PoliticsWike: 31 Days Of FCT Project Commissioning For Tinubu's 3rd Anniversary by Spotlight001(op): 3:08pm On May 31
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced an unprecedented 31-day marathon project commissionings across the nation’s capital to celebrate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.

Speaking at a political luncheon in Port Harcourt, the Minister showcased the administrative landmark achievements under his watch, attributing the massive infrastructural development to the strategic backing and vision of the President.

According to Wike, the month-long commissioning circuit will feature major road networks, public utilities, and massive urban renewal projects designed to completely reshape the nation’s capital.

Brushing aside critics, the Minister issued a direct challenge regarding the scale and quality of his administration's output in the FCT.

"This third year of Mr. President alone..., we are taking 31 days for commissioning of projects in Abuja. I'm not talking about boreholes. I challenge anybody to contradict this" Wike stated.

He emphasized that the rapid development unfolding in Abuja is a direct testament to purposeful leadership, throwing down a challenge to opposition figures to match the scale of the ongoing works.

While highlighting his milestones in the FCT, the former Rivers State Governor pivoted to a surprisingly reconciliatory tone regarding the intense political friction in his home state, offering a blanket pardon to all political opponents.

"I use this opportunity today, to announce that I have forgiven everybody," Wike declared, stressing that prolonged political warfare serves no constructive purpose.

"I want you to come back home sincerely... We have played politics, we have abused ourselves, this is the right time for you to come back," he added, urging estranged allies and adversaries alike to swallow their pride and return to a unified fold.

Despite the sweeping offer of peace, the Minister did not mince words regarding the resilience of his political structure back home, which he described as an invincible "rainbow coalition."

Wike issued strong warnings and assertions regarding the political landscape.

He explicitly warned external forces against attempting to destabilize Rivers State, stating, "Anybody from another state who is trying to destroy Rivers State, the person will have problems... You put your hand, you get fire."

He asserted that his political machinery has effectively locked down future electoral cycles.

"If you are talking about the governorship election in this state, forget it, it's gone... If you are thinking that any miracle will happen to overturn, to pull the rug off us, it's a lie," he stated.

Reassuring his supporters of their strategic dominance, he noted, "We are very over-alerted anytime, any day. We’ll take you back, we'll work with everybody. We are not selfish."

While other states grapple with internal party crises and bitter conflicts within both the PDP and APC, Wike maintained that his political coalition remained secured and fully prepared to maintain its dominance for the next eight years and beyond.

PoliticsPDP Crisis: Wike Dares Rival Faction To Open Party Account, Secretariat by Spotlight001(op): 11:53am On May 06
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday challenged rival factions in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to open an official party bank account and secretariat if they truly believe they control the opposition party’s structure.

Speaking during a live media chat with journalists on Wednesday in Abuja, Wike accused some party leaders of misleading Nigerians and violating court judgments in the lingering leadership crisis rocking the PDP.

The former Rivers State governor insisted that the faction opposing the party’s recognised leadership lacked legal standing and could not lawfully operate the affairs of the party.

“You cannot continue to deceive Nigerians. If they are sure they are the authentic leadership of the PDP, let them open an official PDP account and tell party members to pay nomination fees into it,” Wike said.

He specifically challenged Taminu Turaki, SAN, and other leaders of the rival camp to test their claims by opening a bank account in the name of the PDP.

“Let Turaki, as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, open an account for the PDP. Let them announce it publicly for members who want to contest elections. That day, you will see what will happen,” he stated.

Wike argued that no bank would recognise such an account because the faction allegedly lacks the legally recognised party structure and documentation required to operate.

“That bank will be in trouble because to open such an account, you must provide the party’s authentic documents and recognised leadership. Who has those documents?” he queried.

The FCT minister also warned against attempts to establish what he described as illegal party offices, vowing that any action capable of causing a breakdown of law and order in Abuja would not be tolerated.

“If anybody goes ahead to open an illegal office in the name of the PDP in Abuja, I will seal it. I will not allow any breach of peace because my duty is to maintain law and order in the Federal Capital Territory,” he said.

Wike maintained that court judgments had already settled the dispute over the PDP leadership and convention issues, accusing some actors of twisting judicial pronouncements for political convenience.

“People should stop deceiving Nigerians. The judgments are clear. You cannot ignore court decisions and begin to create parallel structures,” he added.

The minister further dismissed claims that the Supreme Court ruling favoured the rival faction, insisting that the legal processes and decisions available supported his position and that of the recognised party leadership.

According to him, attempts to reinterpret the judgments outside the established legal context were aimed at confusing party members and the public.

Wike said he remained a committed member of the PDP and was only defending what he described as constitutional order and due process within the party.

The PDP has remained embroiled in internal leadership disputes following disagreements over the party’s convention, caretaker arrangements and recognition of key national officers ahead of the 2027 general elections.
PoliticsTinubu Allocates Abuja Land To Envoys, Wike Urges Image Boost by Spotlight001(op): 2:38pm On Apr 29
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the allocation of land to Ambassadors and High Commissioners-Designate in Abuja, as part of efforts to strengthen diplomatic engagement and encourage closer ties with Nigeria.

Wike made the disclosure during a courtesy visit by Ambassadors-designate led by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dunoma Umar Ahmed, at his official residence in Life Camp, Abuja, on Tuesday.

Addressing the envoys, the minister said that the President’s decision stemmed from a desire to ensure that Nigeria’s representatives have a permanent stake and a residence in Abuja for when they return for periodic briefings.

"The President believes that most of you do not have a place in Abuja... he will encourage you to see how you will put up where you can stay.

"Before you leave this morning, each and every one of you should have your form to apply for a land allocation in Abuja," Wike stated.

He also noted that the gesture was aimed at deepening diplomatic presence in Nigeria’s capital while fostering stronger engagement between foreign missions and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“You are, in essence, the mirror of this country. The way the world sees you is the way it will see Nigeria,” Wike said, urging the envoys to uphold the nation’s image in their respective postings.

