Peter Obi, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has alleged that the Federal Government is making moves to stop him from contesting in the 2027 presidential election. According to him, there are clear signs that those in power do not want him on the ballot. He said the government is focused on blocking his chances across political platforms. The present government is bent on making sure I am not a candidate for any party,” he said.

It is very shameful for Nigeria that the new Electoral Laws assented to by the President excluded forgery as a crime,” Obi said.

The former Anambra State governor warned that weakening electoral laws could damage public trust. He said credible elections are key to national stability. He added that any law that appears to protect wrongdoing sends a wrong signal to Nigerians.

Obi further spoke on the current economic situation. He said the country is struggling under poor leadership decisions. According to him, Nigeria needs a shift towards competence and accountability. He stressed that governance should focus on production, not consumption.

However, he maintained that despite the challenges, he remains committed to offering himself for service. He said Nigerians deserve better leadership and a clear direction for growth.
