That's typical of FUEL PUMP FAILURE. It has dealt with me so much that I know when it's fuel pump.

Hmm...those were my first thoughts too so i bought a new fuel pump and in the process of installing the new pump, i discovered the old pump was working fine.

I suspect the air intake system but have not been able to do a compression test. Not sure though and have little time in a day to do a reasonable diagnosis...but can make out time to carry out a repair myself so long as it is fruitful. That's why i am here for assistance.

Some of you guys whose cars don't have check engine light on might have had it taken off by whoever sold the car to you.

Quick check, turn your key to position 1 (i.e. one step) you should see the check engine light appear for about 2 seconds, then disappear. If you don't see the check engine light... the bulb has been removed or covered.

Check engine light comes on when ignition is turned on and goes off when engine is running. There is no malfunction lights on...it does not bring up any fault code when i scan it.

Good day everyone!

I have a 2006 Hyundai Sonata V6 petrol engine and auto tranny. It died at a traffic light without prior notice and refused to start. Ignition will turn and when it starts, it will jerk a little and slowly die off.

Battery is good, it is almost half tank full and no engine malfunction light is on. I recently changed the fuel pump and top cylinder gasket about 2months before the incident. Any recommendations on what to do?