“You are, in essence, the mirror of this country. The way the world sees you is the way it will see Nigeria,” Wike said, urging the envoys to uphold the nation’s image in their respective postings.

He charged them to effectively communicate the vision and priorities of President Tinubu, particularly in attracting foreign investment and strengthening international partnerships.

“Mr. President has travelled extensively to attract investment and partnerships. It is now your role to reinforce that effort by building confidence in Nigeria as a viable destination for investment,” he stated.

The minister also used the occasion to dismiss concerns about Nigeria drifting towards a one-party state, insisting that the country remains firmly rooted in democratic principles.

“Nigeria remains a multi-party democracy. There is no plan to turn the country into a one-party state. You must communicate this clearly wherever you serve,” he said.

Highlighting development strides in the FCT, Wike noted that infrastructure expansion and improved road networks across the six area councils Abaji, AMAC, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, and Kwali were positioning Abuja as a competitive global capital.

He called on the envoys to attract investors, particularly in agriculture and waste management, noting that vast arable land in areas such as Gwagwalada and Kwali remains underutilised.

“There is enormous potential in agriculture within the FCT, but investment is still limited. We need your support to unlock these opportunities,” he added.

Wike further revealed ongoing efforts to partner with countries including Saudi Arabia and Egypt to boost key sectors, while also announcing plans for engagement with the European Commission to enhance development cooperation.

He expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, saying, “I remain confident that by 2027, Nigeria will be more peaceful, more united, and stronger as a nation.”

Earlier, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Ahmed, said the visit was part of the ambassadors’ induction programme, designed to expose them to the strategic importance of the FCT in Nigeria’s foreign relations.

He noted that Abuja, as the nation’s administrative and diplomatic hub, plays a critical role in shaping global perceptions of Nigeria.

“Our Ambassadors and High Commissioners have been entrusted with representing Nigeria at a pivotal moment in our nation’s development,” Ahmed said, adding that they were expected to promote economic diplomacy, attract investment, and project Nigeria positively on the global stage.

He commended the ongoing transformation of the FCT under Wike’s leadership, particularly in infrastructure, urban management, and service delivery, noting that such progress strengthens Nigeria’s international image.

Ahmed also called for stronger collaboration between Nigeria’s foreign missions and the FCT Administration to advance investment promotion, cultural exchange, and urban development initiatives.

The visit, he said, underscores the importance of aligning Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives with domestic development priorities, especially in positioning Abuja as a world-class capital and a hub for international cooperation.

PoliticsImo’s Broken Mandate: When The Bench Overruled The Ballot by Spotlight001(op): 9:53am On Mar 28
In the annals of Nigeria’s democratic journey, few moments have cut as deeply into public trust as the aftermath of the 2019 Imo State gubernatorial election and the controversial ruling of the Supreme Court of Nigeria that followed.

It was not just a judgment. It was, to many, a rupture.

A rupture between the people and the institutions meant to protect their will. A rupture that left citizens questioning whether their votes still carried weight or whether democracy itself had become a negotiable instrument in the hands of power.

When Hope Uzodinma was declared winner, despite not leading in the initial results, the decision sent shockwaves far beyond Imo State. It wasn’t merely about who governed; it was about *how* governance was decided.

For a people who had believed they were on a path of rebuilding under Emeka Ihedioha, the judgment felt like a sudden derailment, an interruption of continuity, a rewriting of a collective mandate.

And then came the silence of institutions.

Or worse, their complicity.

Under the watch of the Muhammadu Buhari administration, many Nigerians perceived a troubling pattern: judicial processes that appeared increasingly entangled with political outcomes. Whether perception or reality, the damage was done. Trust, once fractured, does not mend easily.

This was not just an Imo problem.

It became a Nigerian problem.

Because democracy does not die in one dramatic moment, it erodes gradually, through decisions that weaken public confidence, through rulings that raise more questions than they answer, and through a system that seems distant from the very people it is meant to serve.

Today, the question echoes louder than ever:

Can the will of the people still find its way through the labyrinth of power?

The name Ihedioha resurfaces in conversations, not just as a person, but as a symbol of what many believe was interrupted. A symbol of continuity, of a path not fully walked. But beyond personalities lies a deeper yearning: the desire for restoration, not just of leadership, but of faith.

Faith in the process.
Faith in the judiciary.
Faith in Nigeria.

Because without that faith, elections become rituals without meaning, and governance becomes an imposition rather than a mandate.

Imo stands today as a metaphor, a cautionary tale of what happens when the delicate balance between law and justice tilts too far from the people.

The real question is no longer about “Hope” as a name or slogan.

It is about whether hope as an idea, can survive in a system where the people feel unheard.

Until that question is answered, the shadow of that judgment will linger.

And history, as always, will be watching.

PoliticsWike: Loud In Abuja, Loud In Rivers - Lawal Ogienagbon by Spotlight001(op): 8:40am On Feb 27
The outcome of the polls was a twin victory for Nyesom Wike, the man who has continued to affect the politics of Nigeria in a mesmerising manner. Wike seems to loom over everything political across the country, even in states where they say he is not popular. These are states where those not in his political camp hold sway. As much as his political foes try to put him down in their states, he still manages to rise to their utter consternation.

As Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, Wike has mastered the art of his high office and married it with his politics both at home in Rivers and outside in Abuja. Last Saturday, council elections and by-elections were held in FCT and in two constituencies in Rivers. The road to the polls was rough and tough, especially in FCT, where the coalition of old and spent politicians threw everything in and not in the books at him for, as they say, personalising the polls.

For them, the Abuja elections were a must win. They must be won to prove a point, and that point is ‘Abuja has always belong to the opposition’. Truly, Abuja does not play by the rules. It has always cut a path for itself in political and other matters. It likes to assert its independence as a standalone capital city without link to any state, principality or power. It does not simply go with the grain. This well known fact has imbued some politicians with the belief that Abuja would, come rain or shine, go the opposition way.

