Aiit, I'm actually studying Electrical Engineering not mechanical. Mechanical is relatively harder than Electrical Engineering, so the best thing is to start from level 100, things not to do;
Don't be a Courserep
Don't participate in sug week
Don't participate is ethnic house meetings (waste of time)
Don't miss any night class (you can just read for 30 minutes, if you're too tired)

Things to do;
Do all assignments YOURSELF
if you're bad in engineering drawing, pay someone to draw for you (People settle for E in engineering Drawing cu they can't do it - don't!)
Have few girlfriends for cruize only, no over do
Draw your tables in physics and chem Practicals very neatly and boldly.
Learn to plot a graph
Read stories from Engineering first class Students (punch.com has a section)
Ask senior colleagues.

Target A in everything.
