Traditional enterprise security assumes humans are the primary actors inside corporate systems. Identity platforms authenticate employees. Firewalls inspect network traffic. Endpoint protection monitors laptops and servers. These controls work reasonably well when every meaningful action originates from a person. Autonomous AI agents break those assumptions. An AI agent can analyze documentation, generate software, invoke dozens of external tools through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), and complete an entire workflow in seconds. It may perform thousands of actions before a security analyst notices anything unusual. Conventional identity management and network security were never designed to evaluate machine reasoning in real time. This is why organizations need a different mindset. Instead of focusing primarily on identity, they must govern behavior, intent, execution, and authority. Governance becomes the operating system that allows autonomous agents to deliver business value without creating unacceptable operational or security risks. Industry experts and regulators are increasingly reaching the same conclusion as agentic AI expands into critical enterprise functions. Artificial intelligence is forcing a complete rethink of where computing power can exist. AI systems consume staggering amounts of electricity. Training advanced models requires gigantic data centers filled with specialized chips running nonstop. The power demand is climbing so aggressively that some technology executives now speak about energy the same way oil companies once did. Whoever controls future energy supply may control future AI dominance. Modern AI models require extraordinary infrastructure. A single advanced training run can consume enough electricity to power thousands of homes. The larger these systems become, the more difficult it becomes to support them with existing grids. Traditional data centers already strain local utilities. In some regions, energy providers are delaying new AI facilities because the electrical demand is too high. Water consumption is another issue. Massive server farms need cooling systems, and cooling requires enormous quantities of water. The All Progressives Congress (APC) screening committee for the Rivers State House of Assembly has dismissed the list of cleared and uncleared aspirants for the 2027 elections, noting that the list did not emanate from the committee. It was earlier gathered that the committee had released a list of successful and unsuccessful aspirants to stand for the primaries of the party and that 98 people were screened. It was also learned that out of the total number, 65 of them who are linked directly to the governor of the state were not cleared, while 33 of them who are loyalists of the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, were all cleared by the committee chaired by Rt Hon. Muraina Ajibola. But in a disclaimer signed by the secretary of the committee, Hon. Tanko Yamowa, on Monday, it said the list is circulating on various platforms and is unauthorised and false. The statement read: “The attention of the party leadership has been drawn to the circulation of a purported list of cleared and uncleared aspirants for the Rivers State House of Assembly currently making rounds across various media platforms. “We wish to categorically state that the said publication is false, unauthorised, and does not emanate from the appropriate party authorities. “It is important to note that the screening exercise conducted by the committee headed by Mauriana Ajibola was concluded less than 24 hours ago, and no official list has been released by the party at this time. “As a responsible political party, we are guided by established procedures, rules, and timelines regarding the publication of screening results and related information. Any official communication concerning the status of aspirants will be communicated through the appropriate channels in due course. “We therefore urge party faithful, aspirants, supporters, and the general public to disregard the purported list and treat it as the handiwork of mischief-makers whose intention is to create confusion and unnecessary tension within the party...” Read Full Story Here | https://www.vanguardngr.com/2026/05/rivers-apc-cttee-dismisses-list-of-cleared-uncleared-state-assembly-aspirants/

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has voiced strong opposition to the continued importation of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) into the country. The association also distanced itself from reports suggesting that the surge in petrol imports in November 2025 was linked to a breakdown in supply arrangements between Dangote Refinery and petroleum marketers, describing such claims as inaccurate and misleading. According to IPMAN, the report does not reflect the reality experienced by its members. The association emphasised that the commencement of supply from Dangote Refinery has significantly improved product availability nationwide. Speaking on the issue, IPMAN National President, Abubakar Maigandi Shettima, stated: “Our members fully support Dangote Refinery. “Since supply began, marketers have consistently lifted products without any complaints. We oppose continued importation because Dangote Refinery has the capacity to meet the country’s entire PMS demand.” Shettima further noted that members are satisfied with the reliability of supply and welcomed the refinery’s commitment to direct delivery to filling stations—a move he described as critical to stabilizing distribution and benefiting consumers. He stressed that improved access to locally refined products has eased supply pressures and boosted confidence among independent marketers, reaffirming IPMAN’s commitment to domestic refining as a sustainable solution for Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector. Similarly, Dangote Petroleum Refinery dismissed the media reports as baseless and inaccurate. In its statement, the refinery clarified that no supply agreement with marketers had collapsed, adding that its engagement with the downstream market was deliberately structured to meet