Even without lifting a finger, these politicians believe that no matter who they field that person would always win. This myth was shattered on Saturday. And by who else, than Wike? The poll was a direct contest between Wike and the opposition, especially the fledgling coalition group of African Democratic Congress (ADC), and the rump of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which at the height of its glory not too long ago, described itself as the largest party in Africa.

Wike leads a faction of the fractious PDP, but he is a diehard loyalist of President Bola Tinubu. He does not hide his support for the President. Wike can be loyal to a fault. If he supports you, he does so to the hilt. He can take a bullet for those he believes in. Time and again, he has shown that he can go to any length when he is fighting a cause. He throws everything into the battle. He saw the Abuja elections as a battle and he fought it as such. Make no mistakes, Wike takes no quarters, and those who have come up against him, can attest to that.

It is better to be for Wike than against him. Only someone like Wike can leave his political base in Rivers where there was also an election (whether by or not, election is election) that same Saturday to face squarely the council polls in Abuja. He cast his own interest in Rivers aside for the sake of the President in Abuja. Wike knew that back home, his flanks are covered, with a strong base that has weathered many political storms with him.

His belief in his support base to take care of the home front gave him the confidence to concentrate on the Abuja polls, without leaving anything to chance. Wike was all over the place before, during and after the elections. He mobilised for the contestants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who he saw as the President’s candidates. To Wike, he was supporting the President and not APC. He has said times without number that he is not a member of APC, but a supporter of Mr President whose praise he sings at every turn.

Wike rewrote the history of Abuja elections with the performance of the ruling APC in last Saturday’s polls. The ruling party won the elections hands down. It was a landslide as the party won five of the six area council chairmanship seats that were up for grabs. No ruling paŕty has ever done that in the electoral history of Abuja. Wike made known his position on the elections from the outset. Left to him, there would not have been any elections, if he had his way. He wanted all the APC candidates to win unopposed. This was why he appealed to PDP candidates to step down for their APC counterparts.

Some heeded his call, others did not. Wike’s strength as a leader is his ability to identify, organise and deploy assets to further his political interests. He may not always get it right, as we have seen in certain cases, but give it to him, he has the courage of his conviction. Once he sets his mind to something, he goes all out to execute it. The glory of APC’s victory in the Abuja polls goes to him. To borrow the words of a one-time favoured political godson who at the height of his power as governor proclaimed that he was “loud” in two states, Wike is “loud in Abuja and loud in Rivers”. He does not have to boast about it like that politician who fell from grace. It is something he has earned.

Wike today stands astride Abuja and Rivers as a politician who can determine the fate of others. He has come a long way as council chairman, chief of staff, minister, governor and minister, again. Recognising his role in the APC victory, the President said of Wike who he apppointed minister in 2023 that “his remarkable achievements in the territory have yielded political dividends to the governing APC”. It is a fitting tribute. Wike deserves the accolade because he showed class and purpose in the polls in FCT and Rivers. APC cleared the two House of Assembly seats contested for in the Rivers by-election. How else can a politician prove his mettle?

Wike’s victory is the loss of the opposition, especially ADC. Trust him to rub it in. He said the outcome of the poll was a clearcut statement on the status and stature of “the ruling party and the real opposition”. He was in his usual manner needling and calling out the ADC ‘coalitionists’ to see the handwriting on the wall ahead of the 2027 elections, and give up the fight. I do not think they will give him the joy of being called chicken-hearted.

Politics2027: Atiku’s Son, Abba, Defects To APC, Backs Tinubu’s Re-election by Spotlight001(op): 7:19am On Jan 16
Abubakar Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has defected from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging to work for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

“My name is Abubakar Atiku Abubakar, but everyone calls me Abba. I am here today to formally announce my exit from my former party, where we worked in 2023, and my decision to join the APC,” he said.

He attributed his decision to what he described as the outstanding leadership style of Senator Barau Jibrin and the performance of the Tinubu administration.

“With this development, I will work with Senator Barau to actualise the second-term bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. To this effect, I am directing all coordinators of my association to join the APC and work for President Tinubu,” he added.

Politics2027: Wike Urges Other States To Replicate Rivers Rainbow Coalition For Tinubu by Spotlight001(op): 6:35am On Jan 05
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged other States to emulate Rivers State’s rare ability to build a broad-based, cross-party political alliance, for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring that no state currently matches the Rivers State “Rainbow Coalition” model ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Wike said this during his thank-you visit to Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State southern Nigeria.

The Minister insisted that Rivers State has consistently demonstrated an uncommon capacity to mobilise support across political divides.

According to him, politics in Rivers State now transcends party affiliations and is anchored on collective unity and shared purpose among the people.

He stated that "As of now, this is the only State where politics is not about parties but about the Renewed Hope Family.

Other States should also adopt this level of organic unity and inclusiveness towards total victory for the President in 2027,” Wike said.

He added that Rivers’ political strength is rooted in a long-standing tradition of cooperation and consensus, which has helped the state to remain stable despite sustained pressures and attempts to weaken its political structure.

The former Rivers State governor expressed optimism that political stakeholders would eventually harmonise their strength on a single political platform ahead of 2027, noting that such alignment would further strengthen unity and strategic focus.

Wike, who warned against political complacency, stressed that popularity should never be taken for granted.

He admitted that mistakes were made in past political negotiations but assured supporters that valuable lessons had been learnt.

“We had agreements in the past, people emerged, and we all saw the challenges that followed. We will not make those mistakes again. Politics requires firmness, clarity and the courage not to go backwards,” he said.

He maintained that opposition forces have lost relevance, insisting that the will of the people has already prevailed and that no group has been cheated or sidelined in the political process.

Wike also commended Rivers people for supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at a time when many Nigerians doubted his chances, describing their action as an act of good faith that deserves appreciation.

