Social media companies; Facebook, Twitter (X), Instagram, TikTok, etc. Does the US government or any government in the world run a social media company? No!

Cars: Toyota, Ford, Chrysler, BMW. Etc. Which government owned car manufacturing company do you know?

Aeroplanes: Airbus, boeing. Which government owned plane manufacturing company do you know?

Which government owned company in the US or anywhere in the world manufactures medicines, paint, doors, tiles, blocks, roofs, Biro, clothes, gas cylinder, slippers, sardine, rug etc, the list is endless. Even road construction companies are almost always private companies and the govt awards them contracts. Even in space, it has been opened up. SpaceX, a private, company owned by Elon musk now carries astronauts to space. Blue origin too. Even companies that manufacture weapons for the US are not government owned companies.

Industries and businesses are best run by private individuals all over the world. The government has no business setting up industries. Just create the enabling environment (like power, roads, security etc) and people will set up businesses and industries.

If Nigerian companies that were sold to private investors are not doing well, it still doesn't mean the government should be involved in building industries. Because if the government were even good managers of these companies in the first place (like Nitel, phcn), they wouldn't have sold them to private individuals. Go abroad and you will see that the government has no business in building industries.

We are talking about industries and businesses, the idiot is mentioning fire service. All these dumb idiots on nairaland. 🥲

Read to understand, not reply. Government is not good at managing industries. Most industries in Europe and America are not owned by government. There are few sectors that are managed by the government either by the government alone or through a public-private sector partnership for some reasons (like national security). But generally, government has no business running industries in a capitalist economy.

I can list 200 industries and businesses in the US or UK that are private owned. Can you list 10 industries in the US or UK that is owned and operated by the government?

Smart Nigerians don't see Parties anymore. They try to look at individuals and their history. Atiku has used many political party platforms. So has Obi and thousands of Nigerian politicians. When most leaders themselves are not loyal to any Party, why do you followers keep talking as if the Party defines their conduct? Do you think even GEJ you seem to support can't join APC tomorrow if the 'project' favours his interest?
