lagos for six months. I spent 100,000 euros and slept with 230 girls. Nigeria was the place I appreciated the most. Girls were always available and easy to deceive.

“From Nigeria, I went to Ghana, and then Cameroon and ended what I describe as my sex tour in Guinea. I was in those three countries for more than a year and spent over 200, 000 euros. If I told you I slept with more than 700 girls in those three countries, you won’t believe me, but it was unbelievable!

“In all, I slept with more than 1,400 girls in six different African countries. I have all their pictures in my photo album, including the dates we met, their names and phone numbers. I opened a Facebook account only for them.

“Since I returned to France, I have had more than 600 of them who told me they got pregnant for me. Some committed abortion, and I do not know exactly how many finally gave birth.

“Africa is a marvelous continent. Girls are beautiful and very sexy. All they want is a man who has money, and the worst is when he’s white.

“I realised that they love having mixed race babies. I do not know why, but many would do anything to get pregnant for you. 100 euros is plenty of money in Africa.

“To summarise, I went on a sex tour in Africa, I slept with 1,400 girls in two years and more than 600 got pregnant.

“I know many of you would judge me, but I do not care about your insults. I know that what I did is not good, but I enjoyed my stay in Africa, and I am planning another trip to Senegal, Mali, Gabon, Benin, Niger and Democratic Republic of Congo.

“The day after I returned to France, I went to the hospital for medical exams, and luckily, I was HIV negative, and I did not have any other infectious disease.

“My friend was also negative and we are planning another trip. I did not go to secondary school, so disregard my grammatical errors. Thank you for reading my story”

The board said registration for the examination will now end on February 11, 2018.JAMB’s spokesman, Dr. Fabian Benjamin announced this in a statement on Tuesday evening. “JAMB as a responsive organisation has taken the decision albeit with great hesitation to accommodate candidates who failed to register between the two months window period that ended at midnight of Tuesday, 6th February, 2018. “The failure of these candidates to register is unfortunate and the Board hastens to add that this culture of impunity will not be tolerated and indeed penalty may be imposed for late registration in future. “Candidates are therefore strongly advised to take advantage of the extension to register as request for further extension would not be entertained.”

The Police Command in Oyo State has arrested a soldier serving at 81 Battalion, Makola, Ibadan for allegedly hijacking a fuel-laden truck along Akobo, Iwo road. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Abiodun Odunde, made the disclosure in Ibadan while presenting the suspects to newsmen at the command’s headquarters in Ibadan on Friday. Odunde said that the soldier and three others were arrested on Nov. 11 along Akobo, Iwo Road, Ibadan. The commissioner said that investigation revealed that the gang was responsible for waylaying and subsequently hijacking trucks along the expressway. “The gang led by the soldier hijacked a 40,000 litre truck with registration number ABJ 132XA at about 9:30 p.m. and abducted the driver and the conductor. “They later took them to Omi-Adio after robbing them of their money and valuables and thereafter drove the truck to Akure/Ilesa road. “The alarm raised by the victim attracted some members of the community who alerted the police that led to their arrest and also recovered the truck,’’ Odude said. The police also presented 17 other suspects including an employee of George Investment Company, Ibadan who stole six Sino trucks and a Toyota Camry car belonging to the company. Odude said that investigation conducted by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad led to the arrest of the suspect and one other in Edo and Abuja. The CP said that the six trucks were sold in Kaduna at the rate of N20 million while the Camry car was given to a yet-to-be-identified pastor in Abuja. “As a result of the diligent investigation by the SARS, all the trucks and two other cars were recovered and the criminal receiver also arrested.” 10 other suspects were arrested for allegedly stealing, cultism, armed robbery, unlawful possession of counterfeit currency and impersonation. Celebrities / My Partner Says She Loves Me But That Sex Is Not A Priority by solagist(m): 4:41pm On Nov 13, 2017
I met my partner just over a year ago. Sex and communication were fairly good at first, but now she often says she is too tired, stressed or ill. She says sex is not her priority and hardly ever initiates it, although she is keen on cuddling and maybe a little petting. She says she loves me a lot and that she needs more time to feel more deeply passionate. I am finding it frustrating, and feel neglected and misled: she has a rather colourful sexual past and has been involved in many casual sexual encounters.