Speaking on his role as FCT minister, Wike said his emergence reflected the character, resilience and contribution of Rivers people to national development, adding that visible projects in Abuja mirror the diligence and commitment associated with the state.

He urged Nigerians to support governance that delivers results, noting that leadership must be earned through trust, unity and performance, not assumed as an entitlement.

“This is the time for everyone to come together and do what is right. Where governance is working, encourage it,” he said.

Wike, in his closing remarks, thanked supporters for their loyalty and pledged sustained engagement, describing gratitude as a vital element of leadership.

Earlier, the Executive Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area, Hon. Chita Eugene Epelle described Wike’s visit as a moment of pride and renewal for the council.

He praised the FCT minister’s leadership qualities and achievements, noting that his impact in public service resonates far beyond Rivers State.

“Despite your busy schedule, you found time to visit Ahoada West, and for this we are deeply grateful. Today, we receive you as our leader, our hero and a proud son of Ahoada West,” Epelle said.

On behalf of traditional rulers, community leaders, party stakeholders, youths, men and women of the area, the council chairman reaffirmed their continued support for Wike, praying for good health, wisdom and strength as he continues to serve the nation.

PoliticsG17 Reacts As Oyo Installs Seyi Tinubu As Okanlomo by Spotlight001(op): 4:21pm On Dec 23, 2025
The leadership and membership of G17 warmly congratulate Barrister Seyi Tinubu on his recent installation as Okanlomo of Yorubaland, a distinguished traditional title conferred by His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, the Alaafin of Oyo.

This historic honour, bestowed by one of the most revered traditional stools in Yorubaland, goes beyond ceremony. The title, Okanlomo, meaning the beloved child of the people, is deeply symbolic. It reflects trust, affection, and expectation, and it carries with it a moral obligation to serve, uphold values, and contribute meaningfully to society.

For G17, a platform committed to good governance, youth leadership, cultural pride, and national unity, this moment represents more than celebration. It is a reminder of the enduring relevance of traditional institutions in shaping character, guiding leadership, and anchoring modern influence in timeless values.

We view this recognition as a call to service. We encourage Barrister Seyi Tinubu to continue to embody humility, accessibility, and purpose, while using this cultural responsibility to promote unity, inclusive development, and meaningful engagement, especially with young people who represent the present energy and future promise of our nation.

G17 believes that honour is sustained by impact. Titles derive their true worth not from prestige, but from service to the people, protection of heritage, and commitment to the common good. In this spirit, we urge that this new role be carried with wisdom, restraint, and a clear sense of responsibility to both tradition and nation.

Once again, G17 congratulates Barrister Seyi Tinubu on this significant cultural milestone and wishes him grace, insight, and strength as he carries the expectations of the Alaafin of Oyo, the Yoruba people, and Nigerians at large.

Politics2027 Countdown: Ihedioha And The Reawakening Of The Imo Project by Spotlight001(op): 8:06pm On Dec 03, 2025
As Imo State approaches another defining election season, one name continues to dominate civic conversations with remarkable consistency: Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha. For many across the three zones of the state, Ihedioha represents more than a political figure, he symbolizes The Imo Project, a return to order, accountability, and people-centered governance.

His political journey, from the National Assembly to the short-lived governorship, has been marked by measurable service. In Abuja, he secured federal projects, strengthened representation, and gave Imo a respected national voice. In Owerri, his seven months as governor remain a benchmark: the restoration of due process, activation of the TSA, civil service reform, local government autonomy, a surge in quality road works, and the revival of development institutions. These were structural interventions, not cosmetic politics and the people remember.

Today, Imo faces anxieties familiar to every citizen: insecurity, institutional decay, and the erosion of public trust. It is no surprise that conversations around leadership renewal often return to the man whose brief tenure proved that governance can be transparent, predictable, and beneficial to the ordinary Imolite.

Ihedioha has maintained a calm, disciplined presence since leaving office. No theatrics, no brinkmanship, only a steady commitment to democratic values and the wellbeing of the state. This posture has strengthened his stature as the people’s governor, the one whose mandate was interrupted, not defeated.

As 2027 approaches, Imolites are assessing who can restore confidence in government, rebuild weakened institutions, and lead the state with competence and conscience. Increasingly, their conclusion is clear: the unfinished work of rebuilding Imo has a natural custodian.

When the people decide, the Imo Project may well return to the man who first defined it with action, not promises.

PoliticsFCTA Begins Enforcement On Ground Rent, Land Use & Title Defaulters Next Week by Spotlight001(op): 11:56am On Nov 20, 2025
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) will from next week Wednesday, November 26, 2025, commence enforcement actions on defaulters of Ground Rent payment and Land Use Change/Conversion fee as well as Right of Occupancy (R-of-O) and Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) bills.

The FCT Minister's Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, made this known in a statement on Thursday.

Recall that on May 26, 2025, following the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, granted defaulters on ground rent 14 days grace to pay up their outstanding ground rent, with associated penalties.

Also, publications were made on Monday 8th September 2025, Tuesday 9th September 2025, and Wednesday 10th September 2025, in some national dailies and online platforms, on the reviewed Land Use/Purpose Clause of properties in the FCT, giving 30 days for the payment of penalty/violation fee of ₦5 million and other applicable fees for Land Use Change/Conversion.

Another public notice was published in national newspapers as well as online platforms, and aired on television and radio stations, granting defaulters of the land use/purpose clause of properties in Asokoro, Maitama, Garki and Wuse districts in the Federal Capital City (FCC), a final grace period of 14 days to comply with the terms and conditions of the approval for land use change and conversion.

The 14 days grace on payment of Ground Rent expired on June 9, 2025, more than five months ago, while the 14 days extension on the land use/purpose clause will end on Monday, November 24, 2025.

Consequently, the FCTA will from Wednesday, November 26, 2025, commence enforcement actions on defaulters of Ground Rent payment and Land Use Change/Conversion fee as well as Right of Occupancy (R-of-O) and Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) bills.