rising demand and enhance access, competition, and efficiency. This was later increased to 900 million litres in November and further expanded to 1.5 billion litres in December. “In line with market growth and absorption capacity, volumes were scaled up accordingly. Subsequently, and in line with downstream market liberalisation, we opened PMS supply to all qualified marketers, bulk consumers, and filling station operators,” the statement signed by Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, read. A global research series from McKinsey in 2023 noted that businesses accelerating AI adoption still foresee rising demand for human judgment, creativity, and cross functional problem solving. The World Economic Forum Future of Jobs Report from the same year also predicted that while automation will transform work, roles that depend on emotional intelligence, innovation, and strategic thinking will grow. That does not look like the end of humanity. It looks like a new race where those who use technology intelligently, without losing their human edge, win. AI can draft, calculate, optimize, and analyze, sometimes faster than entire teams. Yet even with all that power, there is a growing appetite for the human touch. People want authenticity. They value real voices. They still respond to people who can think, not just process. That is exactly why serious companies are not just hiring AI prompt writers. They are hiring strategists, ethical advisors, storytellers, culture builders, and creative thinkers. They want humans who bring insight and personality, not just efficiency. “AI Slop” Is Creating New Freelance Work: Why Businesses Still Need Human Experts in 2025 In 2024, Stack Overflow’s annual developer survey spotlighted something interesting. Although AI tools exploded in usage across tech teams, a significant number of developers acknowledged that AI generated code often required human review and debugging. That same pattern is appearing in marketing, consulting, law, writing, design, and scientific research. MIT researchers studying workplace AI adoption in 2023 highlighted that workers using AI still performed better when they possessed strong foundational skills in their craft. AI helped, but it worked best when guided by human talent instead of replacing it. When the internet becomes saturated with repetitive, predictable machine styled output, the fresh thing becomes the real thing. That shift is already creating jobs. Editors are in demand again. Businesses are hiring research specialists to verify AI outputs. Brands now look for voice strategists to keep content human sounding. Even universities and newsrooms are investing in authenticity verification roles and misinformation reviewers. If you freelance, this is your moment. You do not have to compete with AI on raw volume. Machines are built for volume. Humans win on depth, originality, personality, and trustworthiness. A client might get a thousand AI generated articles for cheap, but when they need content that reflects real industry knowledge, or nuanced cultural understanding, or emotional connection, they turn to people... When you hear the name Kanayo O. Kanayo, what comes to your mind? For most Nigerians, it’s not “lawyer,” even though he’s a qualified barrister. It’s not “legendary actor,” though his acting career spans over three decades. It’s not even “father figure” or “cultural icon.” For many Nigerians, Kanayo O. Kanayo (fondly called KOK) remains the face of Nollywood’s ritual movies. He’s the man whose very presence on screen makes you suspicious. If his character offers you a drink, you hesitate. If he’s smiling, you think, “There’s trouble coming.” But why has this image stuck for so long? Why does one man’s filmography hold such power over the imagination of millions? And what does this say about Nigerian culture, Nollywood, and the fine line between acting and reality? For decades, our society has been flooded with rumors about ritual killings, “Yahoo boys,” blood money, and people vanishing mysteriously. Nollywood tapped into those fears, and Kanayo became the face of it. The truth is, the man is an actor but the lines between his roles and reality blurred so much that Nigerians simply refused to separate them. When you saw him onscreen chanting incantations, or standing over a calabash of blood, it wasn’t just entertainment, it was confirmation of cultural rumors. People whispered: “Maybe this is how it’s really done...” Read Full Article Here | https://h1.nu/Kanayo-O-Kanayo-most-feared-nollywood-star

It’s another week in Nigeria, and once again, we’re talking about loans. The country that once called itself the “Giant of Africa” is now stretching its hands again to the global markets, seeking $2.8 billion in fresh funding. But this time, it’s not just another Eurobond or traditional borrowing spree. The Tinubu administration says it’s going Islamic; launching Nigeria’s first-ever global sukuk, a Sharia-compliant bond that could bring in about $500 million from investors in the Middle East and Asia. At the same time, the government is seeking $2.3 billion in new external loans, all in the name of budget support, infrastructure development, and economic stabilization. Finance Minister Wale Edun recently stood before the National Assembly, making his case for why the government needs another $2.3 billion. According to him, the funds will help “bridge fiscal gaps and fund critical sectors.” It’s not the first time we’ve heard that phrase. From Jonathan to Buhari to Tinubu, every administration has claimed the same thing, borrowing today to build tomorrow. But tomorrow, for many Nigerians, never seems to come. Just last week, Reuters reported that Nigeria has finalized plans to issue a $500 million sukuk to tap into the global Islamic finance market. This would be the first of its kind in Nigeria’s borrowing history; a debut international sukuk. For those wondering what that means, a sukuk is an Islamic bond backed by real assets. Unlike regular bonds, investors earn returns from ownership in tangible assets or projects, not from interest payments (which are not permissible under Islamic law). In simple terms, Nigeria is trying to raise money without “borrowing” in the traditional sense, at least not on paper. Before anyone dismisses the idea, it’s worth noting that Nigeria’s sukuk experiment isn’t entirely new. The country’s Debt Management Office (DMO) has already issued local sukuk bonds totaling over ₦742 billion since 2017. Read Full Article Here | https://h1.nu/Nigeria-Eyes-Global-Sukuk

