Job Title: Optical Glazing Technician

Location: No Edinburgh Rd, Ogui Rd New Layout, Enugu
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Optical Glazing Technician to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for cutting, fitting, and mounting lenses into eyeglass frames according to prescriptions and customer specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

Read and interpret optical prescriptions and work orders.
Measure and mark lenses for cutting according to frame specifications.
Cut and edge lenses using specialized optical equipment.
Fit and mount lenses into various types of eyeglass frames.
Verify the accuracy of finished eyeglasses using lensometers and other testing equipment.
Perform quality control checks to ensure prescriptions are filled correctly.
Adjust and repair eyeglass frames as needed.
Maintain and calibrate optical equipment.
Keep accurate records of work performed.
Adhere to safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.

Knowledge and Skills:

Certification from a recognized optical association.
Experience with high-index lenses and specialty coatings.
Familiarity with computerized lens edging systems.
Knowledge of international standards for ophthalmic lenses.

Qualification / Experience:

Secondary school certificate or equivalent.
Completion of an optical technician training program or equivalent experience.
1-2 years of experience as an Optical Glazing Technician.
Knowledge of lens materials, coatings, and frame types.
Proficiency in using optical laboratory equipment.
Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
Basic math skills for calculating measurements and adjustments.
Excellent problem-solving abilities.
Good communication skills in English and local languages as required.
May require standing for extended periods.
Close visual work and attention to detail required.
