The group — known as Gonjeshke Darande, or “Predatory Sparrow” — hacked the bank because they accused it of helping fund Iran's military, according to one of the messages posted online.

The hack comes amid increasing hostilities between Israel and Iran, after Israel attacked multiple military and nuclear targets in Iran last week. Both sides have launched multiple missile attacks against each other in the days since.

Reuters could not immediately verify the attack on Bank Sepah. The bank's website was offline on Tuesday and its London-based subsidiary, Bank Sepah International plc, did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment.

Gonjeshke Darande did not respond to multiple messages sent via social media.
“Disrupting the availability of this bank’s funds, or triggering a broader collapse of trust in Iranian banks, could have major impacts there,” Rob Joyce, the former top cybersecurity official at the NSA, said in a post on X.

In 2022, Gonjeshke Darande claimed responsibility for a cyberattack against an Iranian steel production facility. The sophisticated attack caused a large fire at the facility, resulting in tangible, offline damage. Such attacks are usually beyond the capabilities of activist hackers, security experts say, and would be more in line with the capabilities of a nation state.

The group has also been publicly linked by cybersecurity researchers to a 2021 cyberattack that caused widespread outages at gas stations across Iran.
Israel has never formally acknowledged that it is behind the group, although Israeli media has widely reported Gonjeshke Darande as “Israel-linked”.

A senior Israeli official said Sunday that a top Houthi military commander was wounded in an Israeli airstrike overnight in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, though the Israel Defense Forces said it was still unclear whether he had been killed.
Mohammed Abd al-Karim al-Ghamari, the Houthi chief of staff and a key figure in the Iran-backed rebel group, was the target of the strike, according to the official, who spoke to Ynet on condition of anonymity

A Yemeni security source told Ynet that al-Ghamari also heads the group’s missile program and had been meeting with others at a headquarters located in an upscale neighborhood of Sanaa when the strike occurred. The source said the Houthis deployed roadblocks in the area and ambulances were seen arriving at the scene. He added that al-Ghamari, who trained in Iran, was responsible for coordinating operations between Iranian forces and the Houthis.

“If confirmed, his death would be a serious blow to both Iran and the Houthis,” the source said.

However, Houthi official Amin al-Barai, deputy director of the group’s “moral guidance” department, denied that al-Ghamari had been injured or targeted. In a statement overnight, he accused Israel of fabricating the report to distract from recent Iranian attacks on strategic sites in Israel. He insisted al-Ghamari was “healthy and supervising the management of attacks against Israel.”
The Houthis, who control much of western Yemen and are aligned with Iran, have launched dozens of missiles and drones at Israel in recent months, claiming to support the Palestinians in Gaza. Iran has partially suspended gas production at the world's biggest gas field after an Israeli strike caused a fire there on Saturday, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported, in what would be the first Israeli strike on Iran's oil and gas sector.
Iran shares the South Pars gas field with Qatar. Striking it would mark a major escalation in the conflict, which had already pushed oil prices up 9% on Friday even though Israel spared Iran's oil and gas on the first day of its attacks.

The IDF confirmed on Sunday that its air force struck some 80 Iranian targets overnight, including the gas refineries at Bandar Abbas and the oil depot near Tehran. Since Thursday, Israel has attacked 170 targets in Iran, unlike the Iranian attacks targeting Israeli civilians

The IDF lifts its instruction to Israelis to remain near bomb shelters following the latest barrage of rockets from both Iran and Yemen.

Sirens sounded across most of the central Israel including Tel Aviv, Ashdod and parts of Jerusalem. A number of impacts were reported.

Meanwhile sirens are still sounding in area of the north amid a drone attack. It is not immediately clear where the drone originated.

I went early this morning to track a tenant who's been owing his rent for quite some time now and has been annoyingly elusive about it...no calls no reach out to me..not picking or returning calls and messages... As he narrate his ordeal finish I just made some noises and left but for my mind I no go just trouble this man again..let me not compound his already suicidal state... On my way out I gave his son preparing for school 1k.. furthermore in tbe same neighborhood I saw a child with badly deformed legs struggling to school.. I reduced speed and asked where her school was ...she pointed to the opposite direction...so I asked why she was going the opposite way,she said she was hurrying to her mom's shop to take money for breakfast n Keke.. I asked if I can gv her something..so I dont look like a ritualist or sth like that to her.. she hesitated,studied me and then convinced herself that I'm am alright man..she nodded shyly..so I gave her 3k to buy some snacks for the week.... I haven't stopped thinking about her since then..the way she wore her old stockings and hat very smartly and struggling with her circumstances... I'd made up my mind to do sth more for her..she won't be hard to find in that area
