A paper published in Nature on the 25th reported a neural network with similar "human system generalization ability." System generalization ability refers to the ability to learn new concepts and combine them with existing concepts. The findings challenge a 35-year-old view that neural networks are not viable models of the human brain because they lack the ability to system generalize. The method used by the team could be used to develop artificial intelligence (AI) systems that behave more like humans.