People often enter relationships for reasons that do not include sex, or where sex is a low priority. You are receiving many clear signs that she is drawn to you for different reasons, but you seem to be finding it hard to accept this. Instead, you are framing it in the following light: “Lots of people before me had great regular sex with her – why not me? What’s wrong with me? Why is she even with me?” But a plethora of partners in a person’s past does not mean the sex was always good, or even consistent. Perhaps she finds it difficult to maintain interest with anyone at all because she is indeed stressed, anxious or depressed.
Are you doing too much housework - and is it hampering your career?

You need to know her better. Talk to her about her feelings and share yours, without blame. Ask what you could do to make sex more exciting for her. She may have chosen you because she feels safe with you, which could indicate a complex psychological issue, but if sex is a high priority for you and not at all for her, consider moving on.

Justice Saliu Saidu ordered the forfeiture of the building to the Federal Government on Thursday following an ex parte application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The EFCC had earlier named the wife of the sacked Director General of the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, Mrs. Folashade Oke, as the owner of the flat. The EFCC said it found out that Mrs. Oke made a cash payment of $1.658m for the purchase of the flat between August 25 and September 3, 2015. She was said to have purchased the property in the name of a company, Chobe Ventures Limited, to which she and her son, Master Ayodele Oke Junior, were directors. Payment for the purchase of the flat was said to have been made to one Fine and Country Limited. The EFCC stated that Mrs. Oke made the cash payment in tranches of $700,000, $650,000 and $353,700 to a Bureau de Change company, Sulah Petroleum and Gas Limited, which later converted the sums into N360,000,000 and subsequently paid it to Fine and Country Limited for the purchase of the property.

Like we reported earlier, it was like a 'movie' as some men confessed to the killing of one Mr. Thomas Ezeugwu, a business man residing in Lagos who suddenly slumped and died on Oct. 6. The deceased's corpse was taken to his village at Nkpologwu town in Uzo-Uwani area of Enugu state for funeral rites and burial, when these five men (mourners) came out as if being pursued by the ghost of the dead man and confessed how they planned and killed Mr. Thomas. It was gathered that men confessed to going to Omor town of Anambra State to get the charm which they used in killing the man, who according to them was about to sell 20 plots of land without their consent and at that they planned to kill him. Celebrities / PDP Bot Chair Say No Automatic Ticket For Atiku. by solagist(m): 9:13am On Nov 09, 2017
The Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Walid Jibrin, has ruled out granting automatic ticket to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to contest the 2019 presidential election on the platform of the party. He said should Atiku return to the party as being speculated in some quarters, he and other aspirants would struggle for the party’s presidential ticket. According to him, the former vice-president is free to dump the governing All Progressives Congress and return to the PDP. He added that the party was ready for Atiku’s return and would warmly accept him and his supporters back to the PDP fold. The BoT chairman, who spoke to journalists in Kaduna, argued that with the treatment being meted out to the former vice-president by the APC, he (Atiku) had no option than to join the PDP ahead of 2019. Jibrin said, “Has he told you he is returning to the PDP? We are ready to accept him to our party but he should be ready to work for a waiver. “The North met in Abuja to say that any candidate from the North can contest. Let us get them. I think they are getting set now. For now, we have a former governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau, former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido; a former governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa, and so on preparing to vie for the PDP presidential ticket. “If the PDP grants Atiku a waiver, he should then join the cream of presidential aspirants in the party to fight for the ticket in 2019. “If the PDP considers Atiku for the automatic presidential ticket, what about those in the party who are showing interest? Should we throw them away? If he is coming, he should come as an equal partner. “We are ready to accept him. But, he must follow the rules of the game. First, he must undergo primaries like any other person, and he must fight for the presidential ticket.”