The enforcement will also include all those who purchased properties from other people, but are yet to register their interests by obtaining the mandatory Minister’s Consent and registering their Deeds of Assignment.

PoliticsStates, Lgs, FG Now Share Over N2trn Monthly Due To Tinubu’s Leadership - Wike by Spotlight001(op): 3:28pm On Oct 23, 2025
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Thursday said President Bola Tinubu took a bold decision in removing the fuel subsidy.

Wike noted that, despite initial public outcry over the decision, conditions have begun to stabilise.

He made the remarks while delivering the keynote address at the 2025 Innovate Africa Conference in Abuja.

According to Wike: “You may not be right, but you must take a decision and that’s what this present government is doing.

“People forget where we were yesterday. The day Mr President decided to remove fuel subsidy, I don’t know how many people will be in a position to take that decision. So bold, very difficult decision. But sacrifices must be made and some of us started crying, ‘how can you remove fuel subsidy?’ The masses are suffering.

“But by the grace of God, that decision he took – very difficult decision, that made a lot of prices to group, price of fuel up – today, things are stabilising.”

The minister also revealed that States, Local Councils and the Federal Government now receive over N2 trillion monthly from the federal account, attributing this increase to the president’s bold decisions.

Wike said: “500 billion naira in a month for the federation. Never. I’ve never had more than 10, 15 billion a month.

“Today, not less than 2 trillion is being shared every month. Why? Because of the removal of the fuel subsidy.”

PoliticsFCTA Not Into Anambra-type Beer Parlour Development – Wike’s Aide Mocks Obi by Spotlight001(op): 12:50pm On Oct 16, 2025
Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has told the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to rescue himself from the political wilderness that he is presently, rather than jumping up and down, seeking media attention, by turning himself into critics of everything, including the most ridiculous.

Olayinka, who said the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) under Wike, was not operating the kind of "Mad Man Advice Induced Beer Parlour Development" that Obi did in Anambra State for eight years, added that; "In the FCT, real and verifiable development is taking place.

"73 schools are presently being renovated across the six Area Councils in the FCT, while 21 have been completely renovated."

Obi, who visited LEA Primary School in Kapwa, Abuja, had taken a swipe at the FCT administration over what he called the appalling condition of public schools in the FCT, describing it as a national disgrace that exposes Nigeria’s hollow commitment to education.

However, while admitting that there are still schools in the FCT deserving attention of the government, Olayinka said; "Unlike Obi, who did nothing to uplift the education sector as Governor of Anambra State, the Wike-led FCTA has been building and renovating schools.

"102 contracts have been awarded for renovation of schools in the FCT, and as at today, 21 schools have been completely renovated and works are ongoing in others."

He challenged Obi to tell Nigerians how many schools he built in Anambra when he was governor, adding that "If as Governor of Anambra State, he had performed the same magic he has been lying to Nigerians he could perform in four years, Anambra State would have become a reference point in terms of development.

"As Governor of Anambra State for eight years, he chose to keep the State's money in his own bank instead of using the money to build schools, roads, hospitals and other critical infrastructure.

"Today, Anambra State is still suffering for Obi's eight years of mad man advice induced misgovernance, with his successors trying to fix the rot he left behind.

"The same Obi said yesterday that he can change the trajectory of Nigeria in four years and I am challenging him to show Nigerians how he changed that of Anambra State in eight years."

Describing Obi as Internally Displaced Politician (IDP), looking for a permanent abode in the media space, the FCT Minister's Spokesperson said; "It is funny that someone who should be bothered that he does not have a platform to contest the 2027 election, has turned himself to a political wonderer."

Olayinka asked; "Under which party is Mr One Shoe contesting the 2027 presidential election? Will any party still award its presidential candidate to him simply because he can lie about having one shoe and one wrist watch the way the Labour Party did in 2023?"

If you like make all your senseless propaganda in your Apc group,2023 has already shown what reality entails, which on average the common Nigerian stands with Obi. How can LP rig anything outside SE in the presence of big bogus Pdapc?? Yet Obi crushed them in Lag,Abj, Calabar all States with FCT titles where on a normal day you get to meet Nigerians from various Tribe, religion and set.

Come 2027 Obi or Atiku or anybody who picks the ADC ticket will be President. The COALITION stood firmly even into the ballots in 2015 against all odds, they will stand together again. Guess what, this time they have a bigger advantage bcus it's already 12m votes for ADC.

Obi has nothing to prove. Mbadinuju gave him the relevance and Atiku gave him the climax which no Igbo governor supported his choice as vice. Stoop to conquer is what ndi Igbo needs.

mrvitalis:
Some of you talk like ...... Swear that if Obi didn't contest he would be in the question for any political calculations today?

Obi needed to prove a point that he and the people backing him matters and must be considered for any equation

The reason they are begging obi to take VICE now is because he contested

Like i said Tinubu is not very smart he just willing to do anything

Jonathan contesting would render everything he has done useless because Jonathan would sweep South South and South East and win him in the North

Atiku/Obi ticket would defeat Tinubu before 2pm

2023 proves on things if the people really want a candidate the governors and political office holders are over hyped
PoliticsExpect What You Have Not Seen During Tinubu’s Third Anniversary – Wike by Spotlight001(op): 5:51pm On Oct 14, 2025
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday declared that Nigerians will see what they have never seen before in Abuja during President Bola Tinubu’s third year anniversary.

Wike assured that Tinubu would ensure that Nigeria gets to the promised land.

He spoke during the commissioning of access roads in Sector Centre B, by Dakibiyu District.

According to Wike; “By next year, Mr President’s third year anniversary, Nigerians will see what they have never seen before.

“So, I’m pleading with all Nigerians to continue to be patient, we will get to the promised land, and through Mr President it will be a different narrative, you can see it coming.

