isaco: I like dis thread! Anyway, let's tell oursef d truth, if all dis artists all listed here play highlife, that means all Nigeria artists r all highlife artists except few. As a juju/highlife artist my self, n as a yoruba man, ther r hundreds styles of music in yoruba land not to talk of igbo, hausa, edo, benue settings etc. Even amidst hiphop artist today, their style differs. Yoruba has fuji, juju, pour highlife, waka, juju gospel, were, apala, awurebe, dadakuada etc, I nid someone frm other tribe to list ther style of music for 4 more idea. Thanks Ops.Tribalistic bigots. They re here again. They have to make anything and everything about their tribe. Make God help you people. |

hollandis: I will never marry a nigerian,so nothing can possibly go through my mindAre you not thesame ffucktard who said all nigerians are cursed and that u re leaving nairaland. What da ffucckk re u still doing here. U re a real Cheap attention seeker. Monkey |
Leopantro: My initial reaction is to condemn such an action but indirect sanctions have already started. The US has started reducing subsides of HIV and TB drugs and other health commodities to Nigeria. Such drugs are very expensive but Nigerians get it for free. Very soon we would have to start paying for those drugs and very very few can afford them.Nigeria depends on the US for a lot of things. That fact irritates me sometimes, but its the ugly truth. |
I just don't understand why this US perverts won't give this issue a rest. Why do they go out of their way to meddle in other country's affairs. Well, am gonna see how this movie will eventually play out. I ve got a front row view here. |
TEN US senators have written a letter to President Barack Obama asking him to impose economic sanctions against Nigeria in response to the government's hostile stance towards lesbians and gays. On January 7 this year, President Goodluck Jonathan signed Nigeria's Draconian bill Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act into law, making anyone convicted of being homosexual liable to 14 years in prison. Since the law came into effect, the police have swung into action arresting lesbians and gays across Nigeria, while homophobic vigilante groups have also stepped up attacks on suspected victims. Coming at a time when several other African nations are also clamping down severely on homosexuals, the US senators have asked President Obama to step in and halt the witch hunt. Those who signed the letter include Christopher Murphy, Tammy Baldwin, Martin Heinrich, Richard Blumenthal, Barbara Boxer, Al Franken, Kirsten Gillibrand, Edward Markey, Sherrod Brown and Mark Udall. They are seeking sanctions against Nigeria, over what they described as a growing trend of laws and proposed legislation targeting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) individuals in Africa. In their letter, the senators are seeking a review of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (Agoa), which allows for duty-free treatment of certain imports from Nigeria and other sub-Saharan African countries since 2000. In their letter, they stated: “We, therefore, ask that your administration review Nigeria and Uganda’s eligibility for Agoa’s trade preference and if it is determined that those countries are not making continual progress in meeting the statute’s requirements, that you take steps to revoke Agoa's eligibility to Nigeria and Uganda, in accordance with 19 USC 2466a(a)(3),” the senators stated. According to the senators, the enacted Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act by Nigeria in January and the enforcement of these laws would be a human rights abuse, in violation of the standards set forth in the Agoa. In Uganda, President Yoweri Museveni signed a law into effect on February 24 under which accused persons can be sent to prison for life for aggravated homosexuality. “These laws, combined with the growing public vitriol by government officials and the media, threaten to usher in an era of widespread oppression of the LGBT community in many African countries. We believe that the discriminatory anti-LGBT laws in those countries represent a clear violation of human rights and hope that the interagency process charged with Agoa’s annual review will make this recommendation. "We further ask that you not restore eligibility until these beneficiary countries have taken steps to eliminate harsh penalties for LGBT persons,” the senators added. zizman: I used to be this guy that believed it makes no sense crying for a movie cos I believe there are cameramen and other crew member behind the scene so I jux give this unreal painting to ma brain so I dnt get moved to the extend of crying...but yesterday night my defence failed me when I watched 'WE ARE FAMILY' an Hindi movie..I tried to give ma self that believe that it's unreal and cameramen and other crew are at their back but it still didn't worked, I fought the tears with all my might but I failed..same here. That indian movie forced tears outta my eyes. But the first was 'one tree hill' (the point were quentin or something died); titanic (the point where they where playing enya's version of 'my heart will go on' and dion's). Then fireproff; along with prison break( at the point when they were playing 'lay it down slow'). And then the almighty vampire diaries,(the tv show comes with a lot of theme songs that can drive you to tears each time you listen to em. How to save a life, give me strenght, ungodly hour, bloodstream, drop in the ocean, eternal flame, cosmic love etc.VD is just too wonderfull. If you look well at my case, u'll discover that its the combination of the scene and it's song that brings me to tears. Am in love with music. When it comes to films and movies, the whites surely knows there business. |