Celebrities / Buhari’s Appointments Not Lopsided, Presidency Insists by solagist(m): 12:27pm On Nov 04, 2017
The Presidency on Saturday insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointments are not lopsided in favour of the North as suggested by a recent media report. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, stated this in a statement made available to journalists. The media report had claimed that 81 of Buhari’s appointments are from the North. But Adesina described the report as a mischievous attempt to mislead the public and portray the Buhari administration in bad light. He said the writer unilaterally selected 100 appointees to drive home the distraction presented as “facts”. “To claim, suggest or attempt to insinuate that the President’s appointments are tilted in favour of a section of the country is simply untrue and certainly uncharitable,” Adesina said. The presidential spokesman insisted that it is false for anyone to say that Buhari’s appointments are lopsided. He added, “From all records, majority of the President’s appointees across different portfolios are not from the North, as the publication erroneously alleged. “If the publication did not have ulterior motives, a simple enquiry from official sources in the Presidency would have prevented this unwarranted public disinformation. “It must be stated clearly that, despite the distractions and biased reportage of this article, President Muhammadu Buhari remains committed to serving all Nigerians, no matter the tribe, ethnicity or region, and he is also determined to ensure that Nigeria remains strong and united. “He has, and will continue to keep faith with one Nigeria and has shown this with the administration’s diverse projects in different parts of the country’s geopolitical zones.”

Celebrities / EFCC Knows Where Maina Is Hiding? by solagist(m): 10:34am On Nov 03, 2017
A former assistant director of the Department of State Services, Dennis Amacree, has disclosed that the EFCC knows where the ex-Chairman of Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina, is hiding.

Amacree made this claim during an interview on Channels yesterday.

Asked if the EFCC should seek help from sister agencies in finding Maina, Amacree said,
“Well, they can do that but I believe strongly that they know where he is. They do but it might be difficult for them to get to him because he has surrounded himself with a bunch of people.”

Speaking further, Amacree revealed that DSS also possessed intelligence on Maina’s whereabouts but the feud between the acting EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, and the DSS boss, Lawal Daura, might be preventing the two agencies from cooperating.

“The EFCC is looking for him but it was claimed that the DSS was protecting him and so intelligence will not be shared. The break in synergy did not start today. Remember that Magu was supposed to be confirmed by the Senate and he hasn’t been confirmed till now because of a letter from the DSS. So, there is no love lost between them.”

He said there was a general belief that President Buhari was fully aware of Maina’s reinstatement.

The former DSS assistant director wondered why Mr President would go ahead to reinstate Maina after the Head of Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, warned him against it.

“The HoS said she advised the President not to reinstate Maina. So, let someone come out and tell us the truth.

“You can see the anger in the HoS. Apparently she feels they are dragging her into something she was not aware of. So, it was her way of expressing that this is wrong.”

Celebrities / Tiwa Savage: How I Overcame My Marriage Crisis In 2016 by solagist(m): 5:48pm On Nov 01, 2017
In a male-dominated industry, Tiwa Savage is paving the way for artists to be referred to as artists not based on their genders but on impact. From Kele Kele Love to Ma Lo, she has proven over and over again why she’s not just the first lady of Mavin but the biggest female act in Africa.

Her journey has not been one without obstacles; from the shadows of singing in the background, writing songs, to making her way to X Factor UK where she advanced to final 24 but didn’t make it through. Like every success story ever written, she didn’t let all these deter her. With a degree in Business Administration and another degree in Professional Music from the Berklee College of Music, she came adequately prepared to take over the Nigerian music industry which she did.

Coming home and setting the pace is what Savage describes as “an interesting experience,” because, ”At that time there weren’t many other female artists in a similar musical lane as me. There were a lot of restrictions and it seemed that people were not ready for a female act who was very comfortable in her own skin to be making music in Nigeria.” She credits her success to her fans: “Without their support, it would not have been possible to break those limitations and show the music industry that the new age African woman was here to stay!”

