EventsAll Private Universities Speech Competition by stevearaba(op): 4:37pm On Mar 20, 2011
ALL PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES SPEECH COMPETITION

Education in Nigeria has fast become one measured by the number certificates an individual is able to acquire, but if certificates were truly proofs of education, shouldn’t it bring about change? For 50 long years, Nigeria has staggered to stoop in her affairs and it will be relative to say that she is failing at stooping.

If education does not expose one’s mind to cause change in his or her environment, then what is the use?
If in being educated, there is no interaction with worlds outside yours, then what development would there be?

It is a truth that Nigeria stoops, it is a truth that she is ridden with corruption, ills and societal decadence, but is that all that exists in Nigeria?

The theme for the first edition is “Is this the Nigeria I believe in?” holding at the Wilfred Riley Auditorium, Babcock Universityon the 31st of March, 2011

Universities that signed up for the year’s competition are:

Wesley University of Science and Technology
Babcock University
Covenant University
Bells University
Redeemer’s University Nigeria
University of Mkar
American University Nigeria

This will be a turf of words and intellectual tussle.

Everyone is invited, and no gate fees

Let’s see who wills, and who wins!

EducationAll Private Universities Speech Competition by stevearaba(op): 5:54am On Jan 20, 2011
There's going to be a Speech Competition between all Private Universities in the month of March, 2011. This is being put together by an organization called iBreathe, with support from various organizations that believe in the spirit of oratory and intellectual development in the country.

The purpose of the competition is to revitalize the lost art of oratory in
our Universities; to target the crucial questions on the minds of the
youths, and also provide healthy interaction between Universities, even as
a youth development endeavour.

This will help the youths become enlightened about possible ways
they can be involved in channeling the destiny of our nation, by direct
involvement in its building, as topics of speeches will revolve around
national issues.

It is starting with Private Universities, only as a Pilot
Competition, modalities are being arranged to make sure all Universities
in the country are accommodated.

I'd be interested to see which University wins, whether the famous Covenant University, pompous Babcock University, or the gentle Redeemer's University, It's a whole lot,
