You are most welcome. Yeah i do understand packaging materials becos i did studied polymer eng and production at graduate level and PhD with extensive knowledge of biomaterials, medicinal chem, polymer. PP/PET is cheap, so most people used that and has low oxygen barrier and moisture protection over wearable distance. For quality package and utmost feeling BOPP/PET will be the best bet....i dont know if its available in Nigeria. PET is just a common plastic while PET (a polyester) provides the stiffness to PP. Where i reside and those that we have researched for companies are the type of package i attached above, which is EVOH/PP or BOPP/PET (multiple layer of sheets with significantly enhanced gas and moister protection over wearable distance).

BOPP/PET will have higher Design Hazard and Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) grading over PP/PET.

I do wish you good luck once more and fruitful business growth...!!!
PHD polymer. Need to learn a lot from you. But I appreciate the fact that my PP/PET can still be used.

If you are in naija I would have sent real life sample to you so you could vet the packaging for me. All in all, thanks

In addition to all the observations made. I think you should just make the gari more visible in the park. And let the font of Garri be bigger. In fact write ijebu garri and make it big and easy to read. you might want to change the name of your product too to something more easy to remember. also make it more readable as they said. you can still use the nylon quality you have now for the local market, suspending further investment till when you start making money from the product. Test it locally first, make some money then improve the packaging before u tke it to Yankee market.
Thanks and God bless you

Hi,

I am more concerned about the bold parts of your statements. If i must tell you the truth as a factory owner, importer and somebody living abroad..your package is very poor and if you export this abroad with that package, you wont meet the registration standard and will not sell. In some of my products, i spend fortune to ensure the package stand out and, that attracted/attracting lot of customers. Your brand name maybe good but the font, colors, quality of packaging material used are low and quite local.

I have attached one for you now, i took the picture from the supermarket to show you a simple and quality package. The company that package this package beans, semolina, cassava flour in stand and quality packages as well. I do hope this will help you to improve in your packaging and branding. If i have time, i can take pics of more types of rice here and upload for you. These sell well within Europe. Good luck
Thanks for the observation. But one thing you missed is about the quality of the package. This is just a picture online, you have not felt the texture and feel the properties of the package. If you understand packaging material properties, it's a PP/PET65 laminated.
I understand the simplicity packaging you said, will look into that for final production.
Thanks once again
HealthRe: Effects Of Taking Too Much Garri On Sight by surgecom(m): 11:19pm On Nov 21, 2014
Thank God you said "not well processed".

Well processed garri does not have any side effect as you mentioned.
If you want your garri to have more vitamins, add milk and eat with other vitamin enriched supplements.

apart from branding and marketing, also note that at the end, what people are really interested about, is the content. so you have to do great study on improving the content above the level of the normal garri, that's the processing aspect.
add something extra that is the reason while tummy-tummy stands where Indomie is standing. meanwhile many noodles have come and gone, even chikki is quietly going. only one thing is saving Dangote's noodle brand.
Thanks. As I said earlier, it's well processed and refined Ijebu garri. I wish nairaland has a store market where I can put one sample for people to taste. No sand. 0.1% impurities and very affordable

samseen02:
Good one op, but i think u should do something abt d brand name. Adjust it to something that will be easily remembered by an ordinary buyer, u knw u are very new to d market. U may change it to a name relatively known by the consumers. Don't be surprised when u see a schnapp named dorrobucci... Lol. The brand doesn't need any advert again coz sum1 has already done dat. I'm nt saying u should name it after a popular slang/name bt sumtin dat will be easily remembered. And u also work on d font size/design of ur package. I lyk pple like ur type coz u keep on motivating my work
Got that. But I think we can also nurture and market our product so that the name will stick to everyone's brain. The name "indomie" was not well known by everyone, but with rigorous TV and other media means of advertising, the name is now household name.
This products especially the garri is billed for export and the name needs to be more internationally understood, Hence, the need to use this kind of name.
All in all, thanks for your observation.

Lesgupnigeria:
The important things you need to focus on are the potential customers to serve and the competitors already in the market with the same products.

Although, packaging is part of it but not so.important.

If your packaging is the best in the world and you fail to put the customers that will convert all your efforts into.money for you, then you fail.

I believe you can change your packaging (brand) according to what the market (your customer and competitors) dictate to you.
Nice one.
The packaging is great
Whats the kilogram of the packaged garri?

Reduce your price but not at the rate you are going to make loss but to attract customers as the new entrant in the market.

Proper market strategy

How are you different from other packaged garri products in the market?

Why would i want to buy your products when i can get the same quantity at a cheaper price in the market?

If you can answer those questions and make use of other suggestions, then you are on your way to.break the market.

Goodluck.
Thanks for ur suggestions bro,
the garri is 900g/ rice is 1kg.
The quality of the package and what is packaged are the main differences between we and the existing competitors.
We did the package mainly for exporting. That means we are interested and particular about standard and quality.

More suggestions pleaseeeee

This is fantastic bro. God Almighty bless your hustle. This will sell majorly in all this local super-markets, mini markets and shopping malls. It's like measurement garri without a cup grin. Reminds me of back then in school. cool Please, don't be quick to delve into the the big market untill the supply is steady and most importantly, invest in quality. People don't really mind the price as much as they mind the quality of the product. Make sure the product quality remains standard.
Goodluck bro

Great job. I'm personally glad to see things like this coming out of Nigeria. It will be too bad if we start importing things like garri in the name of good packaging.

Please, just work on the business aspect of this project and make it sustainable.

And how does this affect the price of GARRI in the market? undecided
This is a well refined garri Ijebu to the core. Good for drinking and superb for the eba( you can't find any koko inside your eba).
We are working on the cost for it to be very affordable (N150.00) for now.
Denn:
Most important focus should be on marketing.
Remember classic garri has been selling for over 200 years without NAFDAC... Lol
You need to identify your market and ensure you can create a market that pulls the product rather than you pushing.
As regards branding, my observations.
The brand name should be readable once the product is displayed without the buyer bending his head to the left.
Check out milo, dangote spaghetti, ariel etc.
Fonts should be clear and concise except name is already established.... You are new and would want customers to remember your brand name...
The weight... Located at the flat bottom of the packaging and in small fonts. Needs adjustment

its a very nice idea. At least one can buy purified garri without seeing all those displeasing things in there. Like fiftynaira said, i hope it wouldn't increase the price of garri smiley.
