The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Adams Oshiomhole, says the Department of State Services (DSS) cannot demand the resignation of a party chairman.

Oshiomhole said this when he made an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, in reaction to comments trailing his invitation by the security agency.

The comments also followed the alleged plan by some aggrieved governors of the party to impeach him from office.

The national chairman of the APC, however, debunked allegations that his invitation by the DSS was linked to any financial fraud case.

He said he was not arrested by but was engaged in a routine meeting with the security agency.

A sacked banker, Emmanuel Emeka Onuma, has been arrested for allegedly breaking into the vault of an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and carting away N14 million, reports Dailytrust.

The suspect, according to the police, was an employee of the bank where he was sacked, in August, for fraudulent activities. The suspect told journalists that he worked with the bank for about 11 years and that he was dismissed unjustly without any benefit.

He, however, said there was no justification for what he did. Explaining how the suspect was arrested, ACP Olumese said, “On 1st November, police operatives attached to Garki Division arrested Onuma, 34, who broke into the ATM lobby of a bank located in Garki on 19th October 2018 at about 12 midnight and stole the sum of N14 million.”

He said the suspect confessed that some of the money he stole from the bank was converted to foreign currency ($33,000) at Abuja and Kaduna for ease of movement. He added that $28,000, N1,650,120, nine pieces of Ghanaian cedis and flight tickets were recovered from him.

Malaria has allegedly claimed the life of Alswell Daniel, a corps member undergoing his NYSC in Kwara State.

Daniel, who happens to be a graduate of the Ignatius Ajuru University Of Education Portharcourt, Rivers State, died yesterday.

He was meant to finish his service by next month December 2018

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho claimed that Juventus are “super favourites” to win this season’s Champions League ahead of their clash in Turin on Wednesday.

Three-time winners United are second in Group H after three games on four points — five behind leaders Juventus who are poised to qualify for the last 16.

Mourinho said that United would not be distracted by Sunday’s Manchester derby in the Premier League, but accepted that his team’s Champions League fate will be decided by their final two games against Young Boys and Valencia.

“It’s a big match to play tomorrow, they’re favourites to win the competition,” said Mourinho.

“It’s big enough to not think about ‘what next?’

“It’s big enough to think just about the match against Juventus. It’s not a crucial match for us. It doesn’t matter what happens here.

“There are two more matches against Young Boys and Valencia (which) are going to define the second position.”



Manchester United have had to fight back to win recent matches against Newcastle and Bournemouth and Mourinho warned the club could not do that against Juventus, who beat them 1-0 at Old Trafford two weeks ago.

“We work every day to try but the reality is that normally we don’t start matches well, but if we don’t start well and we end well, that’s fine.

“It’s good fun for the fans, but football is 90 minutes and especially when your opponent is strong, if you give (a) 45-minute advantage, or even 20 or even 10, you have a mountain to climb.

“The good thing is that lately, apart from the Juventus match, we were strong enough to climb the mountain and change the match in the last minutes.

“When you play against a super team, like tomorrow, if you give an advantage away, it’s difficult to climb the mountain.”

Mourinho also said that the injured Romelu Lukaku would not be fit to play and could also miss the match against Manchester City.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved N30,000 as the new national minimum wage.

He gave his approval while receiving the report of the Tripartite Committee on the Review of National Minimum Wage at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

With the approval, a bill is expected to be sent to the National Assembly to effect the change from N18,000 to N30,000.

Recall that the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Trade Union Congress, TUC, United Labour Congress, ULC, and other labour unions met with the Federal Government yesterday over the minimum wage issue.

Coroner Says Rapper Mac Miller Died Of Drug Overdose

The 26-year-old performer, whose real name was Malcolm McCormick, was found dead at his home in Los Angeles on September 7 and the cause of death was deferred pending a probe.

The coroner’s office said McCormick died “from mixed drug toxicity,” with the powerful opioid fentanyl along with cocaine and alcohol found in his system.

“The manner of death was certified as an accident,” it added.

The Pittsburgh native and one-time partner of pop-star Ariana Grande had released his latest album “Swimming” days before his death and had been set to embark on a new tour.
“I adored you from the day I met you when I was nineteen and I always will,” Grande said in an emotional Instagram post after his death.

“We talked about his. So many time. I’m so mad, I’m so sad I don’t know what to do,” she added.

McCormick had been open in the past about his battle with drugs and his music often dealt with his depression and drug use.

Several artists, including Chance the Rapper, ScHoolboy Q and Ty Dolla $ign, paid tribute to him last week at a benefit concert in Los Angeles.
