At the moment, We can unlock O2, Tmobile, and Orange Uk. Most blocked phone can be unlocked but it's risky. You may need to always check the unlock status whenever you need to update. With that, you are safe. Thanks

button Continue to hold down the Home button until a message appears in iTunes telling you an iPhone in recover mode

And hope your iPhone is factory unlocked? If you don't know, don't try to restore it yourself but if you must restore it yourself, do some little googling on how you can "preserve iPhone's baseband" or go back to previous pages to see how. If not, you might end up with "an expensive iTouch".

Who can Load an ios 5.x on an iphone with broken Home Button?

Well it possible since you can still use the phone normally, I think your problem is your Cydia apps are not working because you iPhone is in safe mode. Well good news is you can use still upgrade to 5.1.1 even with the broken home button. You need to use Redsn0w 0.9.14b2 to get your iPhone into DFU mode with Home button. This is what you need to do.

01. DownloadRedsn0w 0.9.14b2 (OS X) or Redsn0w 0.9.14b2 (Windows — run in Administrator Mode) 02. Download ipsw firmware file for your device. Choose a firmware file which
is currently signed. 03. Open Redsn0w. Goto Extras > Even More > DFU IPSW 04. Select the IPSW currently being signed (downloaded in step 2) 05. Redsn0w will create “ENTER_DFU_” version of the ipsw file 06. Open iTunes and press alt/option and click restore 07. Browse for the IPSW file created in step 5 and let it restore 08. You will get error in iTunes. This is normal 09. iPhone screen would be completely black, indicating that you have
successfully entered DFU mode without Home or Power Button.