“As far as FCT is concerned, will anybody, no matter how you may hate anybody or how you felt to have lost the election, somebody has to win as there is no in elections, somebody will win and the other person will lose.”

The Minister also noted that critics can't deny the ongoing transformation in the capital city, adding that such is a testament to the works of the president.

“So even if you hate Mr President can you deceive yourself to the point that you will say nothing is going on in the FCT? Certainly not.

“So from there you will also know what Mr President is doing in other areas, see where we are either to flag off or to commission projects and that is what the dividends of democracy is all about,” he added.

Wike, who also emphasized that he works for President Bola Tinubu, said "his (Tinubu) judgment, as far as I am concerned, has always been aimed at putting this country in the right perspective.

“I have told people not to bother; be focused. When you start delivering, achievements will silence all critics. Today, they have nothing else to say, but we are concentrating on roads, and I said, take it easy.”

Wike also disclosed that his administration intends to focus on the education sector soon: “Very soon, they will see that we will be focusing on schools, so critics will have nothing to say. They wake up in the morning and tune in to national television and all they will see will be what we are doing.”

He also acknowledged the supportive role of his Minister of State, Mariya Mahmoud, noting her cooperation in carrying out his responsibilities as FCT Minister: “My dear Director of Ceremony, you have said it all. In 2011–2012, when I was appointed Minister of State for Education, that was when I met you, and you gave us all the necessary support in running Universal Basic Education and the Almajiri schools. I am happy to have a Minister of State who has been very supportive.

“It’s not easy to have two ministers working so closely and cooperatively. I was a Minister of State, and I knew what happened in other ministries. Without working together, you cannot achieve anything.

“So, Minister of State, I want to commend you and thank you for the support. I also thank, in particular, the FCDA through the ES for your support. Most of the projects we are commissioning have been under you and the Coordinator of STD.”

PoliticsLawyers Petition US Govt To Probe Sowore’s Finances, Tax Records, Visa Status by Spotlight001(op): 12:10pm On Oct 08, 2025
A group of lawyers based in Abuja, have petitioned the Attorney General of the the State of New York, United States of America, seeking investigations into the financial activities of Sahara Media Group Incorporated and its owner, Mr. Omoyele Sowore.

The lawyers, in a petition on their behalf by Heartland Advisors & Solicitors, dated October 7, 2025, and submitted at the United States Embassy in Abuja yesterday, also demanded a "suspension, and or invalidation of Sowore's U.S travel documents."

Demands in the petition signed by Barrister Sunday Oluwole and Barrister Felix Olanrewaju Wolemiwa, also include; "Examination of Sahara Media Group Inc.’s financial records, including the MacArthur Foundation grant, for compliance with New York nonprofit laws (e.g., N-PCL § 112), investigate whether funds raised by Sahara Media Group Inc. are used for their intended charitable purposes or diverted to personal or political activities and review Mr. Sowore’s individual and corporate tax filings for compliance with U.S. tax laws, particularly regarding income supporting his U.S. property and lifestyle."

The petition titled; "Request for Investigation into Financial Activities of Sahara Media Group Inc. and Mr. Omoyele Sowore," read; "We are writing to respectfully request your office’s review of the financial activities of Sahara Media Group Inc., a New York-registered entity, and its founder, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, a Nigerian citizen residing in the United States. This request stems from concerns about potential discrepancies in nonprofit financial reporting, tax compliance, and asset declarations, which may impact both U.S. and Nigerian public interests.

"Mr. Sowore, a prominent activist and former Nigerian presidential candidate (2019, 2023), operates Sahara Media Group Inc., which runs Sahara Reporters. Public records raise questions about the organization’s financial transparency and Mr. Sowore’s personal financial disclosures, particularly given his political activities abroad."

They listed their key concerns to include; nonprofit Funding and Transparency, noting that Sahara Media Group Inc. received a $1.3 million grant from the MacArthur Foundation (2016–2019) for journalist training in Nigeria, and alleging that limited public reporting on the utilization of these funds raises concerns about compliance with New York nonprofit laws requiring transparency and proper use of charitable funds.

"On asset declaration discrepancies, the lawyers alleged that "In 2023, Mr. Sowore reportedly declared to Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ownership of a single Nigerian property valued at ₦5 million and a 2008 Toyota Camry. However, public records indicate he purchased a U.S. property around 2018, valued at approximately $552,000, which may not have been disclosed in his INEC filing. This raises questions about potential concealment of assets or perjury under Nigerian law, with possible U.S. tax implications if unreported."

Raising questions about Sowore’s financial capacity and lifestyle, the lawyers said "Reports suggest Mr. Sowore’s son attends Dwight-Englewood School in New Jersey, with annual tuition of approximately $59,235 (2024–2025). This, alongside his political campaign expenditures in Nigeria, appears inconsistent with the reported financial capacity of Sahara Media Group Inc., which operates primarily as a media outlet. A review of his income sources and tax compliance could clarify whether these are supported by legitimate, reported earnings."

They also said that "In 2018, GoFundMe temporarily suspended a $2 million fundraiser for Mr. Sowore’s “Take Back Nigeria Movement” due to concerns about its purpose. Though later restored, this incident warrants scrutiny to ensure funds raised in New York comply with charitable solicitation laws."

"Given your office’s authority to oversee nonprofit organizations registered in New York, I respectfully request that you examine Sahara Media Group Inc.’s financial records, including the MacArthur Foundation grant, for compliance with New York nonprofit laws (e.g., N-PCL § 112), investigate whether funds raised by Sahara Media Group Inc. are used for their intended charitable purposes or diverted to personal or political activities, review Mr. Sowore’s individual and corporate tax filings for compliance with U.S. tax laws, particularly regarding income supporting his U.S. property and lifestyle and suspend, and or invalidate his U.S travel documents.

"This request is made in good faith to promote accountability and transparency, protecting the integrity of nonprofit operations in New York and public trust in cross-border political activities."

