Hello SolarEngr,

I have a 2 battery set up, Super Speed batteries, made by same guys who make Star Plus.

Ik Ik not name brands.

I charge the batteries with the mains or power generator, so no sol mear panels at all.

Recently, I noticed a sudden drop in voltage once voltage gets below 24V.

It rapidly drops to 22V and then slowly increases to 22.7V-22.9V. This happens within 5-10 minutes.

And then normally discharges from there.

What is(are) the possible cause(s)?

Depends on the load, inductive like fridge or freezer can cause it because of high starting power.

Hello, good evening SolarEngr. I would like to ask which is better for home use between a hybrid inverter with lithium batteries and a non-hybrid inverter with Lead-acid batteries.

Hybrid with lithium.
But make you go for better brands and not cheap brands.

turmacs:
This is completely wrong

corrected
Let's break down the problem step by step:

1. **Going to visit friends:**
- Distance: 165 miles
- Time: Let's call the time taken for this part of the trip: t_1
- Average Speed: s_1

2. **Returning from the visit:**
- Time: t_1 + 2hours (as it took 2 hours longer than the initial trip)
- Average Speed: s_1 - 22 mph (as the speed was reduced by 22 mph due to construction)

We can use the formula Distance = Speed×Time to find the average speed and time for each part of the trip.

For the first part of the trip:
165 = s_1 × t_1

For the return trip:
165 = (s_1 - 22) × (t_1 + 2)

Now we have a system of equations to solve for ( s_1 ) and ( t_1 ). Let's start by solving for ( t_1 ) in the first equation:
t_1 = 165/s_1

Substitute this expression for t_1 into the second equation:
165 = (s_1 - 22) × (165/s_1 + 2)

Now, let's simplify and solve for s_1:

165= 165 + 2s_1 - 3630/s_1 - 44
0 = 2s_1 - 3630/s_1 -44
0 = 2s_1² - 44s_1 - 3630
0 = (s_1 - 55) (s_1 + 33)
s_1 = 55mph

Now that we have the average speed for the first part of the trip, we can find t_1 :
t_1 = 165/55
= 3hours

For the return trip: t_1 + 2 = 3 + 2 = 5 hours
s_1 - 22 = 55 - 22 = 33mph

So, the time and average speed for each part of the trip are approximately:
- Going to visit friends: 3 hours at 55 mph
- Returning from the visit: 5 hours at 33 mph

Politics / Re: How Many Units Of Electricity Can 5,000 Naira Buy In Your Area by SolarEngr(m): 1:05pm On Apr 08
This is what someone posted on Facebook

The Nigerian government is asking its citizens to pay more for the electricity they barely consume. This is already a stale news but what's shocking is that the people don't seem to be bothered about it. No major protest on the streets ; it's all calm and quiet, or the usual Nigerian suffering and smiling copying mechanism.

Access to constant electricity supply is one of Nigeria's never-ending problems. It becomes really worrisome when you realise that in this country we pay for what we barely use. From time to time , the national grid collapses and the whole nation is plunged into darkness but you still have to pay for that darkness. Isn't that amazing??

To remain sane in Nigeria, you have to have a rock solid plan. It's like devising a safe lodgement for your feet when you are walking on a dangerous path. For me , buying a solar inverter was the way out of this mess. I bought a 1.5 KV inverter last year when it cost around 600k and ever since then I have been living 95% off-grid. I still have to pay my NEPA bills as a monthly routine but owning a solar inverter has really helped me and my family to live more comfortably.

At this time when Nigeria's energy crisis is at its all time worst, it's easy to imagine what millions of people go through everyday. I may someday leave this country never to return back but I will always remember how God's favour spoke for me in that sick country.

And here is our respond