When the World Bank released its latest Nigeria Development Update this October, the headline sounded almost hopeful: Nigeria’s economy is growing again. Numbers are moving in the right direction. GDP is ticking up. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) credits the gains to several bold reforms. Forex liberalization - allowing the naira to float more freely - has attracted foreign investors. The painful removal of fuel subsidy, as President Bola Tinubu promised, was “a necessary surgery” to save the economy. The numbers, to be fair, look promising on the surface. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product grew by about 3.2% in the second quarter of 2025. The services sector led the charge - telecoms, fintech, and trade. Oil production finally stabilized around 1.6 million barrels per day, after years of pipeline vandalism and theft. Nigeria is in the news again for something that looks good on paper: according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the country’s economy grew by 4.23% in the second quarter of 2025, compared to 3.13% in Q1 2025. For government officials, this is the perfect headline “the economy is growing.” For everyday Nigerians, though, the big question remains: “If the economy is growing, why am I not feeling it in my pocket?” The 4.23% year-on-year growth simply means that Nigeria produced and earned more goods and services between April and June 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. It’s like saying if your shop sold ₦1 million worth of goods last year, and now you sold ₦1.042 million in the same quarter this year, then you grew by 4.23%. Yet, despite all these “growth” numbers, the average Nigerian has not seen a dramatic improvement in standard of living. Why? Because growth does not always translate into development... As Rivers State prepares for the return of Governor Siminalayi Fubara on September 18 following the six-month emergency rule in the state, the sole administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas (retd), has defended his tenure, stating that he fulfilled President Bola Tinubu’s mandate and stabilised the oil-rich state. However, the opposition parties called for an investigation into Iba’s tenure, particularly his management of the state’s resources during his six-month stay in Brick House. The Peoples Democratic Party described Ibas’s six-month administration as a waste of time, declaring it unconstitutional, a violation of democratic norms, and demanding an investigation. Meanwhile, the New Nigeria Peoples Party dismissed the entire six-month rule under Ibas as an exercise in futility, claiming it lacked legitimacy from the outset. The Labour Party also criticised the emergency rule, alleging it was designed to protect the interests of President Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, rather than those of the people... The Police Service Commission has decried persistent attempts by vested interests to hijack its constitutional mandate of recruitment, promotion and discipline within the Nigeria Police Force. A statement on Monday by the commission spokesman, Ikechuwuku Ani, said the PSC chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), disclosed this when he received a presidential delegation led by Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination and Head of the Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit, Hadiza Bala Usman. Although Argungu did not name the organisations allegedly attempting to usurp the PSC power, the commission has previously been locked in a dispute with the Nigeria Police Force over the recruitment of cadets, a matter that was later resolved. Presently, the Commission and the Ministry of Police Affairs are at odds over admissions into the Police Academy, Wudil, Kano. The PSC had earlier dismissed as unauthorised an advertisement calling for applications to the academy issued by POLAC, while the Ministry, speaking on behalf of the academy, countered the Commission’s position. Argungu told the delegation that, beyond the Commission’s perennial funding challenges, one of the key problems the PSC is facing is unnecessary interference into its constitutional and statutory mandate. He called on the delegation to help cut off interlopers meddling in the Commission’s mandate. Read Full News Here | https://punchng.com/psc-raises-the-alarm-over-attempts-to-hijack-mandate/

Nigeria has deported 50 Chinese nationals and one Tunisian convicted of cyber-terrorism and internet fraud as part of a crackdown on foreign-led cybercrime networks, the country's anti-graft agency said on Thursday. Since the clampdown was launched on August 15 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in partnership with the immigration service, 102 people have now been deported, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale said in a statement. The Tunisian and Chinese citizens were among nearly 200 foreign nationals arrested in Lagos, Nigeria's commercial capital, during a raid targeting one of the largest cybercrime syndicates in the country, Oyewale said. Late last year, the EFCC arrested almost 800 people in a building in Lagos believed to be a hub for fraudsters who lured victims with offers of romance, then pressed them to hand over cash for phoney cryptocurrency investments... At least 40 worshippers in a mosque were killed Tuesday by terrorists in northwestern Nigeria, according to an official. A statement by Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Nasir Muazu, said the terrorists, locally referred to as bandits, launched an attack while Muslim members of the community were praying early morning prayers at a mosque. Muazu said that the attack was in retaliation for the community’s successful defense two days ago, as the people of Unguwan Mantau ambushed terrorists and killed many of the bandits. Villages were torched, homes burned, people slain. Survivors say women and children were dragged out of their homes. The scene was gruesome—vivid enough that many families rushed to retrieve their loved ones’ bodies for Islamic burials before official counts could rise further. The government, however, said security agencies have been deployed to the area to restore normalcy. “We are working towards bringing the bandits to book. As a government, we salute the gallantry disposition of the people of Unguwar Mantau, and we are committed to fighting the bandits and ensuring safety across our communities. The state government extends heartfelt condolences to the families affected,” said the statement. Read Full Article Here | https://h1.nu/unguwan-mantau-bloodbath-50-killed