PoliticsWike Flags Off "Light Up Abuja Project" To Provide Solar Lighting Across FCT by Spotlight001(op): 9:18pm On Oct 02, 2025
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, today, flagged off Lot 1 and 2 of the transformative 'Light Up Abuja' project, which involves the provision of integrated (hybrid) solar lighting across Abuja's districts and expressways.

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, speaking during the flag-off ceremony in Abuja, said the project was designed to provide uninterrupted light across the various districts and expressways, and it is an essential step towards improving security and the city’s aesthetic appeal.

The FCT Minister emphasized the importance of a well-lit Abuja, which he said was crucial for national pride and development, especially as the city approaches its 50th anniversary in February next year. He expressed the belief that

He said; "the Light Up Abuja project will dramatically transform the city within the next seven months and improve security.

"In the next seven months, it will be a different thing. Anybody coming to Abuja, not only will you see good roads, you will see the entire place being lit up.

"The hybrid solar system comes with surveillance features, said it will enable the immediate identification of anyone attempting to vandalize or steal the facilities.

"Criminals will run away because when there is light everywhere, by the time they come to steal our facilities, at least you know that people will see you.

"Upon assumption of office, he met a situation where nearly 80 percent of the FCT was plunged into darkness at night, directly contributing to a rise in insecurity.

"Previous maintenance contracts were often awarded to political contractors, resulting in payments for maintenance without visible results.

"To solve the recurring problems of darkness and infrastructure sabotage, the FCT Administration took a decisive action during an investment-driven trip with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Beijing in 2024, where key agreements were signed with two reputable international firms - Chinese Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGC) and Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) to provide water to the satellite towns, which is currently ongoing, and to light up Abuja.

"The contracts stipulate that the companies were responsible for the full maintenance of the streetlights for four to five years, thereby eliminating the previous costly and ineffective system of perpetual maintenance.

"The FCT Administration expects attacks from three main groups - the previous contractors who will now lose their lucrative maintenance contracts, criminal saboteurs who thrived in darkness to steal cables, and FCTA officials involved in generating maintenance files.

"I am undeterred by any sentiments or political campaigns. We have made a decision. This work must be done, and I will do it with the support of Mr. President, and that is what is key."

PoliticsWike Unstoppable: FCT Enters Day 6 Of Back-to-back Project Flag-offs by Spotlight001(op): 7:51am On Sep 30, 2025
Today, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, flagged off the construction of a road project from the Bill Clinton Drive of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to the Tunga Madaki community in Abuja.

The road will link 10 communities with the airport road and will also extend to Zuba Road in future.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in Abuja on Monday, September 29, 2025, the FCT Minister emphasized that the project, which will bypass the Airport's second runway, is a direct fulfillment of a promise made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to the nine affected communities within the airport precinct that gave up their land for the construction of the second runway.

The Minister said, "One of the things that the communities asked for is that they had to be connected and linked up with roads; it would be quite unfair that their land was collected for a second runway, yet they have no access to even go to the airport. It does not make sense. I had to take this matter to the President, and Mr. President said, ‘Whatever they ask for, give it to them’.”

Wike stressed that the road project embodies the essence of the Renewed Hope Agenda, demonstrating that the President Tinubu administration is a "listening government" that cares for the people and fulfills its promises. He noted that the road will bring development to nine previously underserved communities linked by the project.

He said, “For the first time in your life, you have come to a government, and the government said, what do you want? The only request you have made is a reasonable request. We must attend to you, and today we are attending to you. What does this show? It shows you that the government of Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is a listening government, it’s a government that cares for the people, it’s a government that makes promises and fulfils the promises made”.

The Minister expressed optimism that the road will be completed and commissioned in June 2026 during the third anniversary celebration of President Tinubu's administration.

He also used the opportunity to urge the communities to support the current AMAC Chairman, Christopher Maikalangu, who, he said, persistently championed their cause for the road project, encouraging them to “remember the man who remembered you during the rainy season”.

PoliticsRights Group Slams Sowore: Reporters Unpaid, No Employment Letters by Spotlight001(op): 5:06pm On Sep 28, 2025
An Abuja based Non Governmental Organisation, the Society for Rule of Law in Nigeria (SRLN), has raised concern over the treatment of workers, especially Editorial Staff of Sahara Reporters, like slaves, earning paltry sum of money per story published without employment letters.

The group, which accused the owner of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, of living large while underpaying his workers, added that editorial staff of Sowore's Sahara Reporters do not have any letter of employment stating their conditions of service and entitlements.

Rising from its meeting in Abuja on Sunday, the SRLN lamented in a statement by its Coordinator, Dr Chima Ubeku, that reporters who daily risk their lives to report stories for Sahara Reporters are paid peanuts while Sowore is paying over N200 million as school fees for one of his children per annum.

It said it was even more worrisome that Sowore, owner of the online media platform has been everywhere, agitating that policemen should not earn less than ₦500,000 per month. Meanwhile, his own editorial staff are not paid any salary.

The SRLN described as inhumane, a situation where those working for Sowore are not formally and properly employed and are being paid per story, without any fixed monthly remuneration.

It is sad that Sowore, who claimed to be a human rights activist is contravening the Labour Act, 2004, which is the principal legislation governing employment relation in Nigeria.

The SRLN called on the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) to intervene and save journalists working in Sahara Reporters from slavery they are being subjected to by Sowore.

But as at that time Sowore owned a property in the US which he bought at $552,000 (about N850m now).

He did not declare this property, thereby lying on oath in his Code of Conduct asset declaration and this is a criminal offense.

Violations of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act attract severe penalties, such as asset forfeiture, and a 10-year ban from holding public office.

Lying on oath is also a criminal offense, which attracts 14 years of imprisonment.

Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Saturday lashed out at activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju over his comment regarding the Minister.

Olayinka said Adeyanju wants to eat coalition money like he did with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) social media campaign money in 2015.