Building a brand is never easy, not for an individual, a company or a nation. From her time in the UK to becoming a household name globally, Savage has gone on to become the first African woman to be signed to Roc Nation and her brand has been endorsed by the likes of Pepsi, Pampers, and more recently Profective MegaGrowth. As an artist who is conscious about her brand image which she affirms is the “strong, beautiful and fearless woman,” she speaks on her most recent endorsement saying, “Being chosen by MegaGrowth to become their ambassador was really exciting because their core values align perfectly with the Tiwa Savage brand. Both reflect a strong, beautiful and fearless woman which is everything I stand for so the collaboration made complete sense.”

Going further to speak on her goal as an artist, the dark-skinned beauty is comfortable with naming herself as a role model.

“Ultimately my goal as an artist is to show young women, particularly young African women, that with hard work and belief in yourself, there is nothing you cannot achieve. I want to leave a legacy that proves that. I want young women to proudly say “if Tiwa could achieve that, so can I.”

Savage is elated to reveal that she is currently inspired by women like Oprah Winfrey, Ava Duvernay, and Shonda Rhimes. “There are so many queens doing amazing things in the world right now… Each is breaking barriers and have shattered the glass ceiling for black women in film and TV.” Another woman who constantly inspires her is Bozoma ‘Boz’ Saint John. “She (Bozoma) was one of the top executives at Apple Music and was recently made the Chief Brand Officer at Uber in the U.S. She is one of the perfect examples of strong women who show that hard work pays, and the fact that she is an African-born woman is even more inspiring to me. She’s a respected boss, a businesswoman and manages to look fabulous whilst juggling it all,” she gushed.

It is no news that in 2016, Savage went through a dark phase in her life that took control of the narrative for her as an African woman, an African female artist, and an international brand. Since then, she has doubled down and has been riding on a new wave of positivity and strength which is showing in her recent works. Speaking of how she was able to bounce back, she says:

“My mother has always told me that, in this life, God only gives you what you can handle. It was a very trying time but God in His infinite mercies gave me the grace to see it through. It only made me stronger.”

This month, the songbird released an extended play (EP) called Sugarcane, which went No.1 on the Apple Music and iTunes World Chart. Also, recently, one of Africa’s finest and a constant collaborator with Savage, Wizkid, released an EP titled, Sounds From The Other Side which had solid reviews and drove social media crazy. Savage speaks about the new wave of EPs in the industry as opposed to albums as she answers the question of if EPs have become the new album in the music industry.

“I wouldn’t say EPs are the new albums, but music is definitely being consumed in a completely different way today than it was when I first started in music.” She explains further, “This is mainly because the attention span of people is getting much shorter. Labels and artists are choosing to release EPs rather than full albums because of the need consumers have for more music at a much quicker rate than before.”

It’s no hidden record that Savage has learnt her voice to the likes of George Michael, Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan, Kelly Clarkson, to mention a few, as well as written songs for Fantasia and Monica. Speaking on songwriting, she admits to still writing her songs as well as working with co-writers, so we ask, does Tiwa Savage still write for other musicians?

“I’ve been quite focused on writing my own music of recent, so, I haven’t had much time to write for other artists as much as I used to, but I still co-write especially for my fellow label mates and vice versa. It’s definitely something that I will like to return to when I have more available time in my schedule.”

Nigerian artists have been jabbed at and ridiculed by critics saying there is really no depth to the lyrics of the songs being released nowadays. When asked based on her history in the industry on the considerations between writing songs in the past and now, she says. “Writing music comes naturally to me and it’s something I do pretty much every day. I wouldn’t say there are any considerations when writing as I write based on life experiences or how I’m feeling at the time.”

There have been a lot of comparisons to Savage’s brand and a lot of others who have risen after her. Reason being that, she came to a land that was not cultivated and can be called a pioneer for Afro pop for female artists. When asked what she does to make sure she stays ahead of that pack, she says, “I believe that there’s space for everyone in this industry. I’m a strong believer of being true to who you are and finding your own purpose as we all run our own race in life. There are some incredible females doing wonderful things and I hope to see more of us breaking barriers in music. I also look forward to the day that we are referred to as just ‘artists’ and not ‘female artists’.”

