PropertiesRe: Who Can Supply Solar Energy In Nigeria!? by Solarrealities:
Solar energy electric system is the only and immediate solution to the erratic power supply in Nigeria. The Government is not serious in finding a lasting solution to the power problem. I don't know why Nigerians cannot harness this God given FREE source of power.Solar energy is used even in cold blooded countries like Germany, Canada, Spain e.t.c.

ELECTRICITY BILL CALCULATION
Many are not aware that electricity bill is not limited to the estimated bill from the utility company but also includes fueling cost, cost of the generating set and the cost of servicing the generating set. Bearing this in mind, let us calculate the cost of electricity for a period of five (5) year between the conventional power grid and a solar electric system.

Conventional power grid
Assuming that you use a 3.75KVA generating set
Cost of 3.75KVA generating set N 85,000
Assuming the useful life of Gen. Set is 5 years
Cost of Gen. Set per year N 17,000
Cost of fueling per month is N 30, 000 x 12 N 360,000
Costs of servicing/maintenance per month N 500 X12 N 12,000
Cost of Utility bill per month N 2,000 X 12 N 24,000
Cost of Electricity bill per year N 413,000
In 5 years, you would have spent =413,000 x 5= N 2,065,000 on electricity bill.

Solar Energy System
With solar energy electric system, you can reduce your electricity bill to ZERO.
Assuming that you use a 3.5KVA solar electric system,
Cost of 3.5KVA is N 520,000
Although a solar electric system will serve you for decades; let us assume the same useful life of 5 years.
Cost of solar electric system per year N104,000
Cost of fueling per year N 0
Cost of servicing/maintenance per year N 0
Cost of estimated utility bill per year N 2,000 x 12 N 24,000
Cost of electricity bill per year N128,000
In 5 years, you would have spent N 128,000 x 5 = N 640,000 on electricity bill.

That is an example of how far a solar energy system can save your hard earned money from being wasted.

HOW MUCH DOES SOLAR ENERGY COST?
Would you like to own your electricity? Want to stop worrying about rate inflation from your utility company, charging you whatever they like? Did you know that rates have been rising in Nigeria for example? They will only keep going up and up unless you do something about it!
By installing a solar electric system you can SAVE MONEY, break free from the clutches of your utility company and HELP the Environment too.
Only 20 Years ago, solar energy cost 7 times as much. Advanced technologies have contributed to the enormous decrease in price, but it is mainly due to the increase in manufacturing volumes, as more and more people realize the benefits of solar energy.
There’s more good news. Solar energy cost will continue to decline as the market continues to grow, making it even more affordable.

There is no better time than NOW to take advantage of all these incentives!

N - Just how much does solar energy cost? - N
It varies. Depending on the size of your household/business, the amount of electricity you use, the particular solar energy system you choose and how much sunshine you receive in your area to name only a few.
As a very rough guide, depending on the above conditions…

A photovoltaic system will cost between N130,000 and N 160,000 for a 1kW system.
(Or N 130 - N 160 /Watt)
An average Nigerian family, living in a 3-bedroom home will require a 1.5 - 3kW system, which will cost between N 220,000 and N 400,000.
