Prinzofparis:Thanks a lot for buttressing the point I have been making earlier. Wow! How amazed am I. Ok I am so sorry if I have offended anyone here. The last time before yesterday I commented on this forum was probably around August 2014. I never bragged about my age or felt subdued about it. If I can remember vividly, I was trying to ask a question as I was not yet used to the recruitment system here and it was my 1st time of knowing what nairaland was since I googled Nlng recruitment 2013 and I saw this forum. I can't go through all the pages to see all comments, even realised the forum was shut down before I joined. Just like I logged in yesterday and found people discussing politics, its effect on the recruitment, etc, I joined the conversation with my own little contributions (ok accepted, I type a lot, but please bear with me, I am not familiar with writing/typing in shorthand or abbreviations). Someone insinuated I feel bad about the teenage years stuff, but with all honesty I don't because I wish I could even go back some years back. (In a context of being free and having fun) #imissmyteenagedays... I think adulthood sucks, all your close friends scattered all over the world *Sighs*. But since we are in this stage of life now, we have to live up to it and take the decisions ourselves. Majekdom2 my dear, if you read through my comments yesterday I never judged buhari for being too old, I said "I JUST CAN JUDGE HIM BASED ON HEARSAY AND THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE ABOUT HIM, SINCE I WAS BROUGHT INTO THIS WORLD YEARS AFTER HIS REGIME." And you even made a comment earlier that it is the individual not the party (*copied from your post you quoted me earlier* "lastly, it is not about the party but the individual. voting for a less popular party does not equate a credible candidate.." , and now you say you support buhari because you believe the party has something new to offer! (*copied from your 2nd to last comment* "Am only asupporter of buhari because of the party he belongs to as I feel they got something to offer." I just want to believe there's a misunderstanding somewhere along the line. And I did not even register to vote, neither did I support Jonnathan or Buhari nor had this conversation been to change your mind about any of them. Its either you are a Democrat or Republican or Neutral. It is hard to convince any of the two to ditch their parties, that's why there's always a presidential debate to convince the Neutrals. That's exactly what's happening among pdp, apc and "the rest". Based on the neutral I have always been, I said; if I were to vote it will be Jonathan, but if I were to campaign will campaign against apc and pdp but for a smaller party. Then I also dropped an advice I guess. The reason for the choice is that the few years I lived here before I left during secondary school and my nysc and few times I have been around, the projects and developments are better compared to the previous administrations. Sure-P road funded projects and the railway I was opportuned to see in kaduna, Abuja and Lagos-benin, Asaba-Onitsha road was the one that shocked me, could not believe we were passing the dreaded Onitsha (please *dreaded* is meant in good faith) then the electricity projects in ondo and kogi. Well I know the MegaWatts added cannot be sufficient for everyone, but I can guess the population and number of buildings 10years ago were lesser than now. And which administration (the ones I knew during abacha to obasanjo) added more than the present. So without sentiments even if Buhari or jonathan or any of my *smaller parties* will be able to completely solve the electricity challenge, rather its by increasing the number of people who have access to it gradually till it peaks. Its not necessarily gas turbines and Power plants, but a wind-power farm can solve the issue of power in some little villages located in windy and dry and desert areas who just make use of low/medium energy consuming equipments. I rephrase the question you asked me and I say to you: How many airports (local and international) were in Nigeria 8 years ago and how many people could afford to fly 8 years ago as compared to now? If your answer is fewer airports and fewer people like mine is, then I believe there's progress in the management, pricing and acceptance of new airlines (atleast I just heard about medview last year, just googled and saw some new ones), upgrade and construction of some airortd, Yes! The cites might not be catchy or nice to me! but I accept patience is really rare in the thoughts of people in a developing nation like Nigeria, but we are all educated in this forum and we know such projects aint necessarily just gonna have a project duration of two years even with all risk assesment and analysis. For example: Most oil and Gas projects from FEED to Completion and handover takes a minimum of 6years for completion, but because people don't travel through subsea pielines or offshore facilities, they and the press hardly disturb the government, but once profit sharing begins, the government is in trouble... I believe its information and education that is paramount for a growing nations. Although I haven't been to any of the new universities, from what I can sense from your question, they aint looking so good I guess. But its a good starting