“I’m a strong believer of being true to who you are and finding your own purpose as we all run our own race in life.”

Celebrities / Fight In Aso Rock? Madam Oyo-ita In Heated Exchange With Chief Of Staff Abba Kya by solagist(m): 2:34pm On Nov 01, 2017
For about ten minutes on Wednesday morning, top government functionaries watched a confrontation in Aso Rock between head of the service of the federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita and Abba Kyari, chief of staff to the president. The "fight" took place right inside the council chambers of the presidential villa. According to The Cable, the reason is a no-brainer — a letter written by Oyo-Ita indicting President Buhari in the reinstatement of Abdulrasheed Maina somehow found its way to the media.
In the memo addressed to Kyari, Oyo-Ita maintained that the president knew about the reinstatement of Maina and that she warned him there would be a public backlash.

But who leaked the memo to the media? Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and Kyari were seen questioning Oyo-Ita at 10.55am — just before the swearing-in of Boss Mustapha as secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) and the launch of the 2018 armed forces emblem.

Oyo-Ita, usually calm, was seen angrily gesticulating in the heated argument with Kyari.

She returned to her seat and angrily stood up again, this time heading straight to Osinbajo, who also had a brief discussion with her.

Babagana Monguno, retired major-general and national security adviser, then joined the conversation.

Some Interesting Facts About Nigeria You Should Know

1. The Walls of Benin (800-1400AD), in present day Edo State, are the longest ancient earthworks in the world, and probably the largest man-made structure on earth. They enclose 6500 square kilometers of community lands that connected about 500 communities. At over 16000km long, it was thought to be twice the length of the Great Wall of China, until it was announced in 2012 (after five years of meticulous measurement by Chinese surveyors) that the Great Wall is about 21,000km long.

2. The Yoruba tribe has the highest rate of twin births in the world. Igbo-Ora, a little town in Oyo state, has been nicknamed Twin capital of the World because of its unusually high rate of twins that is put as high as 158 twins per 1000 births.
In a video centred on twin births in Igbo-Ora, one of the locals boasted that every family in the town has at least one twin!

3. Africa’s oldest known boat is The Dufuna canoe which was discovered in Dufuna village, Yobe state, by a Fulani Herdsman in May 1987, while he dug a well. Various radio-carbon tests conducted in laboratories of reputable universities in Europe and America indicate that the canoe is over 8,000 years old, thus making it the oldest in Africa and 3rd oldest in the world. The discovery of the canoe has completely changed accepted theories of the history and sophistication of marine technology in Africa.

Politics / PDP Chiefs Knock Aregbesola For Raising Airport Contract By N58bn by solagist(m): 1:11pm On Oct 31, 2017
Some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State have flayed Governor Rauf Aregbesola over the increase in the contract sum of the state’s airport from N11bn to N69bn. A member of the PDP Caretaker Committee in Osun State, Mr. Bamidele Salam, in an interview with our correspondent in Osogbo on Monday, described the increase of the contract sum through a concession agreement, which will last 30 years, as a “highly suspicious transaction.” Salam said, “This is one senseless, needless and highly suspicious transaction that the state government is entering into. For a government which has not been able to provide potable water, good road network, functional education and affordable health care, going into this highly exorbitant project is the height of rudderlessness. “The continuous upward review of the sum from the initial N4.5bn to N69bn is certainly unjustifiable. When was the concessionary contract advertised? How many companies put in their bids? What technical evaluation supports a 30-year concession? These and many other questions beg for answers. “Considering the fact that the administration has just about 12 months left, one cannot but wonder if this is not an attempt to deepen the state financial mess ahead of a new administration.” Another leader of the PDP, who is a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the state, Mr. Niyi Owolade, said the concession agreement was another ploy by Aregbesola to plunge the state into more debt. Owolade, while speaking with our correspondent on the telephone, warned the contractors and the concessionaire to be aware that the project would be revisited after the expiration of Aregbesola’s tenure. He said, “I am just laughing about this new arrangement by this government to further plunge our state into more debt. The company should be aware that the whole thing will be revisited after the end of their tenure.” Meanwhile, the Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to focus on how the state government allegedly mismanaged the huge amount of public funds meant for the project. The Coordinator of the group, Mr. Suleiman Adeniyi, said the governor came up with the idea of a concession after the failure to account for earlier spending on the project. Adeniyi said, “As a formidable group and stakeholder in Osun State projects, we would not fold our arms and watch a prodigal government like Rauf Aregbesola’s administration sell our property to its friends, associates and cronies. “We have concluded arrangement to approach a court of competent jurisdiction to stop this illegal concession arrangement of the M.K.O. Abiola International Airport to AWOL Investment Company because we have discovered a lot of impropriety in the arrangement.”

