Christianity EtcRe: Did You Know That Jesus Christ Being God Was Decided By Vote? by sopwith21: 11:48pm On Jan 12, 2015
To give a fair examination of Mudley313's claims -

"still does not change the fact that your god, as he stands today as a god, was officially declared by the votes of mere mortals."
Of course, this is true. Jesus was declared to be God by mortals. Jesus was also just declared not to be God by Mudley313, who presumably is also a mortal. Many millions of other mortals have made various declarations about Jesus as well. What this proves is a mystery.

"Jesus was just another solar allegorical myth deity before the council of nicea"
It is quite interesting that Mudley313 vests such amazing power in the Council of Nicea. Last time he mentioned them, they were merely a random group of mortals making wild claims about mythical deities. Now it appears that they have the power to elevate Jesus from myth to God.

Quite the opposite is true. Jesus was/is either God or he was not, notwithstanding whatever the Council of Nicea (or any other organization) may have said. If Jesus was indeed an allegorical myth deity, he remains so today regardless of anything that any council may have claimed. If he was actually who he claimed to be, then he remains so today whether any council likes it or not.

The Council of Nicea is utterly irrelevant to the facts of the case. Why Mudley313 places so much emphasis on the claims of those he just denounced as "mere mortals" is mystifying given his apparent distaste of all things Christian. He apparently places more faith in the Council of Nicea than any "Bible-believing Christian" I ever met.

your god exist only in your imagination and in the pages of these ancient jewish manuscripts written by men.
That is an unscientific and unverfiable statement. By definition, "God" (if he exists) is an alien spiritual being that cannot be detected by humans. The declaration that God does not exist is a claim based on nothing more than blind faith and the opinion of mortals - the very things Mudley313 uses to disprove Christianity.

A belief in God is a faith-based position. A belief that there is no God is also a faith-based position, as neither side can quantify or demonstrate their claims scientifically.