point, let the schools start functioning and let the rich, old student, politicians and government grow and expand it with funds. At least I two uncles one attended FUTA and the other Nnamdi Azikiwe University awka and the joy and suprise on their faces when they were talking of not even being able to recognize their school anymore because of the tremendous developments and infrastructures on ground (please I am not saying its jonathan that is the cause of the school developments). I'm just saying creating new universities and schools is really a commendable achievement... After all histories of some universities and high schools in the UK started with locations in family sized houses. Apologies to anybody or group of persons or institutions that are sensitive to government and political discussions who have been offended with any of my comments as I am just on a week holiday and less busy, just tryna exercise my brains and ideas here. Scarlet, I always like the way you drop your comments since I joined this forum, it does put a smile on my face. So I give up.... No more political discussions from me! Will love to have some discussions on Nlng, Oil and Gas if anyone can please come up with one, as I will love to learn even if its for this one week I'm free. Yes!!! I just remember someone saying Nlng is not an oil and gas company sometime here, but I attended an event when I came for my nysc and NLNG were awarded the best Oil and Gas company in Nigeria. You can google and confirm it. Honestly I'm kinda confused when someone said it isn't an Oil and gas firm, in as much as I know their feed is gas and most of their products are Gases too, but will still ask questions. Cheers ladies and gentlemen, have a splendid weekend. |
Majekdom2 I'm not used to commenting and nairaland but since I'm on holidays for a week, I think I'm gonna enjoy this. (Mind you, we just sharing Ideas and having fun, no hard feelings or provocation meant) Atleast you know I am no supporter of any of pdp or apc, Neither am I interested in the election. Some people say change but I ask change from what to what? It is still the same circle of people that we are just recycling. I have not spent so much time in Nigeria but with the little I have, I was opportuned to spend some times in Lagos, Portharcourt, Akwa Ibom, Abuja and Kaduna. So am going assume based on my little knowledge: In Lagos the things people say about Tinubu I don't know how true or false it is but I can assume they mean he's corrupt. Portharcourt they talk about Amaechi. Abuja and Kaduna: Jonathan, Buhari, Kwankwaso, Obi, all other corrupt names, etc. I understand you support Buhari and I aint here to convince or support any of him or jonathan. Now let's be honest, apart from Buhari and Jonathan which other presidential candidate do you know his capabilities? I myself do not know anyways, but my aim of saying "WE" should ditch both is to see the good in the others and their parties who have not been dented with corruption and bad images yet. Out of contest, Try to imagine Apc and Pdps reaction if Undp or AA win the presidential election; at least their will be peace and rest for sometime and believe me AA or undp will ensure they rule well and reduce corruption. If we exclude Insurgency (Please let's not go into BH because its too deep), the present government has tried with the completed projects and on-going. Yes there's corruption! no doubt. But nigeria is among the top 5 fastest developing nation in 2015 (based on statistics carried out by CNN with 2014 projects and infrastructural development). So jonathan is not clueless but has some corrupt-driven people around him; which to me is exactly the same thing that applies to buhari. So I want to believe the reason some people want Buhari is to fight corruption, but the bitter truth is he can't do it with the people sponsoring him. But I guess Nigerians believe in Trial and error only, so they should keep trying, maybe Jonathan/Buhari will work one day. You made a point that made me believe your enlightened and reasonable to quite a good level to exchange Ideas with, which is: "If I may ask you , aside the pay and career prospect , why do you wish to work for NLNG ? To contibute your service to the nation I guess." Well, my career I think is on the right track and will still be on the right track if I join nlng. With all honesty my 1st consideration are the pay and a conducive working environments; which will all lead to contributing POSITIVELY to the nation as I'm tired of traveling all around the world in the name of working for a company acquiring projects all over the world without thinking that the younger ones will also need to settle down one day. Which ministries can you give credit to in this present administrations? For me: Agriculture, Finance, Education and power (I don't know where Sure-P and YouWin fall into but they have performed well to my own personal satisfaction)! |
