You mean recharging airtime online? nicho450: |
You're probably wondering Who's this guy and what does he know about sales? Well, let me address the elephant in the room. I'm not a sales expert. But I know a lot on sales and have been using the internet for the sole purpose of adding value and creating an audience for years now. I see dumb mistakes most business owners make and always wished I could use my knowledge to help them. Dumb mistakes like: Selling a product/service using foreign models when you can use African models in designs Selling features instead of selling benefits Aggressively promoting their stuff without gathering and nurturing leads. Starting a business without proper branding The list is endless. But I've realised most small business owners are arrogant and stubborn. They believe what they're doing is correct and that is why they lose money to bigger brands doing things the right way. If you're not arrogant, comment what your business is and we'd start brainstorming right away. You have nothing to lose. Except the fact that you'd have someone by your side working endlessly to see you get more sales online for no cost. I will be picking just one person. |
What's the advice? Never invest in any thing if you don't understand how the return on investment (ROI) works As simple as that is, people keep ignoring. The result? Thousands and millions of naira lost to Ponzi schemes and any kind of fraud under the sun. So you don't make mistakes all over again, go and educate yourself on assets and how investments work. Some assets are as old as time and will always be good investments if you know what you're doing. Real estate is a good example. If you don't understand what you'd be dumping your money into, it will almost always end in tears. Wise up. Because scammers are getting wiser. |
Unfortunately, you'd learn this outside school most of the time. viyon02: |
You're absolutely right. Nowadays, people can without a degree live a very comfortable life if they know what they're doing. Time spent in school is time you cannot get back unfortunately. Don't think the school system will change. It is the job of every student to adjust. Col0gne: |
Schools are great. Chasing a degree is great, don't get me wrong. But let's address the elephant in the room. There's a bunch of stuff in the real world that schools won't teach. Primary. Secondary. Tertiary. Things like: How to make money How to network for success How to start a business and scale There's so much emphasis on passing exams and little on the bigger picture, life. This is why a lot of people graduate and still don't feel fulfilled. Let's not even talk about the unemployment rate. So. What do you think schools should teach, that is never talked about? |
Cool. I'd advise you stick to one. Content writing tends to focus more on value based write-ups. Usually for brands and industries that run a website or blog that they'd love their audience to visit more frequently. Creative writing is more in line with literature - short stories, poems, novels etc. Tony4988: |
If you're here, you definitely know about Canva. But you've had to deal with the problem of not using the design platform like the big boys do. You want to use a template and bam! You realise it's limited to PRO accounts. You can't even use some elements or pictures. The worst part? The best features on Canva are only on the PRO version. Genius marketing from their end, right? Some weeks ago, I could only use Canva on the free version. Until recently. I've been able to access all of its amazing features for about the price of a Shawarma, without having to spend all those dollars you'd see if you look up the price for Canva PRO The train is moving and there are thousands who were smart enough to listen and have paid chump change for lifetime access to Canva PRO. A very big steal in my opinion. I'm sharing this because I know someone will need it. If that's you, comment on this post |
I won't. I'm not the typical Nairalander that desperately tries to push a point. Cladez180: |
What aspect of writing Content writing? Copywriting? Creative writing? Tony4988: |
This should do. But you can do better with zero technical skills on Canva Ahmback: |
How'd you land this client? Ahmback: |
Here's a hyperlink that'd take you to a post I made on the categories of skills that are hot and heavily sought for by newbies and clients. https://www.nairaland.com/7086364/what-skill-currently-learning-fetch |
In 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown, I wasted a huge bunch of that time at home doing nothing. Since then, I told myself the only thing I'd be doing whenever I get a long break as a student will be to learn on-demand skills. Imagine a 19-year old can master a skill and out-earn your lecturer without having a degree or going to a tertiary institution. How? Skills. Skills gave massive value and they never get old. If you're affected by the current ASUU Strike, what skill do you see yourself learning? |
If you're a student currently affected by the ASUU strike, you owe it to yourself to learn a skill. The Nigerian government is not going to save you. The university you school in will not teach you how to make good legit money early. Instead? Your lecturers will tell you how they suffered to build a house or buy a car. And why you should relax and not chase money because you're still young. The same people that grew up in a time where the Nigerian economy was a lot better. So. What skills are out there that can fetch 50k monthly minimum? Several. Based on the wonders I've seen young smart responsible people do. I'd give you 3 hot industries you can tap into Sales & Marketing Tech Design Sales & Marketing This is obvious and the skills are endless. There's: Copywriting Affiliate Marketing Sales Funneling E-mail Marketing Leads Generation E-Commerce etc. Tech The new oil. There's bastard money in this industry that a 19-year old can become a double digit millionaire just by taking it seriously. There are several skills in this industry. They are: Data Science Data Analysis Programming Software Engineering Machine Learning etc Design Graphics Design alone in the past year was worth billions of dollars in revenue. The skills here include: Graphics Design Website Design UI/UX Design etc. Why isn't everybody rich then? People are lazy. They also don't want to pay to learn. The people who do the opposite - combining hard work and using every resource they have to learn get results. Dear student, What skill are you learning? |
Not my specialty. Ebubu3: |
I don't use Photoshop but I'm good with Canva. 100 naira airtime for a Photoshop design is sheer wickedness. Ebubu: |