His comment comes as Adeyanju urged former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, to allow criticism of Wike following the FCT Minister’s latest jibes at his former political ally.

Wike and Amaechi have been at each other’s necks lately, with the duo reeling out claims and counterclaims against each other.

Tinubu’s govt. constructs 150km roads in FCT satellite towns – Wike

The administration of President Bola Tinubu has constructed not less than 150- kilometres of roads in satellite towns of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) between 2024 and 2025.

The FCT Minister, Mr Nyesom Wike disclosed this in Abuja on Monday, during the inauguration of the newly constructed rural road from A2 Junction (Abuja-Lokoja Expressway) to Pai community in Kwali Area Council of the FCT.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports road was among the 17 projects executed by the FCT Administration and being inaugurated to celebrate Tinubu’s second year in office.

Wike said that the 150km roads consisted of both completed and ongoing projects.

“This shows that the emphasis is not just to improve infrastructure in the city, but also to improve life and other infrastructure in satellite towns,” he said.

He explained that the 15-km A2 to Pai road was executed under emergency intervention after the contract for the construction of Pai to Gumani was awarded.

He added that the Pai to Gumani, another 15-km road, was ongoing and would be completed before the end of the year.

The Minister added that a 13 km road from Gumani to Yangoji had been equally awarded.

“At the end of the day, along the stretch of this road, we will have done about 45 km,” he said.

The minister equally recalled that Tinubu approved six emergency roads in the six area councils of the FCT in the 2024 National Budget.

According to him, the six road projects had been completed and inaugurated in 2024.

“When we were appointed in August 2023, in our supplementary budget, we included six emergency roads in the six area councils, and you provided funds for them in the national budget.

“I want to inform you that these roads have all been completed and inaugurated.

“We are providing these data so that doubting Thomas can go and check whether they are in existence or they are just mere propaganda.”

He identified the roads as the 9km Paikon Kore to Ibwa Road in Gwagwalada Area Council, and 7.2 km Gaba and Tokulo Road in Bwari Area Council.

Also completed and inaugurated were the 5km dualised Kuje township road from Tipper Garage to LEA Secretariat in Kuje Area Council and the 11km Sukuku-Ebo-Yangoji. Road, in Kwali Area Council.

Others are the 5km access road to Saburi I and II in Abuja Municipal Area Council and another 5-kilometre road in Abaji Area Council.

“For the 2025, we will also inaugurate the completed 10km of Aguma Palace, Radio Nigeria and Market Road in Gwagwalada.

“There is also the 18km Nyanya Karshi dual carriageway.

“We are equally going to inaugurate the 7.4 km Dutse Alhaji to Usuma Dam Road and the dualised Ushafa to War College and Army Checkpoint Road, a 16.4 km road and other roads in Bwari Area Council.

“If you calculate the ongoing roads and those completed, within the satellite towns, we have constructed not less than 150 km of roads,” the minister said.

He said that the roads were strategic not only in improving the lives of rural dwellers and economic activities but also in improving security response in satellite towns.

Recent claims circulating on social media accusing Prince Laja Adeoye of forgery and falsification of documents are entirely unfounded and constitute a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation. These allegations are nothing more than a politically motivated onslaught against a young, principled entrepreneur who has conducted his affairs with integrity and transparency.
We categorically state that Prince Laja Adeoye has not engaged in any form of forgery or falsification. His business dealings, including legitimate partnerships with government entities, have been conducted above board. Those peddling these false narratives are urged to present any credible evidence in a court of law, as social media is not a substitute for due process.
The sponsors of this smear campaign, evident through their use of questionable social media accounts and unprofessional bloggers, have failed in their attempt to discredit Prince Adeoye. Nigerians are discerning and can see through this orchestrated attack. The individuals behind this propaganda, driven by envy and political motives, are known and will be exposed in due course.
Prince Adeoye remains focused on his lawful endeavors and will not be intimidated or harassed by those seeking to drag him into their unproductive schemes. Nigeria is not a lawless state where baseless accusations and political vendettas can suppress a rising star. We trust in the rule of law and believe that truth and justice will prevail.
We call on the public to disregard these malicious claims and reaffirm our confidence that God will continue to vindicate the just and righteous.

National Convention: Why PDP Chooses Kano.

By Yusuf Bala Abdulkadir.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has once again turned to Kano, the ancient commercial hub of Northern Nigeria, to host its national convention, scheduled for August 28-30, 2025.

This decision, announced by the PDP Governors Forum in April 2025, and affirmed by the 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Party in May, 2025, is not merely logistical but a calculated move steeped in political strategy, historical significance, and a desire to reposition the party for the 2027 general elections.

While some may view this choice as routine, a closer examination reveals why Kano is not just a venue but a symbol of the PDP’s aspirations.

Kano’s selection reflects the PDP’s intent to reconnect with its grassroots base in Northern Nigeria, a region critical to any party’s national ambitions.

As one of Nigeria’s most populous states, Kano wields significant electoral influence, often dubbed the “political heartbeat” of the North.

The state’s diverse population, blending urban and rural voters, offers a microcosm of Nigeria itself—making it an ideal stage for the PDP to project unity and strength.

By choosing Kano, the party signals its commitment to reclaiming lost grounds in recent elections.

Historically, Kano has been a battleground for political supremacy. The state’s political landscape is shaped by a legacy of progressive politics, from the days of Mallam Aminu Kano and the Northern Elements Progressive Union (NEPU) to the modern era of competition between political parties.

The PDP’s decision to hold its national convention here is a nod to this history, an attempt to tap into the state’s tradition of populist and reform-minded politics.

This move underscores the PDP’s desire to present a united front in a state where loyalty and grassroots mobilization are paramount.

In my view, the PDP’s choice of Kano is a statement of ambition. It’s a recognition that to win in 2027, the party must not only resolve internal divisions but also win over the hearts of voters in key battlegrounds.