Politics / Senate Backs Buhari On Babachir Lawal’s Sack by solagist(m): 12:59pm On Oct 31, 2017
The Senate has backed President Muhammadu Buhari on the sacking of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Babachir Lawal.

A probe into the alleged mismanagement of funds under the Presidential Initiative on the North East by the Senate had indicted Lawal.

President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, in his remarks on a point of order raised by the Deputy Majority Leader, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah, at the plenary on Tuesday, hailed Buhari for “doing the right thing on this matter.”

Na’Allah, who recalled that the Senate initiated the probe that led to Lawal’s indictment and removal, said the lawmakers were also responsible for the sacking of ex-Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina, who was recently reinstated into Federal Government service in a controversial circumstance.

Celebrities / My Husband Doesn’t Feed Me, Divorce Seeking Wife Tells Court by solagist(m): 12:47pm On Oct 31, 2017
A housewife, Fatima Muazu, on Tuesday begged a Minna Sharia Court to dissolve her marriage to Hassan Danshalele for an alleged constant beating.
Fatima also told the court that her husband no longer provides food in the house as the head of the family. “My husband doesn’t feed me and he is also in the habit of beating me all the time. “The hardship I pass through in his house is just too much for me. “I cannot endure it anymore, and that is why I am pleading with this court to help me out by dissolving this marriage,” she added Danshalele, however, denied his wife’s allegations, saying he had always done his best to cater for her. He maintained that he still loved his wife and would not want them to go their separate ways. The judge, Ahmed Bima, urged the couple to give peace a chance and try to settle their differences, as marriage required a lot of patience and understanding. He adjourned the case until November 13 for a report of settlement. “I will give you the chance to try and win back the love of your wife. You are to come back and inform the court of the outcome of your reconciliatory efforts,” he said.

Celebrities / Nigerian Buys G-wagon For South African To Apologise For Impregnating His Wife by solagist(m): 6:47pm On Oct 27, 2017
A Nigerian man simply identified as John bought a Mercedes-Benz G-class for a South African man to apologise after impregnating his wife. Daily Live, a South-African news website, quoted John as saying that the husband of his pregnant girlfriend immediately forgave him on receiving the car. “I know what I did is wrong but I feel better he has accepted my gift. He accepted that his wife, my girlfriend, is pregnant and will soon give birth to my son. He was angry at first but when I presented the car to him his anger vanished,” John explained. Another South African woman close to the family of the pregnant wife could not hold back her disappointment and anger toward the man as she claimed that Nigerian men would never take South-African men seriously after hearing this. She said, “Nigerian men will never take our men seriously. What kind of a man accepts a gift from a man who impregnated his wife? He will impregnate her again and buy the stupid husband another car. I am so disappointed.” When contacted, the husband who didn’t want to be named said, “it is wrong to say I am stupid. The point of the matter is we cannot reverse what happened. We sat down as men and sorted the issue. The Bible says we must forgive and forget. I have always dreamed of driving a G-wagon. Christmas came early for me and my family. “The baby will be born and I’ll take care of him as my own. If the father wants to take him to Nigeria I wouldn’t mind. I will give my wife the support she needs always. “That is what marriage is all about. I love my wife and will not leave her because of a mere pregnancy.”
