You're welcome. temiwealth20: |
While listening to Billie Eilish yesterday, a business idea popped into my head. The kind of idea that doesn't require much money to start. Most of us use ChatGPT for random things every day, but very few people use it to learn skills that can make them money. One skill I'm currently looking into is website creation. Think about it: Thousands of business owners need websites to showcase their products, attract customers, and build trust online. Yet many of them don't know how to create one themselves. With tools like ChatGPT, YouTube, and free online resources, anyone can start learning the basics today. My plan is simple: 1. Learn website creation step by step. 2. Build a few practice websites. 3. Gain experience. 4. Eventually offer the service to businesses and individuals. I'm still a beginner and learning myself, but from what I've seen, this is a skill that can be turned into a side hustle with time and consistency. What do you think? Any tips from people who build websites or earn from web design? 👇 Let's discuss. |
Glad I could be of help How long have you been using Nairaland temiwealth20: |
Lol, you're not wrong. Politics and crime threads seem to dominate the front page most times. Still, I've noticed there's an audience for useful content if you're consistent enough. dododawa1: |
A few months ago, I decided to start posting on Nairaland. My main goal was simple: I wanted to learn how to create content, share ideas, and hopefully find a way to make money online in the future. Like many beginners, I didn't know what to expect. I wasn't sure whether people would read my posts, ignore them, or even criticize them. After about two months of posting, here are the most important things I’ve learned. 1. Not Every Post Will Get Attention One of the first things I noticed is that attention on Nairaland is not equal. Some posts get very little views, while others can suddenly gain traction. At first, I thought every post would perform the same way. But I quickly realized that title, topic, and timing play a huge role. For example: • Some of my posts didn’t even reach 100 views • While others went into thousands of views This alone changed how I think about content. 2. People Prefer Real Experiences Over Theory This was one of my biggest lessons. When I shared my personal experience (like my Gojelly article), I noticed more engagement compared to normal advice posts. People don’t just want information — they want real stories. Things like: • what you tried • what worked • what failed • what you learned These perform better than general advice anyone can find online. 3. Criticism Is Normal (and Useful) Not everyone will agree with your posts. Some people will correct you, disagree, or even criticize your ideas. At first, it feels discouraging. But I’ve learned something important — not all criticism is bad. For example, someone pointed out that some of the skills in one of my posts looked repetitive. I didn’t fully agree, but I understood his perspective. It helped me think more clearly about how I present information. 4. Useful Content Always Wins Posts that perform well usually have one thing in common: They solve a problem. Whether it’s: • helping someone avoid mistakes • teaching something useful • or exposing something people should know Those types of posts naturally attract more attention. People always prefer content that gives value. 5. Consistency Matters More Than One Viral Post One good post is not enough. Building visibility takes time. Even when a post performs badly, it still teaches you something about your audience and what works. Every post is part of the learning process. 6. Timing Can Affect Performance I also noticed that timing matters. Depending on when you post, engagement can be very different because user activity changes throughout the day. Also, posting too frequently can make your content look rushed or spammy. It’s better to focus on quality and consistency instead of posting too often. 7. Engagement Is a Two-Way Thing If you want engagement, you can’t just post and disappear. You also need to: • read other people’s posts • comment • share opinions It helps you become part of the community, not just someone posting randomly. Final Thoughts When I started posting on Nairaland, my focus was mainly on making money online. But along the way, I realized I was also building skills like writing, communication, and understanding what people actually want to read. I still have a lot to learn, but the experience so far has been valuable. For anyone thinking about posting on Nairaland, my advice is simple: Start. Learn. Improve. Don’t quit early because of low views. Every experienced person online was once a beginner. What About You? If you’ve posted on Nairaland before, what was your biggest lesson? |
I wrote about my Gojelly experience. But in a summarised version, it where you do task and get paid for it If you want I can refer you to get started Ejuna80: |
That's a fair point. Some of the skills do overlap, but I separated them because they can be learned and monetized independently. For example, content writing and copywriting are both writing skills, but they serve different purposes and clients. thesolutions: |

