As to food poisoning, reportedly large numbers of people die each year from food borne illnesses. As dissertationwriter claims, the idea that organics are safer is somewhat naive, though it is good to avoid pesticides in food (most foods apparently don't have much though berries may have more than others). I somewhat reluctantly agreed with my wife that we should only buy eggs produced without anti-biotics in the feed.

People should be more aware of salmonella. Usually grocery baggers know not to put raw meat near something that will be consumed without cooking, but sometimes I have to tell them that.

Consumers should be more aware of handling raw meat, eggs and poultry. The organic hype is in large part just hype - but people believe it - makes them feel better and earns big profits for Whole Foods (who are now facing substantial competition due to their excessive prices on some items - and who have low prices on some other items - labeled 360).

Public schools would be a good place to concentrate on education for young people and TV for older people.
