How do we call the attention of the NUC and the Minister of Education to this wickedness?

This practice isn't limited to UNIBEN.
In almost every public institution, it is prevalent. The only difference being the price such bed spaces go for.

I got a message last night from a friend in Uniben telling me how she bought a bed space in Hall 2 for #50,000, a space that was given out by the school authorities for free and only requires around #10,000 for it maintenance fee and clearance.

It quite unfortunate that the problem of this country is far beyond it leaders, students exploiting fellow students, its so appalling.

No wonder Fela once said," Nigeria can never be compared to South Africa because over there it is white domination over blacks but here we have blacks dominating blacks".

This is so pathetic and really it has got me thinking, what about the poor student that need a bedspace but cant afford 1? He/she is left with no other option than to squat and even at that it takes a good Samaritan to squat that person and I think this is 1 of the major reasons why students venture into prostitution, to enable them raise enough money to buy space.

From all indications the way this is going am sure a time is coming when students will have to pay #100,000 for that same space if nothing is done. Last year, I was told a story of a student who sold her space for #45,000 and I almost stopped talking to her, it is so bad now that even students who stay off campus apply for space with the hope of getting it and selling it out.

The school authority has got to do something about this, this cannot continue. I think the senate should look into the matter and if possible pass a concerning this with appropriate sanctions ranging from suspension to rustication of perpetrators!
