I'm just here to rant today and I'm inviting everyone to come pour out their minds also.

I just want to ask if is a crime to be a Nigerian. As I grow older in this country and come across many things, I am increasingly regretting being a Nigerian. The country is just a failure on so many levels. It's such a disgrace for such a big nation to be sidelined or taken unseriously by the international community.

Below are just a few things I have come across that continues to make me regret being in this country.


1. International payment

A few years ago, I tried to build a career in writing and came across some employers but most only pay through paypal and this stiffled my chances. I had to look for other ways around this issue that makes me lose my hard earned money every month. Till now, Nigerian Paypal does not work to receive money from other countries like US and Canada. Most of our bank cards do not even work for international payment and people are often left frustrated. It almost feel like a curse being a Nigerian at this point.


2. Currency

We can all agree that the Nigerian currency is one of the most useless in the world. Obviously, currencies around the world lose value over time because of inflation but ours happen too fast. Imagine the naira losing more than 100% of its value in just a year. This has eroded the purchasing power of many struggling Nigerians. Nowadays, saving in Naira is not very appealing. In fact, it is increasingly becoming foolish to save in Naira.


3. Investment

Investment wise, Nigeria is a joke. As big as this country is, we are being denied access to many investment platforms around the world. For weeks now, I have been looking for a good platform to invest in international stocks but have been told that their services are not offered in Nigeria. Meanwhile, Bamboo, Trove, and other little ones in Nigeria are constantly being bullied by the government, thereby instilling doubts in the minds of Nigerian investors. Additionally, it's so unappealing to invest in Nigerian stocks because the gains will be eaten up by inflation.


Recently, Binance got banned and now cryptocurrency investors are constantly looking at their backs because of uncertainty. We don't even know where the government stands on the crypto matter. On one hand, they say it is not illegal, on the other hand, they have told banks not to facilitate crypto transactions. Confusion and inconsistency everywhere. Why why why?


4. Sports.

In terms of sports, the global community has probably classified Nigeria as big for nothing. Imagine this big country won nothing, not even zinc (if there's anything like that) in the recent Olympics. Tiny countries were busy winning gold, silver, bronze, and we won absolutely nothing. It's such a disgrace. I was furious watching the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics. The only thing they know how to do is to wear fine clothes. You could see athletes from other countries that won wearing just shirts but the loser Nigerian team wore native attire looking so incompetent. It just felt like they went on an excursion in Paris.


5. Tourism

Nigeria is suppose to be a great place for tourism because we have so many cultures but the industry is just dying because of insecurity and unfavorable government policies. Imagine, one cannot travel between states now without the fear of being involved in a kidnapping/armed robbery operation. Even transport to travel now has become so expensive that people think twice before thinking of taking vacations.



Across all sectors of Nigeria, failure has become the order of the day. Nothing seems to be working right in this country. Is it a crime to be a Nigerian for God's sake? Everyday, I get ashamed of being associated with this country. We are big for nothing. The only thing we know how to do is make music and give birth.


All of us Nigerians including our leaders need to seriously step up and think of how to restore our National pride. To our leaders especially, no matter what, as long as you were born here, you are still Nigerian so if you leave the country to rot, you and your generation will carry the stigma of failure everywhere you go. If you like send your children abroad or to Mars. The failures of their place of origin will still smell around them.


I have always been a fan of staying in Nigeria to make it work for me and my family because I don't want to go to another man's land where I'll not feel at home. But everyday, the failures of this conception called Nigeria makes me lose faith for the country. These sort of doubts are what lead to civil wars and secessionist agitations. As more radical and powerful people become involved in politics, if things do not change, Nigeria will be riding hard to total collapse.

I just started this few days ago and have already been burned multiple times because of leverage. Even the lowest leverage is too high for me. I am used to spot trading in crypto and have avoided leverage trading because of my inexperience.

I am making my own research but just want to ask here too. Does Forex allow trading without leverage like in crypto spot trading? Like can't I just buy an asset and wait for it to appreciate rather than panicking that it might hit stop loss. Forgive my naivety. Alexas58 help.

Such a terrible feeling for other coins to be pumping and the one you are holding just stays stagnant. The last time I had this kind of irritating feeling was when my neighbors had nepa light and I didn't.