majekdom2:Majekdom2 I am glad you saw it through that I just came off my teenage years and I am grateful to be on this platform sharing ideas as we atleast are of the same age group in the recruitment exercise. You made these comments: "The black Americans once fought and died for rights , it is never new .am sure if you go through history , you would know America is well over 300 years hence am sure they passed through this." I just want us to go through them in alignment to my own previous comments that I guess you read and quoted. (TO make it interesting to other readers, U denotes Majekdom; I denotes Stacydual.) U: The black Americans once fought and died for rights , it is never new. I: In USA U can stress yourself for your own human rights not politicians. Portrays: We are saying the same thing on human rights, not Politician rights! U: am sure if you go through history , you would know America is well over 300 years hence am sure they passed through this. I: As for buhari, I was brought into this world years after his military regime, so I just can judge him with hear-says and researches I do online. Portrays: I have done a research/history on the other candidate but still cant judge him. and You have done no research on the American history but prefer to assume they passed through this. Now what is the "this" they passed through? For those who have read the history as I have, can testify it is not in line with the Nigerian situation. Let us not use the word corruption to give this country's challenges a single problem.... Based on history, USA faced the following: Wealth being held by not more than 10 persons The mining of minerals especially Steel! Commingling of some states and empowering only few from the affected state (Thats where the issue of W. Indies started) Then came influx of slavery for these hardworks, then came electricity generation which made a family super rich, then different races fighting to be the true Americans, A certain Man was even richer than the country that he can could lend his country money, then the blacks, etc.... I aint explicit for a reason, hoping you can do the research because I just came out of my teenage years not long ago and do not want to sound like I wanna mislead my Age grades. I will assume we all know Nigerian history down to the present; which shows the challenges are centered on: Amalgamation of Nigeria Too much Ethnic group, languages and culture Religion Lack of proper information (Not necessarily just education) Oil and Gas Exposure and open-minded reasoning or argument. Now do we have to follow USA template or tackle things presently and "futuristically" and that is why I made the following statements: REASON: So if lets say APA or UDP wins presidential election, the shock PDP and APC will get, there will be total wipe out of these old politicians, and these new parties will grow without accepting bad ones from either of APC or PDP. It is still the same set of people that are migrating from PDP to APC and back to PDP. FYI: If PDP or APC wins their will still be court cases everywhere, imagine if any of the smaller parties wins, how and where can they start laying accusations. Meaning; to kick all old politicians away and shock them by giving them no room to keep doing the usual (Win/Lose - Keep filling court cases), and let the new parties operate carefully and always seed out the bad ones ("AND THESE NEW PARTIES WILL GROW WITHOUT ACCEPTING BAD ONES" .The content is not meant to offend any persons or individual or institution but just my own way of "Newly-Off-teenage years expression and discussion" @ FGUN14 and WIZARDofOZ: The presentation was nice... Thanks for sharing. Try and get your hands on the 3 days Offshore west Africa presentations which just ended yesterday it is very informative, I just have hard copies and disks but they should post some vital info online, you can google them, the program is been conducted by pennwell. Cheers Ladies and gentlemen. |
Wow! can't believe this thread is still alive. Hope you guys have been good. I don't know what has gone down since I left; but seems it has to do with politics. For me; Jonathan should continue the next 4 years. As for buhari, I was brought into this world years after his military regime, so I just can judge him with hear-says and researches I do online. The honest truth is Apc should have used candidates who have done well in a particular position recently to challenge Pdp, because Nigeria is still a developing nation and this generation will be confused with the stories of Buhari and will rather not vote. Well, I have another course to attend so I won't even be around for the election. But I do not think it will affect the recruitment, if Goodluck wins, MAYBE the recruitment process will continue normal as it has because it started Nov,2013, which was during this present administration. If Buhari wins, MAYBE the recruitment might be altered... In as much as I never registered to vote or had any interest in politics; If I were to vote, I will take all calculated risks and assessment of Jonathan and Buhari and I will go for Jonathan not because he's a lesser evil or better angel but because during the course of my life, he's a better president than the rest. But if I were to campaign for anyone, it will be. "Do not vote for APC and PDP during presidential election!" "Vote for APA or UDP or any of those smaller parties" REASON: So if lets say APA or UDP wins presidential election, the shock PDP and APC will get, there will be total wipe out of these old politicians, and these new parties will grow without accepting bad ones from either of APC or PDP. It is still the same set of people that are migrating from PDP to APC and back to PDP. FYI: If PDP or APC wins their will still be court cases everywhere, imagine if any of the smaller parties wins, how and where can they start laying accusations. ADVICE: Do not stress or kill yourself for politicians, they care less about your individual being! Its just a collective care! Even in USA, people will support but will not stress themselves for them. In USA U can stress yourself for your own human rights not politicians. |
