edo.girl:Are you suggesting that Lagos' economy is bigger than Nigerias economy?. Nigeria's economy is yet to evolve from total oil dependence and you are here talking about Lagos economy. Nigeria as a country is fcked up economically and if the oil gives way, the entire country will sink into massive depression.Tell me any viable industry that is well developed to stand on its own without oil money in Lagos state?. Is it agriculture, commerce, export, industries(with no power and resources), etc?. Where are the consumers of goods and services from Nigeria apart from Nigerians?. So if the oil money dries, how will the consumers be able to buy the goods and services from Lagos to sustain Lagos' economy?. The only thing Lagos exports that I know of is Nollywood movies and the whole state cannot survive on exporting art otherwise, tell me another thing your Nigeria and or Lagos exports to drive its economy beyond its shores?. |
Nigeria economy is dependent on Lagos and Lagos is dependent on Nigeria economy. Both cannot be separated. If Nigeria loses its oil revenue, Lagos will take the worst hit. AS a matter of fact, not only Lagos but neighboring countries like Benin republic, Ghana, Cameroun, etc. People amaze me: What is economy and what drives economy?. If people are not migrating and spending in Lagos from other parts of the country like they used to do before because they have no money to do so, how will Lagos economy survive? From aliens?. If there are no migrants ready to buy goods and services, how will the small and big business owners make profits and pay taxes to the Lagos government?. If a leader like Fashola can make this kind of gaffe, then we are doomed in Nigeria because it shows that he doesn't understand how economy works. |
CFCfan: Does this mean that the various Local and the Kano State govts are too broke to construct classrooms? Not only Kano, all the states in Nigeria cannot afford to build classrooms and still pay teachers. We are poor ,people. |
Friday, January 11, 2013 Japan gives 317 classrooms to Nigeria The Japanese government, working through the Japan International Cooperation Agency handed over 317 classrooms to the Federal Government of Nigeria yesterday Thursday January 10th. The classrooms were constructed in 33 primary schools across 22 local government areas of in Kano State. It is expected to be able to accommodate around 12,680 pupils and also included 308 toilet booths. Japanese ambassador to Nigeria Ryuichi Shoji, handed over the classrooms to Minister of state for Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, and said that the 2.31 billion Naira (US$14.8 million) spent on the project was an important investment, as education is an invaluable asset for children and a crucial factor in the economic development of a country. http://lindaikeji..com/2013/01/japan-gives-317-classrooms-to-nigeria.html |

redsun: What happened to the defence budget that caters for the army? Why is he funding the army with state resources? And when did the army become the police that guarantees state security?I wonder o. How can a state governor be funding a federal institution?. Very soon Gov Amaechi will buy warships for Nigerian military and may be Fashola will buy fighter jets and drones for our army. |

Woman's sex romp exposes workers' comp fraud Modupe Adunni Martin pleaded no contest to felony workers compensation fraud after being videotaped performing a sex act in a park that doctors said she shouldn't have been able to perform. SAN MATEO, Calif. — A sex romp at a public park helped prosecutors convict a California woman of faking an ankle injury to collect workers' compensation payments, authorities said. Modupe Adunni Martin, 29, was sentenced to nine months in jail on Thursday in San Mateo County after pleading no contest in October to felony workers compensation fraud. Martin was caught on videotape in August 2009 throwing her crutches into a car and running in high heels to meet her boyfriend at a public park, where she took part in a sex act that doctors concluded she couldn't have done with an injured ankle, District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said. She was arrested and charged with 10 counts of insurance fraud. "I guess love just helps one get over injuries," Wagstaffe said in a phone interview on Friday. Martin reported the injury in February 2009 while working as a janitor for the Sequoia Union High School District. Claiming the injury left her unable to walk, Martin made 10 visits to doctors over a three-month span. A co-worker suspected she was exaggerating and alerted the district, which advised investigators. Martin was taken into custody after sentencing. A call to her attorney, Emily Andrews, by The Associated Press was not immediately returned. Martin was also sentenced to 3 years of supervised probation and ordered to pay more than $79,000 in restitution. http://news.msn.com/us/womans-sex-romp-exposes-workers-comp-fraud |
