raii:
As if you know say na groundnut I first chop. Thanks for your description of the parking lot. It made sense. I went to the interview page but its still showing all dem cancel/reschedule appointment. Id wait for it to clear and book one asap.

@pattyreal thank you so much. If dem get 530am appt sef dats wat id do. The earlier the better for me next time.
Hello raii... I'm so sorry about the refusal. I think you should re apply alone and maybe you should choose Abuja. I know a couple of people that were denied in lagos and were later(almost immediately) granted visas in Abuja.
I'm definitely not sure any magic happens in Abuja, but I know a few people have joked about the consulars always granting visas as they are sure Abuja is a rich man's town and they don't know who your father is(I bet it's a silly joke).
The truth is the crowd in the lagos consulate is usually more and that can be overwhelming to consularS.
From what I know about the American embassy, presentation of documents are secondary. The consulars would only ask to see your documents if there's a chance you've managed to convince them of your return. They make their decisions based on your strong ties to your home country( family, a very good paying job/business, shares, properties etc). Your interviewer was probably not convinced you won't stay back as some of your ties to your country were applying with you and would be making that trip with you. So please re apply alone, so they know you will sha come back home to your husband, mom, job and anyother ties you must have declared.
I think you Should reapply ASAP, pray to God for favour, get a letter from your doctor, hotel reservation and just be confident and stay positive. Should you decide to stay in Lagos, everything will still work out for your good according to God's will.

LeonessAug: Hi everyone,

A sad report reaching me from California on a bad experience my friend had in MIHS is totally unfathomable. I thank God for her life and that of her baby. All in the name of saving cost, she was rushed to an emergency ward in California about 1week after birth and her bill at this moment is about $21,000 and more is still coming. I won't go into details but the situation is totally avoidable and was caused by negligence. The hospital will be sued! I'll not speak for them but can't help but wonder if they are overwhelmed by the number of patients or what? My experience wasn't bad but I just had to let my people here know what's happening and be prepared to face whatever they encounter in the cause of this birthing project. All the best to all.
Omg, this sounds so scary.

ogbenyalu: @lizcom 25, dont worry your wife should be fine just make sure her fit to fly letter was written not later than 48hrs before the flight, it must have her EDD, pregnancy week, and doctor must conclude that she is "fit to fly" .cos that conclusion seemed to be there problem with me.

Pls for mamas that gave birth in mihs pls did go bring your babys car seat or did the hospital provide one? Cos my sister is saying they wont discharge me if i dont have a car seat. Pls how true is dat?
Hello ogbenyalu, it's the law in the United States to put any child (in some States children 8 years and under) in a car seat while driving. So your baby won't be an exception. If you don't have a car seat you won't be allowed to leave the hospital. The hospital won't provide you with it so you would have to buy yours. Go any walmart close to you or order from then online. They have some nice. Affordable ones. You can get from $50 up. Just make sure you buy an infant one.

A quick guide to buying car seats. Often, this happens in three stages: infants use rear-facing infant seats; toddlers use forward-facing child safety seats; and older children use booster seats.

lekiks: @phema, had similar considerations....

Here are more factors to consider
Poe: for BA , its heathrow, for delta its atlanta..none is so problematic
Infant ticket:delta may require return ticket 4 ur infant since he is a citizen except he has a naija passport
Wait times: from what i saw , the wait time at heathrow is too long .just had to wait a little at atlanta

I booked delta at wakanow, dnt tink it can be booked directly on their website.prices varies..was tracking the thing like a forex guru..hope this helps
Poe is the first state you enter in the states, so it can't be Heathrow, as Heathrow is in London. So depending on your ticket, if your ticket has a direct flight to Phoenix from London, then Phoenix will be your Poe, if it stops over in another state in the United States, (say new york) before heading to Phoenix, then new york will be your Poe. Children under 2 years old pay 10% of an adult fee, so your baby's ticket shouldn't be that expensive.

pattyreal: please soso15, how did you get your appointment with financials @ MIHS. been tryn to reach out to dem but no one is responding.
I've not gotten my appointment at mihs yet. I'm still yet to decide. It's dependent on if I know a few ppl going there. My husband wants to me to stay in maryland since that's where my sister and mom live but it's such an expensive state

Babe16: Amen @ Soso15. Pls have u made any arrangement for accommodation. Am trying to get accommodation reservation so dat I can also use it to apply.
No I've not made reservations I just checked online, I found 3 places, but I'm not sure of how safe the are of the one I really like is. So I may go with the extended stay one that a few ppl have recommended here.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Soso15: 10:30pm On Sep 01, 2014
mimibe: Aside all you mentioned, what other things does she do for the mum n new born baby?
She helps you get a doctor, a letter from the doctor for embassy runs if you don't have a visa yet(at a fee) she helps you with getting the babies documents, and takes you baby shopping. Basically she's your buddy for your whole duration at hers. A friend gave me her number, I called her, and she sent me an email with all the details. In her package there's also a discount of 40% if you pay your medical bills within 30days. So that takes your birth to 2,600 without epidural, 4,000 with epidural and about 8k for cs. If you don't pay within the 30 days, I think it's 4,000, 6,500 and 10k respectively. I don't think tests are inclusive in the bill. If I remember clearly tests are about 2,600, I think inclusive of sonograms. It's be best to contact her if you've made up your mind on gywnette medical centre.

GenoMI: Hello House,

Please does anyone have information on reasonably priced accommodation in Atlanta? I plan to use Gwinnett Medical Centre in Lawrenceville so looking for something not too far from the hospital. Thank you.
Hello, I was planning to have my baby in gwinnett medical centre. There's a girl in Atlanta that has a house, accommodates mothers to be for a fee of $2000 monthly. She will also drive you to the hospital for doctor's appointments, grocery store etc. if the price is good for you, you can drop your email address and I can forward you her details.