coolio2014: Institutions? Please how did you come about this info? coolio2014: Institutions? Please how did you come about this info?At least I know they have contacted schools abroad. I told you guys earlier this is LNG not other Nigerian companies. They won't do things just the way Nigerians think things are done normally. These guys will go extra mile to get the best out of the best. And to disqualify people for some good HR-Reasons known to and by them only. Some people on this forum might even be part of the HR team ![]() Don't think its more easier now.......300 is quite a competition. 3P's of Success: Prepare practice Perform |
Collintos: Hi Guys Check this up and try this too...Your views are highly welcomedI will tackle this exercise by carrying out research and survey to ascertain the elementary causes (Check the number of cinemas within a 30KM radius, if any, what their ticket sales look like. Also look into: the client's staff attitudes, Quality of movies shown, what type of movies the show, comparing how long it takes the company to start showing new movies as compared to its competitors and other larger Cinemas) . I think the average age and type of visitors, opening hours and probably quality of service might have led to the decline in profit. MY RECOMMENDATIONS 1st as a small independent Cinema the company should adopt to opening at early hours during summer or holidays for younger once who will always want to visit the Cinema more often, blockbuster movies should be on a dedicated screen, a screen should be dedicated for a lower PG rating of 13. The other two screens should be alternated according to demand and trendies. 2ndly, Sales of ticketing should come with free drinks+snacks for a day during the week and a day during the weekend, For the company to attract more customers. Finally, staff debriefing on the current happenings and decisions to initiate "Op-Amass Customers" should be executed. While attitude and trainings of company staff should also be revisited. |
Your new company XYZ is an up and doing US Company that produce high-tech goods, with 70% of its sales coming from the Ghanaian market. XYZ wish to increase its Base in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Nonetheless, interaction with the local population are poor; benefits and employment benefits for building the factory haven’t materialised, as most of the highly skilled labour are from the US. Expatriates are paid heavily which pushed up cost & standard of living leading to resentment. The Managing Director is aware of this resentment and wants to improve the situation. The directors have agreed that up to $400,000 may be spent on a scheme to benefit the community and lift the company's image in the community. Shortly after you were employed, the Staff working on this had proposed the only 3 Schemes that are feasible in that zone before he was killed in the stampede in Lagos. 1st Scheme: local clinic wants to set up a new cardiac disease unit. A donation of $400,000 would make this possible. Scheme 2. Dion-YMCMB is a charity that runs a band for young people as one of its activities. The Dion-YMCMB has been invited to tour South of Nigeria next Summer. The company could enter into a deed of covenant to pay the Dion-YMCMB $100,000 for the next 5 years. Scheme 3. PHC United is a local football club and a Championship Division club sometimes seen on TV. $350,000 would advertise the company in the ground and on the team's playing jerseys for 3 years. Managing Director and General Managers’ views are as follows: GM Finance Calculations: • Scheme 1. No tax savings would accrue. • Scheme 2. Tax savings from this would be $25,000 p.a. • Scheme 3. A tax saving of $100,000 would accrue from this. GM Logisitcs feels: • Scheme 1 would infrequently increase sales at all. The unit would be small but the publicity would be affirmative. • Scheme 2 would give a moderate increase to sales in Nigeria. The company will soon launch a marketing operation in Nigeria, though there would be no advertising, the company's involvement would be publicised. • Scheme 3 would have a major impact on sales. Some problems are that Basketball is as popular as football in Port Harcourt and hooliganism has been a problem at PHC-United. The Managing Director has said that he would like to see other benefits to the company as well as the public relations boost. The Managing Director is leaving for a meeting with a client which will last for a maximum of 25mins and has asked you as a promising and young Staff, to make a recommendation on which of the schemes the company should support and why, for consideration by the Board of Directors at its next meeting holding immediately after he’s done with the client. |
