Three final year students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) have been arrested and set to appear in court on Wednesday following reports of gunshot that occurred in Nelson Mandela hall of residence at the university’s mini campus, Ekenhuan, two weeks ago.

A student who identified himself as a member of the Man O’ War disclosed that after the raid by the Edo State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), five guns and some bullets were recovered from them after a thorough search of the hostel. He said: “They were arrested on May 30 after complaints were made and were brought back the next day to search their rooms were five guns and bullets were recovered. They are in Abuja now ready to appear in court on Wednesday.”

The student who were identified as Longe Emirix (400-level Fine and Applied Art), Umeh Anslem Oluwase (400-level Fine and Applied Art) and a Theater Art student, name unknown reportedly shot into the air in the hostel on May 29, which led to their arrest by policemen accompanied by UNIBEN security.

Students who were in panic revealed to The Guardian that prior to the incident, some students have been extorting money from them in the hostel.

A resident said: “We were told to pay N1,000 by some students. Although we reported to UNIBEN security, who later pasted a memo in the hostel disapproving any form of extortion, nothing else was done as the extortion continued. The arrested students have been a threat to our stay on campus while carrying out their nefarious activities unchecked, making our focus on academics nearly impossible.”

The Nkukula Magistrate Court in Lilongwe, Malawi on Monday, sentenced to 10 years imprisonment with hard labour Dickson Kamwendo, 28, for defiling a 10-year-old disabled girl at Area 49 in the capital.

Kamwendo was arrested on January 31 2019 after being caught defiling the standard two learner in one of the unfinished buildings.

Parents of the victim said they hired the convict in 2017 to be transporting the girl to and from school Kanengo Police deputy spokesperson, Salomy Zgambo Chibwana, said police prosecutor Madalitso Jere asked for stiff punishment.

“The parents trusted him with their child but he took advantage of her disability and defiled her,” Chibwana said.

In mitigation, Kamwendo pleaded with the court for mercy as he is a bread winner for his family.

However, First Grade Magistrate Cecilia Onsewa said the convict deserved stiff punishment to deter would-be offenders.

Kamwendo is from Mbemba Village, Traditional Authority Phambala, in Ntcheu District.

APC chieftains, Bola Tinubu was spotted in the pictures below posing with some PDP members in Lagos.

According to social media reports, the former governor of Lagos called them Atikukated Nigerians before proceeding to take pictures with them.

Earlier on, a video surfaced showing Tinubu allegedly throwing away an APC flag at the party’s presidential rally in Ogun State.

Responding to the video, Tinubu through his media aide said:

”If the issue of the flag has become the hotspot of the PDP campaign, then they are in serious trouble.

“During that portion of the Ogun rally, the National Chairman and others were looking for a party flag.

”I spotted one within my reach. I picked it up and attempted to toss it to the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole so that the Chairman can present it to the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

“If you want to fault me for anything in this matter, your critique can only be limited to the accuracy of my toss.
“Any attempt to enlarge the episode beyond this is fiction and mischief writ large, ” he said.

Six months after Osigwe Johnmark, a 24-year-old final year Biotechnology student of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State, was shot dead while returning from a test, his ex girlfriend has been arrested in connection with it.

The ex-girlfriend, identified as Chitere Okoronkwo, 20, was picked up on Monday, in Ama-wire Urrata, by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Imo state police Command.

Chitere has since confessed to the August 8th 2018 Assassination.

While confirming the news, the state Commissioner of Police, Dasuki Galadanchi, said: “When their relationship got sour and ended, the girl demanded compensation.

According to reports, the deceased after he was threatened multiple times before being assassinated, had paid the sum of N1.8 million for shop rent and also N2 million for interior decoration of the shop to the estranged girlfriend.

Not done with the threats, she demanded N3m, which the deceased gave through a lawyer. Before the money was finally paid to the lady, he was murdered inside his Mercedes SUV.

After his death, the lady fled to South Africa. Okoronkwo has confessed that she told a guy that she wanted the victim dead due to their misunderstanding.

An unidentified man and woman were earlier today found dead inside a car in Lagos state#, leading to confusion at Maryland area of the state.

The pair were found unconscious in the vehicle by a resident, and nothing seemed amiss; they looked like they were discussing. The shocked residents raised an alarm and notified the police.

Police officers who arrived the scene, evacuated the corpses of the dead victims as investigation into their deaths are underway.

Residents were gripped with fear over the incident as many kept wondering what must have led to their tragic and untimely deaths.

Senator representing Kogi West, in the National Assembly Dino Melaye has said that the autocratic reign of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello will soon come to an end in the State.

The embattled Senator who described the governor as another Pharaoh assured Kogites that the Egyptians they see today, they shall see them no more.

Melaye, while addressing newsmen in Lokoja on Friday, described the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Smart Adeyemi as his ‘political wife’.

He assured electorate in the state that their votes will count as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will frustrate all rigging plans in the forthcoming elections.

The embattled Senator was in Lokoja, the state capital, in continuation of his ‘Thank You’ tour of all political wards in Kogi West. He toured communities in Kogi/Koton Karfe local government area of the state on Thursday.

He told the cheering supporters at St. Luke Primary School Adankolo that his opponent, Smart Adeyemi is his good ‘customer’.

“The forthcoming Kogi West senate election is between me and my political wife, Smart Adeyemi. He is my wife. He is a good customer.

“I want to assure you all, by the grace of God, PDP candidates will emerge victorious in the forthcoming elections. Please, let us defend our votes, after voting don’t go home, stay and count your votes. After counting, stay for the announcement. They cannot intimidate us. The reign of King Pharaoh in Kogi state is coming to an end and these Egyptians you see today, you shall see no more. We are going to defeat them mercilessly,” he said.

He expressed confidence that President Muhammadu Buhari will lose the next presidential election.

Melaye said the large crowd of voters that graced each venue of the ‘thank you’ tour is an indication that the people are tired of the Federal and Kogi state governments.

“I feel very happy. The responses across Lokoja are positive. It shows that the people are not happy with the government. This is a referendum against the federal and Kogi state government.

“From the responses so far, it is obvious that the people are living in pervasive hunger. It shows that the non-payment of salaries and pensions have completely disconnected the people from government. It shows there is a lot of work to be done by us when we win elections. We will correct the anomalies.

“The people have decided and we will not allow our elections to be rigged. We have credible information that they sowing military and police uniforms. We will defend our votes, we will defend our votes and PDP will be victorious,” he added.

A prophetess has revealed why some rich men sleep with mad women, during an appearance on a Live radio program.

The seer identified as Prophetess Afeine, leader of Grace Divine healing Ministry in Ekumfi in the Central Region of Ghana, while narrating her ordeal on Adom FM’s Work and Happiness, said one man visited her church claiming he had a spiritual attack tried to sleep with a mad woman in his church.

“He came to my camp that he was retarded and wanted a spiritual deliverance, later we saw him trying to rape one of the women who came around for deliverance. It could have been for ritual purposes because he was sane and not a poor person,” she said.

She, however, added that, the man was arrested by the police for attempted rape.
