The fact remains that you know nothing about the two professions...

That's the fact boss. He doesn't know and is not willing to learn either. Kudos you have really done a great job in enlightening. Let him remain in hist denial and ignorance if he chooses. He can not make anyone who knows what dentistry is all about feel inferior. Let him be counting his points while those he said are not doctors (to him) keep counting their cash. Proudly a doctor and a dental surgeon to be. Peace

Another well cooked up perversion of truth.
Dentists are not medical Doctors. Doing some courses with medical students does not equate them to medical doctors.

Anatomy and physiology curriculum for the first 3years is same with Medicine but does not make them half Medical Doctors.

Dentistry is not a specialty in Medicine, all MBBS holders are capable to aspiring to all the specialty in Medicine. Rather Dentistry is a separate course with its own specialty.

A Dentist is not licensed to diagnose and treat general medical problems, and his license and indemnity does not cover this in anyway.

Scoring more than Doctors in Anatomy, physiology, biochemistry etc does not make a dentist a doctor. I am sure some Anatomy students of given the same Anatomy MB exams would score better than the borderline Medical student.

Board exams means USLME, AMC, PLAB, etc, and Dentist are not qualified for this because they are note medical doctors, but Dentists/Dental Doctors or surgeons with a different and unique pathway.

Dentist are not better in anyway to Medical Doctors, and these kind of phrases are only borne out of a feeling of inferiority. No man, no matter his profession is superior or better than another. All men must know their path, and stay their course, without infringing on the path of another, like the above Dentists daily thrive to do.

All of us must be rich if we persevere, and to every man there is a finish line, good or bad.

Safe

Bro despite all the enlightenment, points and proves the likes of senior colleague @maid007 have given you. You still chose to argue blindly. I don't think there is anything anyone could tell you that are more elaborate than what he has being hammering on. It simply because you are not a medical student. Ask from a medical doctor. It should even be MBDS that's the fact. Only medical student s (MBBS/BDS) can relate.

To clear your ignorance its not just anatomy and physiology or biochem that BDS student offer MB is taken in 300level for your information its a board exam. Its taken by all medical students. BDS students write 3 MB exams. This 3MB's are not different from what MBBS students write they are both drilled and marked equally. In addition, BDS students write 3 more BDS exams making it 6 professional exams. 3MB 3BDS . making dentistry technicaly harder in some ways than medicine though they are equally tough.
MBBS student write just 4 MB's 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th. BDS write 2nd MB 3rd MB 4th MB , 3rd BDS 4thBDS 5th BDS.
This is a breakdown of dentistry curriculum,

100L. Prelim studies (zoology chemistry, physics, and GES

200L-300L part A. preclinical ( anatomy, biochemistry, physiology)

300L part B - 500L part A ( medicine, surgery, radiology, paediatrics, pathology, pharmacology, then special posting)

500L part B ( basic pros and cons, north, oral medicine, oral pathology, child oral health)

600L ( community dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery, advanced cons advanced pros , periodontology.)

This is to clear your ignorance, dentistry actually is medicine + dentistry.
They are doctors of oral health hence are medical professionals that specialize on the head and oral region. They are not just doctors but surgeons. Can you tell me that because a medical doctor specialized in paediatrics (child health) he is no longer a doctor or because he specialized in orthodontic he is no longer a doctor? He is both a doctor and a surgeon. He is a doctor and works in the hospital what type of doctor is he then? He is still treating humans not animals. That's what all heath professionals do.
Dentist are doctors I repeat. Doctors of oral health. Reason why BDS seems to appear higher than MBBS is because after BDS is direct to recidency unlike MBBS were you have to go further before specialization. In fact it is even hard these days to get recidency in MBBS compared with dentistry and you still both ern same salary. If you are very skilled in dentistry you are likely going to be super reach. You don't work Saturdays and Sundays but still get paid with same salary with someone that do both morning and night shift. While you work 8 to 5pm. Then why should I feel interior?

Go to govy hospitals and see how many patients are lined up in the dental ward. The fact that you don't have dental issues doesn't mean others don't you only speak for yourself. In country were they take oral health serious, they do check ups regularly.

Dentistry is a branch of medicine to prove you wrong it is not a different course

Oral and maxillofacial surgery a specialty of dentistry requires either MBBS or a BDS degree go and check it up. If it was not a specialty under medicine can MBBS specialized in ithuh
The first face transplant was done by an oral and maxillofacial surgery that's advanced dentistry. Most nose reconstruction, face liposuction ear jaw and neck surgery are all done by maxillofacial aurgeons . dentistry is not just teeth man. Learn and stop argument with medics you are not even in the field. Go to accident and emergency words and see how oral and maxillofacial surgeons treat trauma cases, cut tongues and facial injuries. What about facial cancer like ameloblastoma? Most people can't even afford these surgery. What about wide cleft and lip surgery that are sometimes can only be sponsored by NGO?

A whole lot of ignorance here. Its worrisome that at this age and in this century some people still prefare to be ignorant. Dentistry is a specialty in medicine and hence dentist are doctors (doctors of oral health). If you are mentioning specialty in medicine you cant do without mentioning dentistry. dentistry is not just about the teeth but the whole body with the head and mouth region in emphasis. Dental surgeons are doctors but not all doctors are dental sirgeons. Asides dentist physicians, which other health professionals can call themselves Doctors or carry the traditional name doctors in relation to health? Dental students take same courses with medical students including medicine and surgery with additional head and oral biology / anatomy till 500L part B were dental students spend the rest 1.5 years on specialisation in dentistry. Dentist can diagnose diseases just as a general physician but because they specialized they focus more on prescription of diseases of the Head and oral cavity . fact that they are specialized doesn't mqake them lesser but higher, few and highly sort for. If cardiology was to be caved out as a niche on its own you don't expect medical school to admit up to even 20 cardiology students same apllies to dentistry. It is a whole branch of medicine on its own and hence are few. Dental students come top in most MB exams beating their counterpart in MBBs. MB exams are professional board exams. In most university were you have dental students go and check the records.
