By Japanese Schools , you mean Japanese language schools!!!!!

Kindly indicate better.
National and private universities are also Japanese schools
Thanks briar for pushing the try MSc straight idea; my mind was previously made up on - language school before MSc . But having seen this numerous rejections from the former, I will now go for the latter and pray I’m able to learn while studying

On today’s episode of applying to Japanese schools, it’ has done on me that using agents will work better… Question is how do I get contact of trusted agents for Japan

TravelRe: Japanese Visa And Travelling To Japan by SpreshMan: 3:10pm On Apr 14
blackbriar:
National Universities offer Japanese language programs for free.
That would run concurrently with the MSc program?

Major concern is being able to work, left for me I’d prefer to go straight to MSc … if I can get jobs easily, then I would prefer this type of school you suggested, I would then pay attention to learning the language afterwards.

Gerrard59:
Most language schools have agencies or there are agencies that send/process applicants' documents to study at language schools in Japan. Most of these agencies are run in Southeast Asian countries and China - two biggest sources of language schools. The South Asian nation - Nepal - is a new entrant.

For your program and most social sciences and humanities disciplines, yes, I will highly recommend language schools (at least a year) before a master's degree. This is because almost all, if not all, the jobs you will be qualified for would mandate an appreciable level of Japanese proficiency, without which you cannot get a job. With the new rule mandating language proficiency of at least N2, it will be become very tough or almost impossible for someone who is to work in non-STEM fields to get a job without knowing Japanese.

Also, you would find very few universities with humanities programs that admit foreign students who don't speak Japanese. It is rare. A friend searched for universities that offer early child/special care education master's program in English, but found two and both had stringent rules regarding her BSc. The rest were in Japanese.

My advice? Search for language schools that admit directly without requiring the applicant to go through an agency. Cameroonians have it better though as there is a Japanese language school there. They study up to N3 level, get a visa to write N2 and above, then secure jobs and viola! They remain in the country.
Thanks for breaking it down this way… I will lock-in right away on finding out other language schools

Hello guys, I know i may be reprimanded for repeating questions but kindly pardon me as I want to get things straight.

I made an application to isi international lang institution and I got the attached response… however I want to know if I’m doing it right, as someone looking to do MSc in Japan … is it language school first b4 the actual MSc or can I still do MSc ignoring language advantage.

I hold Bsc in pol science

I honestly want to thank everyone who has contributed to this thread, through the series of questions you guys dropped and by me answering them, I have gotten a little bit of clarity: my topic generalized japa but my mind focused on Uk, and realistically looking at it, deciding to go to Uk regardless of the inadequate funds and unclear plans would be tantamount to suicide. I was going to pay 6k pounds deposit today or tomorrow but I will halt and restrategize.

Thank you all

Are you currently valuable? Is the course you are going to do valuable? Would you have been able to get a job in the UK without the course you are going to do?

There are differing reasons why people japa (me having japa,ed back in 94 instead of going to NYSC) but your situation and goals should be your determinants. A lot of us japa'ed without goals but we knew we could survive first and thrive later. Now is much later and a lot of us are considering returning but to what? Start a business - a lot of unknowns. Get a job - definitely not. Retire and do nothing - too young for that. So we remain .

UK - I believe you can figure out a way to beat the system if you are resourceful but it will take a lot of time and effort and sacrifice.
By answering this questions in my head, and telling
Myself the truth, it looks like outright gamble … the course is business management.
I’m not gonna just spend 40 million just for the degree if I can’t get Pr afterwards.

But still I really want to escape Nigeria

No risk no gain. Whichever you decide, to japa or not, there will be risks. The question for you is which will be worth it?

UK has become meaner than ever. Shoul you chose to japa, consider the following;

1. How to fund your remaining fees on barely 20 hours of work with the added expense of living. It will be practically impossible to pay up the outstanding if your whole plan is to depend on the 20 hours of work you're allowed on a student visa. And in a case of default in paymemt, school could easily withdraw your CAS and you'll be forced to return home or stay illegally. This has happened to a lot of people I know personally.

2. Routes to extend your leave beyond that very 1.5 years of postgraduate visa are very limited. If your degree is not in the health sector or you don't have a solid tech skills and portfolio, you will struggle to find work that sponsors you for a COS.

These two are the most important things you need to think on. What you decide is up to you.
I think you just hit the exact angle of my thought.

I’m thinking if minimum wage is 12.79 per hour and I got to work maximum of 20’hours per week that is 250 per week and 1000 per month as it is on paper. Can I pay a balance 8000 pounds from this or do people have a way of working more hours without the system knowing.
And 2 the fact that the path to residency is not so clear.
A lot of people are traveling which means they are probably manuevrjng the stuff but I can’t gamble to find out

pansophist:
Japa to another country not the UK.

It is almost impossible to switch from temporary study visa to something permanent. Your ability to work severely restricted, and the uk economy is not the best.

It is also not in the Schengen zone or the eu, so you’re stuck in that little overcrowded island with lots of immigrants like you looking for greener pastures.

The system understands why you’re there and makes it difficult for you and your type as the years go by, while making sure it milk out any cash you have left.

Yes you will look fresh, your pictures will be fine. But you’ll probably be broke, stressed, single and emotionally drained.

Go to other Schengen countries, it’s better. You can travel all through Europe and explore opportunities, with multiple chances to become a permanent resident.
Thanks for this. It resonates with my line of thought that there is no end goal in sight for me. I need to be able to dream of PR and also earn.