Many students believe they need to graduate before they can start making serious money. The truth is that several students across Nigeria are already earning income while still in school. The key is not to chase every money-making opportunity you see online. Instead, focus on learning a valuable skill and improving it over time. Here are five skills that can help Nigerian students earn money before graduation. 1. Video Editing With the rise of TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, content creators are constantly looking for people who can edit videos. A student can learn basic video editing using free apps such as CapCut and gradually move to professional software. Once you become good, you can offer your services to creators, businesses, churches, and brands. 2. Graphic Design Graphic design remains one of the most profitable skills for students. Businesses need flyers, logos, banners, and social media posts almost every day. Learning the fundamentals of design can open doors to freelance jobs and long-term clients. Platforms like Canva make it easier for beginners to get started. 3. Content Writing Many websites, blogs, and businesses need articles and written content. If you enjoy writing and are willing to improve your grammar and research skills, content writing can become a source of income. The more experience you gain, the higher your earning potential. 4. Social Media Management Many small businesses know they need social media but do not have the time to manage their accounts. A student who understands Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X can help businesses create posts, respond to comments, and grow their online presence. This skill requires little capital to start and can be learned through practice. 5. Trading and Financial Markets Trading can be profitable, but it is important to approach it carefully. Many beginners rush in expecting quick profits and end up losing money. Before risking real funds, spend time learning the basics and practicing on a demo account. Focus on education and risk management rather than trying to get rich overnight. Final Thoughts The internet has created countless opportunities for students willing to learn. The challenge is that many people spend months searching for shortcuts instead of building skills. Choose one skill from this list, commit to learning it, and stay consistent. You may not become rich immediately, but you will be much closer to financial independence than someone who spends all day looking for quick money. Which of these skills interests you the most? Let us know in the comments. |

BUTTERMILKSUGAR:I agree. Education still has value, but many people were sold the idea that a degree alone guarantees success. That's the part I think is misleading |
What's The Biggest Money Lie Nigerians Still Believe? I'll go first: "Go to school, get a degree, and you'll automatically be successful." Education is important, but many people are discovering that a certificate alone doesn't guarantee financial success anymore. Skills, networking, and adaptability matter too. What's the biggest money lie you've heard or believed before? Drop your answer below 👇 Let's learn from each other's experiences. — StudentHustleHQ |

That's a solid habit. I won't lie, many people underestimate how powerful tracking expenses can be until they actually try it. Sometimes the small daily spending is what eats up the biggest part of our money. I'm still working on improving mine too. What's the biggest unnecessary expense you've discovered since you started tracking your spending? T0BY: |
Thanks for sharing. I agree especially with tracking expenses. Many people don't realize how much money they spend until they start writing everything down. Which of these three has helped you the most personally? T0BY: |

