Yes, ₦1.2M can work for that setup, as long as the quote is for a complete installation and not just the parts.

If you can stretch to ₦1.4M–₦1.5M, put the extra into panels. On current Lagos prices, each extra 1kW of panels costs roughly ₦200k–₦300k, so that's about enough to go from 1kW to 2kW. That makes the biggest difference for running the freezer in the day and still filling the battery for the night.

Before you pay anyone, get a written quote that lists: the inverter (kVA, and that it's hybrid), the battery size in kWh, the number and wattage of the panels, and what installation includes (cables, breakers, surge protection). Then you can compare quotes like for like.

Switching the freezer off at 4pm helps a lot. The battery then only has to carry lights and fans at night, which is a small load, and the freezer runs during the day straight from the panels.

On our 2026 Lagos pricing, a small setup like that (about a 2kVA hybrid inverter, a 2.5kWh lithium battery and 1kW of panels) comes to roughly ₦1.2M to ₦1.9M installed. ₦1.2M can work, but only at the bottom of that range, so shop carefully and get every item and its rating in writing.

The weak spot is the panels. 1kW has to run the freezer through the day and refill the battery at the same time, and on cloudy days it will struggle. If you can stretch to about ₦1.8M to ₦2.8M, a 5kWh battery and 2kW of panels gives you much more breathing room. If not, start small with a hybrid inverter so you can add panels later.

One tip: keep the freezer full and closed overnight. A full chest freezer holds its cold much better than a half-empty one.

Good that you're planning around your appliances. A few things before you spend the ₦1.2M:

1. The freezer is the big one. It runs day and night, so most of your money should go into the battery, because that is what carries it through the night. Lights, fans and a blender are light by comparison. The blender just needs an inverter that can handle its short burst of power.

2. In Lagos right now, a complete installed system with a lithium battery and solar panels usually starts at about ₦1.8M. With ₦1.2M you may need to start smaller, for example the inverter and battery first, charging from NEPA, and add panels later. If you do that, make sure the inverter is a hybrid that can take panels, so you don't pay twice.

3. On the AC: running a 1 to 1.5HP AC in the daytime from panels can work, but running one at night needs a much bigger battery. A 2-bedroom home running one 1.5HP AC in the evening typically needs about a 5kVA system, around ₦3.9M to ₦5.8M installed. I wouldn't plan for an AC on ₦1.5M.