I will go for it … staying in Nigeria is no better and maybe I would find an end goal when I get there

I think you should japa but try to research other European countries, visa, cost of living, PR & work hours while studying, so that you can make an informed decision. Goodluck.
Does it mean you see reasons with the anti japa crew ?

If you are waiting for "incentive" that people are not talking about online to do or not to do anything, then...hmm...why put in for the admission process? Why stress yourself?

There's NO INCENTIVE because they differ for every one you see out there. That means you find yours!
I really don’t have a friend or family member staying there that can tell me the truth about how things over there, so I really mostly on information gotten on the internet: one shows a lot of people traveling and another is from critiques giving reasonable points why you why isn’t all rosy embarking on the journey; you’d be confused if you were me too… and considering my age, I don’t just wana jump blindly.

It maybe worth it at the long run....but honestly if you can get a work visa in a "smaller European country" with low cost of living its far better, even though their minimum wage is low, remember cost of living is still very low...at least you save about 15m from your 21m in your account in case of anything you have funds to fall back to,and lastly you don't owe any 10m debt...

For the UK, like two years would be very very tough for you before you become stable financially
Which countries do you think and what’s the chance of getting their visas ?

Understand context...None is lying as some of you will want to make it look!

You are an adult and know what works for you. If after sitting and counting the costs(whatever that is) and it works for you, why not? But if not...do the needful!

All these threads some of you create is just needless!

Once more, you are an adult...
Well It’s because on the surface, my brain as an adult tells me it’s outright risky : starting from zero again and being debt with no meaningful goal at the end: ILR and Pr; but I’m brushing that off as negativity/pessimism and wondering why and how most Nigerians still do it— there must be some kind of incentive/benefit that people don’t talk online.
TravelAnti Japa Crew Vs The Japa Crew, Who Is Lying? by SpreshMan(op): 11:05am On Mar 11
I recently got conditional offers from most schools in the Uk, one is starting in May and I have also deferred one to the September but my mind wants to go for the one in May.

However the kinds of arguments I read online about whether or not Japa is worth has got me confused.

I know about minimum wage being about 12-15 pounds and maximum of 20 hours per week, I know work visa after graduation has been reduced to 18 months and even the condition for ILR being extended last year.

So I’m seeking advise from people would be Honest whether it would be worth it to spend around 21 million to embark on this journey and still have a debt of close to 10 million naira since I’m paying half of the school fees. Will it be worth it ?

Are the people preaching against japa being honest ?

I can relate to this.
Trading is not for the weak.

Trading is cool when you're profiting and not so cool when you're losing funds.

You just have to know when to stop and leave with your profits.
I can’t agree more to your last line … that’s what keeps you profitable

Every success is born of numerous failures. Try to learn from all of your failures continually....that is how you can eventually succeed, and do so well. undecided

2. There are numerous opportunities out there for everyone, yet only a few people succeed at any of them. Why? Most people never take the time to learn from their many failures. Failure is part and parcel of life and living. In fact, it is through the many failures that you can guarantee your success. So, don't look down on failure in life. Consider seeing them as the opportunities you seek to rise one more level above towards success. undecided
Thanks for the kind words man. I just pray it’s smooth sailing and application of the lessons from here. One good thing about me crying all over the internet is that if I ever cross those financial levels again, I will make reference to here when I was scared, fearful and skeptical of making it back. I pray I’m destined to make it all back

When u are doing Crypto pls, always add other stuff to it,it would give u time and options.

Like me,I spread my investments across lands and what I do to make the real cash and liquid cash such as mutual funds being the least.

There is no way if I fail here,I would never fail flipping land in choice locations. Not those landed properties in Lagos where agbero has created problems upon.

I am talking about FCDA/Agis lands...where it would be hard to get fake lands except on Local council plots.
It was so funny how the whole thing happened, it’s not like as if I didn’t know how easy it was for people to lose it all…. I was brainstorming and making researches how to properly split and invest my monies but I wasn’t resolute yet… I can remember going for a land inspection at Idu around April and in the next month the tragic losses happened. Sometimes I even wish had just locked the whole money in PiggyVest and didn’t have access to it

Not everybody is gonna relate with this post and that’s fine but this post highlights my 2025 failure.
It’s really funny how I started the year on a positive foot, riding on the Sucess of 2024 crypto bull where i made 20 million plus toward the end of the year, by the end of February 2025, I had made additional 30 million naira plus . Little did I know it was time wrap it up or slow down. I did slow though because I remember not trading much in the month of march, but somehow, someway, with social media pressure of keep chasing the bag, I went back to trading around April and it was a downward spiral from there. Minus $1k here, -$500 and so on . Around May, I took my biggest loss of the year losing 10 million naira in one single day. I think that sealed my fate as regards financial level; after making the obvious move of chasing my loss… I was down and sub 30 million naira networth.
I didn’t stop, reading stories online, I saw there were people who lost their networth and somehow made it back… so I kept trying and trying and failing and failing. Guess what it’s the end of the year and I have found I couldn’t make it back… I couldn’t go past 30 million again. People yap about how a man can fall 7 times and rise back 7 times but in reality it’s very hard. In the last two months, I have been trying some physical hustles and I can tell you for free that’ it’s hard to come about and hold 10 million naira together.
I wasted the year 2025 and I am scared if God/universe is gonna give me another opportunity to come up again.