I was trying to boost likes for one of my guy when I stumbled across a platform called Famsup. Apparently, people are earning money there by doing small social media tasks like: • following accounts • liking posts • sharing content • referrals At first glance, the website actually looks clean and simple. Registration was easy, and I noticed there were already different categories of tasks available. But here is the thing… I have NOT withdrawn any money from it yet. So this is not me recommending it as a legit side hustle yet. I just decided to test it publicly so nobody wastes data or time blindly. One thing I have learned from these “task websites” is this: Some of them pay small at first and later crash. Some never pay at all. And some surprisingly turn out legit for side income. So before anybody starts inviting friends or investing serious time, I think it is smarter to test carefully first. My first impressions so far: • The site is easy to navigate • Tasks seem straightforward • It focuses heavily on social media engagement • I still need to test withdrawals properly If the platform eventually pays successfully, then maybe it can help students looking for small online income while learning bigger skills. But personally, I still believe task websites should only be temporary hustles — not your main plan. The real money online still comes from skills. I will keep testing Famsup and update this thread if I successfully withdraw. For now, has anybody here actually used Famsup before? Did you get paid or is it another waste of data? — StudentHustleHQ 👀 |
Most students don’t actually need motivation anymore… they need skills that people will pay for. |
1. Arm Yourself with a "High-Income" Weapon Hunger does not care about your university degree; the market only pays for *results*. Pick one digital skill that businesses are desperate for; like closing sales, AI video creation, or writing emails that sell. Master it until you are absolutely dangerous in the marketplace. 2. Starve Your Distractions Your 20s are for building, not for endless partying, arguing on the internet, or playing video games all night. While you are wasting hours on cheap dopamine, another young man is mastering his craft and stealing your future clients. Protect your time like it is pure gold. 3. Cut the Dead Weight from Your Circle If your four best friends only talk about entertainment, complaints, and betting, you are guaranteed to be the fifth broke person in that group. Surround yourself with killers; people who talk about scaling businesses, digital products, and investing. Your environment will dictate your bank account. 4. Master the Art of the "Close" You can have the most amazing idea in the world, but if you cannot convince a stranger to hand over their money, you will starve. Selling is not begging; it is confidently leading a client to a decision that helps them. If you know how to close, you will never be broke a single day in your life. 5. Build Your "Digital Real Estate" Stop scrolling on social media just to be a consumer. Become a creator. Every helpful video you post, every email sequence you write, and every digital product you launch is a tiny digital soldier working for you 24/7. Plant your flag online so opportunities chase you. 6. Stop Flexing for Strangers Do not use your first big paycheck to buy a shiny new phone or designer shoes just to impress people who do not even care about you. Reinvest that cash. Buy faster internet, upgrade your AI tools, or pay for a mentor. It is okay to look broke while you are secretly getting wealthy. 7. Choose Speed Over Perfection Stop waiting for the "perfect time" to start your business or pitch a client. The perfect time is a lie. Launch it messy, make mistakes, get rejected, and adjust your strategy on the run. Movement creates momentum, and action is the only cure for fear. A Nigerian student can spend over ₦200k on an iPhone… …but cannot spend one month learning a skill that could change their life. That is one of the biggest problems among many young people today. Some students are more focused on appearing successful online than actually building a future for themselves. Expensive phones, expensive clothes, expensive data subscriptions… …but no valuable skill. Many students spend 6–10 hours daily on TikTok, Instagram, gossip blogs, and random entertainment content, yet complain constantly about being broke. The painful truth is this: A smartphone is one of the most powerful money-making tools in the world right now. People are using phones to: • edit videos • run businesses • learn coding • create content • freelance online • make money from social media Yet many students only use theirs for entertainment and online validation. — StudentHustleHQ |
In today’s world, almost every student has a smartphone. Some have cheap phones, some have expensive ones, but the truth is this: A smartphone can either make you money or waste your future. Many Nigerian students complain daily about being broke, but at the same time, they spend hours scrolling through TikTok, Instagram, and gossip blogs without learning any useful skill. The painful truth is that most students are using powerful devices only for entertainment. The “Soft Life” Trap A lot of students are chasing a lifestyle they cannot afford. Designer clothes, expensive hangouts, betting, clubbing, and trying to impress people online. Social media has made many people feel pressured to “look rich” instead of actually becoming rich. Some students would rather spend their last ₦2,000 on data to watch random videos than use it to learn a skill that could change their life. Many Students Want Fast Money Another reason many students stay broke is because they are searching for shortcuts. The internet is filled with: • Fake investment platforms • Scam “earning apps” • Telegram fraud groups • Fake crypto mentors • Betting addiction Instead of learning something valuable, many people keep jumping from one “quick money” method to another. And most times, they end up losing money instead of making it. Your Smartphone Is More Powerful Than You Think That same phone you use for TikTok can also help you: • Learn graphic design • Start content creation • Learn video editing • Start affiliate marketing • Learn coding • Build a blog • Promote a business Some people are making real money online with only a smartphone and consistency. The difference is not the phone. The difference is how they use it. Discipline Is the Real Cheat Code Most students are not broke because opportunities don’t exist. They are broke because: • They procrastinate • They give up too early • They spend too much time consuming instead of creating Success online is not magic. You need patience, consistency, and discipline. Final Thoughts Being a student in Nigeria is hard. Things are expensive, and opportunities are limited. But if you already have a smartphone and internet access, you already have a tool many people are using to change their lives. In my next post I will be posting about the "Best AI Tools Students Can Use to Make Money in 2026" The question is: Will your phone make you money… or continue wasting your time? — StudentHustleHQ |

boomcity009:I’m still testing different apps personally 👀 Some pay small amounts, some waste time completely. Right now I prefer apps that: • don’t force payment first • have real withdrawal proof • allow small testing before referrals I’ll probably make a future post about the few that looked more legit from my experience so far 💰 |
Not every app that promises money is legit 👀 Some are just designed to waste your: • Time • Data • Energy …and sometimes even your money. So before I trust any money-making app now, these are the 5 red flags I personally check first 👇 1️⃣ No real payment proof If nobody can clearly explain how withdrawals work, I become careful immediately. Some apps show fake screenshots everywhere but no real user experience. 2️⃣ They force you to pay first If an app says: “Pay ₦5k before you can withdraw” 🚩 Huge red flag. A legit platform usually lets you test small things first. 3️⃣ Too-good-to-be-true earnings If an app claims: “Earn ₦50,000 daily just by clicking and chatting” …be careful 👀 Most real side hustle apps pay small amounts slowly. 4️⃣ No clear support or information Before testing any app, I check: • Website • Social media • User complaints • Reviews If everything looks hidden or confusing, I avoid it. 5️⃣ Pressure to refer people immediately If the first thing an app wants is: “Invite 20 people before withdrawal” 🚩 I become suspicious immediately. Real apps usually allow normal earning first before referrals. My honest advice 👇 Don’t let urgent need for money push you into risky apps. Always test slowly and do research first. Some apps may pay… …but many are designed to take advantage of desperate people. Have you ever been scammed by any online earning app before? Share your experience 👇 — StudentHustleHQ |