For my 1st post, if I offended anyone with my write up or information; It was not on purpose. I followed this post once in a while, but was not a fan. I am just being honest - In Future's voice Crocodile Infested River - Bridge crossing I believe the critical words/Phrases there are: Torch absolutely needed 2People at the slowest person's pace From all permutations and combination I have been able to come up with the fact that we can't cross this bridge at that time with this stipulated conditions which cannot be clarified by our Invigilators. Prineofparis was spot on with my own analysis/calculations, but I have come to understand Ceetee,s proposition. So I believe Ceetee's Idea of presenting the case is favourable. ANALYSIS and QUESTIONS we should ask ourselves: NO length or breadth of bridge was given, No condition of the bridge was given (Broken, old, half-completed, built with concrete or rafts), NO mode of crossing was stipulated (Running or walking), No Age or conditions of the participants were mentioned (Healthy, cripples, Phobia) ... So we do not have these information. So if we make do of what we have Ceetee's Idea is ok by me, but any other person with other ideas no matter how crazy it might sound should please come up with it as we are working against Time. SCOPE WAS LIMITED AND WE CANT JUST MAKE ASSUMPTIONS, Imagine this: (For example: if Audu can run and Adeyinka is crippld, it means Adeyinka can only walk on the bridge to hold both sids depending on what kind of bridge it is. But if she is to cross with Audu who can Run, Audu will have to hold the torch and help her to cross and that's why they will cross at Adeyinka's pace) |
This is my 1st post on nairaland, I won't discourage or encourage what U have been doing here. I am 23yrs of age with 2years experience before I came 2do NYSC and in the process applied for this. When I first came back to write the first stage of this NLNG, I stumbled upon this thread but became furious wen I realised I had to wait for weeks to make a comment after registering. Since then I just became a "Silent follower". And found out some stuffs which I believe most of us take for granted >>> I can tell you I was laughing throughout when I was writing the SHL because I registered and paid online and practiced as much questions as possible everyday. Wen I saw the last section I nearly went mad because it was just something in a textbook I bought and read in Camp when I was bored. Now we are all successful; but am gonna give some advice. I got to realise that in Nigeria, people are more dependent on ideas and things to get them to Success faster and not realising the consequences or taking "mitigative" actions..... Somebody said practice practice practice on this network and he is 500% right. People were disqualified from the entrance gate during the 1st n 2nd stage but never knew.... Remember you are "competing" to be selected: We can share ideas for group work, Case studies, but on answering some interviewing question please don't ever do it here or public, if possible keep it to yourself or communicate privately (HR in every organisation has a trend and their junior or young employees are given tasks like this; to investigate social sites and comeback with feedbacks). When out of 350, 100 are answering almost all interview question in the same pattern, the bar *might* be raised higher for these particular people. I have witnessed friends of mine get kicked out for this kinda situation Never give out your answers of personal interviews publicly....Someone called Ddplacement made comments in an elegant way (That shows he knows the System and trying to beat HR) but later he decided to stop, ask yourself Y? and who contacted him to stop and how? Assessment Center - ADVICE: From my final Summer class before graduation we were advised to register and practice Case Studies, Group/Teamwork, Role plays, we even got to be supervisors during these AC-practice at a stage and that really helped most of us, I have only been unsuccessful in 1 AC amongst all and dat was my 1st.... Now please: Try and register in an online practice centre or some school portals that offer that. Solve case studies, group work in public/nairaland with friends but please #Understand the pattern and sequence of analysis, Do not ever be expectant of seeing the same case Study# Watch some case or group studies online. There is an ebook I will try to check on my school portal if it still exists, will host it so anyone interested can download/read it, it will help you pass interviews and ACs. in as much as its close to 290 pages, I took my time to read and made small notes, since then, I hardly read for an interview or AC. There are friends of mine working in Multi-nationals in Nigeria that made it to this stage, and they keep making it to this stage for a reason, they are as intelligent as we all are but ask yourself how do they do it. *Extensive Research* which can never leave them. Some of the participant in this AC stage are here to negotiate higher salaries. Do not be intimidated, because most of them will mistakenly forget this is a GT-position and give more than required. Ask yourself what are you expected to achieve within 6months after you have resumed work in NLNG Use that as a basis for all the answers to your interview questions. I will make a contribution to the bridge crossing Case-study and ask some questions. Even though I cant remember all the Case-study questions I have done before, will share to my remembrance... |