The Capture of two notorious militant leaders—Mahmud Muhammad Usman, also known as the Amir of Ansaru, and Mahmud al-Nigeri, the deputy leader of the lesser-known but fast-rising Mahmuda faction—have finally been captured by Nigerian forces. The operation, which spanned several months from May to July 2025, was carried out by Nigeria’s security agencies under the leadership of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. According to official sources, it wasn’t a rushed effort—it was carefully planned, intelligence-driven, and executed with precision. Security operatives tracked the movements of the militants, monitored their communications, and eventually swooped in to make the arrests. Alongside the two leaders, digital evidence, documents, and materials were recovered, which could now help unravel the full network of their operations. Communities in the North, who have borne the brunt of militant attacks for years, are especially relieved. In places like Kaduna, Zamfara, and Katsina, where Ansaru and other groups have carried out attacks, locals say they hope this arrest will reduce the pressure of daily fear. Nigeria has officially launched its Digital Entry and Exit System, alongside a new e-Visa platform. This is not just a small upgrade; it’s the biggest transformation we’ve seen in Nigeria’s border management in decades. Whether you’re a tourist, a Nigerian returning home, or a business traveller, here’s the full gist of what’s new, how it works, and what you must do to avoid trouble at the airport. In simple terms, Nigeria has moved its travel processing online. Instead of filling paper forms at the border or embassy, most of the process now happens on a secure government website or app before you even pack your bags. This digital upgrade is a big step forward for Nigeria’s travel sector. If the system works as promised, it will save travellers time, improve the country’s image, and reduce shady airport practices. The Nigeria Immigration Service says self-service biometric gates will start operating in major airports like Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt by early 2026. So, whether you’re a Nigerian coming home for Christmas, a tourist visiting Yankari National Park, or a businessperson attending a conference in Lagos, make sure you’re ready for the new era of digital travel in Nigeria. When a country rewards each Super Falcons player with N150 million and a three-bedroom house for a 90-minute football match, yet sends police and military pensioners who served 35 years home with N2–5 million, no housing, no healthcare, and a pension too small to feed a family, what we have is not just imbalance it’s a moral crisis. zeuss:This is what we are facing in this country, but they can mourn Buhari 😥😥 |
On Sunday, July 13, 2025, Nigeria received the news it had been quietly expecting: former President Muhammadu Buhari passed away in a London hospital after battling an illness for several months. He was 82. While his health issues had been known, the announcement still shook many across the country. Buhari was more than a former president. To some, he was a military hero. To others, a democratic leader who fought corruption and preached discipline. And to many, a symbol of missed chances and unfulfilled promises. Buhari’s body was flown back to Nigeria and buried in Daura, Katsina State, on Tuesday, July 15, according to Islamic rites. The burial was attended by top dignitaries, including President Bola Tinubu, governors, military officers, traditional rulers, and thousands of citizens. A military parade, a 21-gun salute, and crowds chanting "Sai Baba" welcomed the former president’s final homecoming. His coffin, wrapped in the Nigerian flag, was carried with full state honour from the Katsina airport to Daura, where prayers and tributes were offered. Nigeria’s former President Muhammadu Buhari was buried in the backyard of his home in Daura, a town in the northern Katsina state, as supporters climbed trees and shouted “Sai Baba” to bid farewell to the 82-year-old. A military parade and 21-gun salute honoured the former president on Tuesday at the airport before his body was transported 80km (50 miles) to Daura, where crowds surged to catch a final glimpse as the casket was lowered into the ground. Buhari died on Sunday in a London hospital following an undisclosed illness. His coffin, wrapped in Nigeria’s green and white flag, was flown into Katsina and met by President Bola Tinubu, senior government officials, and mourners. Buhari, who first seized power in a 1983 military coup and ruled for less than two years, returned to lead Africa’s most populous country as a civilian after defeating Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election. The High Court in Lafia, Nasarawa State, has sentenced gospel musician Oluwatimileyin Ajayi to death by hanging for the murder of his girlfriend, Salome Adaidu. Justice Simon Aboki on Thursday found Ajayi guilty of culpable homicide after months of trial. The law is clear on this, and the punishment is death. Therefore, the accused is hereby sentenced to death by hanging,” Justice Aboki ruled. Adaidu, 24, was a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving at Nicon Insurance in Abuja. Ajayi was caught with Adaidu’s severed head in January.
