You are using a factory unlocked iPhone 4, so you don't need to be afraid. You can also downgrade, your SHSH is already saved to Cydia.

What's d difference btw tethered and untethered?

Tethered require you to connect your phone to a computer and run some program to allow the phone to boot if the phone goes off but untethered jailbreak is not like that.

Yes but u can downgrade from 5.0 to 4.x ONLY IF u av saved the shsh of d 4.x wen it was allowed. Eg, if I decide to upgrade from 433 to 5.0 and d shsh of my 433 is saved, I can downgrade. If 5.1 comes out anytime and I'm on 5.0, once I upgrade to 5.1, I cant downgrade to 5.0 but I can still go back to 433. I'm sure d hackers will find a way.

i have good news for iphone4 gevey users. U can now upgrade to ios5.0 WHILE PRESERVING YOUR UNLOCKABLE BASEBAND using the tool called snowbreeze 2.8b3(I know some of u know dat already). I just upgraded a locked iphone 4(locked to vodafone uk) from 4.2.1 bb 3.10 to ios 5, bb 3.10, no jailbreak at all.
everything is working cos i activated with my universal sim configured with vodafone uk. facetime, imessage, push notication and of course full glo network. So u dont need to jailbreak to use your gevey/rebel.

UNFORTUNATELY FOR NOW, if u use dat software, u av a tethetered jailbreak which means anytime u switch off your iphone4 or battery goes flat, u av to connect to the system, run some programs to boot it up, after that u will now d the process of getting network back (double wahala).

thats y i warn people to wait till d full jailbreak is available before trying all dat. But if u cant wait, u can go ahead. BUT MAKE SURE your BASEBAND IS PRESERVED.

Tuma, that's is not 100% correct. It depends on the usher, you could preserve an iPhone 4 baseband without jailbreaking the phone if you use sn0wbreeze. See images below. You just need a valid sim to activate after the upgrade. Not everyone jailbreaks

Arkhin, you want the explanation in a layman language? Ok let me try.

You have to download a stock iOS 5 firmware, what I mean is you have to download the iOS 5 restore file from Apple then you need to use another tool call sn0wbreeze to prepare a custom firmware from the one you downloaded. It is the custom firmware you prepared with sn0wbreez[/b]e that you will use to upgrade your iPhone 4. It will [b]upgrade your iPhone 4's firmware to iOS 5 but will preserve as in will not ugrade your baseband at the same time. The custom firmware will not act like the main one you download from Apple that will[b] upgrade[/b] your firmware and as the same time[b] upgrade[/b] your basebase. That's mean if your baseband is say 04.10.01[b] before[/b] you upgrade the it[b] must[/b] be 04.10.01 after you upgrade.

Nerve great to hear that. Soon locked iPhone 4 will be so1d for 25-30k in Computer Village because most of the guyz working there don't even know they need to preserve baseband to get Gevey and ultrasn0w to work with iOS 5. Most don't also know about iFaith. One of them called me this morning telling me Apple have stopped signing 4.3.5, so he want to upgrade with stock iOS 5. I foresee many iPhone 4 serving just like an iPod Touch very soon. Apple and their wahala. I just hope new gevey comes out soon.

That's depends on you since you can't even wait. I will update because I have my SHSH saved I can always fall back on iOS 4.
