Science/Technology / Mi 11 To Get Fix For Charging Issue With 65W Charger Soon, Xiaomi Executive Conf by stevesegpan: 10:53pm On Jan 04, 2021
Mi 11 was launched a few days ago and Xiaomi is shipping units without the charger this time around. Early adopters are therefore now buying separate chargers or using pre-purchased units for charging the Xiaomi Mi 11. A few early buyers are now reporting of an issue when they plug their Xiaomi Mi 11 to charge using a 65W GaN charger. Apparently, the phone goes into an automatic continuous reboot when plugged into the 65W GaN charger. Xiaomi has acknowledged the issue and says that a fix is around the corner.

Director of Xiaomi Mobile, Zhang Guoquan has taken to Weibo to announce that a fix for this 65W charging issue will be rolled out soon. He explained the issue saying that after a Xiaomi Mi 11 user connects to a specific 65W charger, the phone restarts. Xiaomi was able to find out the source of this issue, and the engineers have even released a patch to fix it. In its stress test, Xiaomi found no problems with the patch and it plans to release it for all users soon. There is no clarity on when this update will be rolled out though. This development was first spotted by GizmoChina.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 was launched in China recently, and its global launch is also teased to happen soon. Its price starts at CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs. 45,000), identical to the launch price of Mi 10. There is a standard version of the Mi 11 in China that doesn't come with an in-box charger, while its bundle version will include with a separate 55W GaN charger. Both versions are notably available at the same price.
Key specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 11 include Snapdragon 888 SoC, 6.81-inch 2K WQHD display, up to 12GB of RAM, triple rear camera setup that houses the 108-megapixel primary sensor, and a 4,600mAh battery that supports Mi TurboCharge 55W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Phones / Honor Brings Three Ryzen-powered Laptops, Two Android 10 Tablets To Global Marke by stevesegpan: 2:22pm On Sep 04, 2020
Honor used its IFA press conference to unveil two Android tablets and three Ryzen 4000-powered laptops to global audiences. One of them offers a Ryzen alternative to the Intel-powered version that launched earlier this year while the other two laptops upgrade from Ryzen 3000 chips to 4000.

Honor MagicBook Pro

An alternative to the Intel-powered MagicBook Pro that was announced in May, this laptop uses an AMD Ryzen 5 4600H APU instead of a 10th gen Intel. This chip has a 6 core, 12 thread CPU (3.0 GHz base clock, 4.0 GHz boost) along with a 6 core GPU running at 1.5 GHz.

You still get 16GB of dual channel DDR4 RAM and a 512GB NVMe SSD. There’s no external GPU this time as the Ryzen brings its own Vega graphics. Even so, the dual fan, dual heat pipe cooling system is retained to keep the 45W TDP APU chilly.

The aluminum chassis of the laptop weighs 1.7 kg (3.75 lbs), fairly light for a 16.1” laptop. The display boasts slender bezels (4.9mm on top and the sides) and 90% screen to body ratio. The panel has 1,920 x 1,080 px resolution, 100% sRGB coverage and 1,000:1 contrast ratio.

Battery capacity is the same as on the Intel version at 56Wh, and it delivers similar endurance too, 11 hours of video playback. Charging is done with a 65W USB-C adapter (160 g), which can fill the battery to 50% in half an hour.

The port selection includes an HDMI 2.0, USB-C, USB-A (3.2 Gen 1) and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The laptop also features a fingerprint reader and a pop-up camera hidden in the backit keyboard.

The Honor MagicBook Pro will be available from September 7 in Germany and September 8 in the UK and France. The price is set at €900, but early birds get a €100 discount.

Honor MagicBook 14 and 15

The MagicBook 14 and 15 are two light laptops powered by the AMD Ryzen 5 4500U. The 15W APU features a 6 core, 6 thread CPU (2.3 GHz base, 4.0 GHz boost) and a 6 core GPU (1.5 GHz). In both cases you get a choice between 8GB and 16GB DDDR4 RAM (dual channel) and 256GB and 512GB NVMe SSD. These models replace the Ryzen 3000-based laptops from last year.

The MagicBook 15 has a 15.6” display (87% StB ratio) while its smaller sibling is equipped with a 14” display (84% StB). Both panels have 1080p resolution.

The main body of the laptops is made of aluminum while the display bezel is mylar. The larger laptop weighs 1.53 kg (3.37 lbs), the other tips the scales at 1.38 kg (3.04 lbs). The odd battery situation from the predecessors is carried over to these models too – the 14” laptop has a larger 56Wh battery while the 15.6” laptop only gets a 42Wh power cell.

Charging is done via USB-C using a 65W adapter, which achieves 50% charge in about half an hour. Besides the USB-C port, there’s also one USB-A 3.0 and one USB-A 2.0, plus an HDMI port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

The new MagicBook 14 will be available in the UK, France and Germany from September 21. A unit specced with 8 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD will cost you €750. The launch promo for this model is one free accessory - you can pick a mouse, Honor Router 3, Honor Bluetooth Earphones or an Honor backpack.

If you prefer a slightly larger laptop, the MagicBook 15 will be out in early October and will cost a bit less - €700 for the same 8/512 GB memory configuration.

The old MagicBook 14 proved quite popular, by the way. It was one of the Top 3 best-selling laptops on Amazon DE, it was Top 5 on Boulanger in France and Top 10 on Amazon UK.

Honor Pad 6

The Honor Pad 6 is equipped with a 10.1” body with 1,920 x 1,200 px resolution (16:10). The body is made out of aluminum and measures 7.55 mm thick, weighing around 460 grams. There are two speakers backed by Huawei’s Histen 6.1 audio tech.

The brains of the operation is a Kirin 710 A chipset connected to 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB storage, there’s also a 4/64 GB configuration. The tablet runs Android 10.0 with Magic UI 3.1 out of the box.

The Honor Pad 6 will be available with LTE connectivity and as a Wi-Fi only version.

Honor Pad X6

Honor Pad X6 is the more affordable of the two, stepping down to a 9.7” display with 1,280 x 800 px resolution. However, the display is still encased in an aluminum body – exactly the same body, in fact.

The chipset is the same, Kirin 710A, however this time the only memory configuration available is 3/32 GB. Like the other model, the Pad X6 has a 2 MP camera on the front and a 5 MP cam on the back, plus the two speakers.
