Yesterday we had the maiden edition of our Lets Talk Agric show with our guest Mr Akintaro Olusegun the CEO of Akintaro Farms and Global Services,anchored by SISI TEJU. The espisode talk about layer farming. Layer Farming is the type of farming that deals with commercial eggs which including buying of a day old and rearing to the laying stage.

Moreso, he shed more light on different types of birds which are pullet and cockerel, pullet are birds that lays for human consume and they are brown in color. He said there is no business that does not have it own challenges, the major challenges in layer farming is Finance and Disease breakout, he also made mention of the recent increase in price of egg, which is caused by high cost of feeds given to birds.

Also he talked about the necessary things to be available when going into layer farming like having a layer pen, buying necessary equipment for feeding, provision of brooder that serves has heat source for a day old and amenities like good water, well ventilated pen, making sure chicks are well fed and good vaccination with the help of a veterinary. When it comes to fabrication and construction of cages we are the best and always available to render topnotch services. At survival poultry farm services we construct two types of cages which are the LAYER and BROILER/BROODING CAGE. Under the Layer cage we have Regular and Premium. Regular layer cage has nipple cup, decompression tank and pipe feeder(4inches) of 3 tiers and 4 tiers which has the capacity of 96 birds and 128 birds respectively. The premium on the other hand has the features of Pvc feeder, nipple with cup and decompression tank also 3 tiers and 4 tiers with 96 and 128 birds capacity respectively. The difference between the premium and regular is the feeding mode, one has pvc feeder and the other pipe feeder.
The broiler/brooding cage also consist of two types which are the H-TYPE BROILER CAGE and A-TYPE BROILER CAGE, The major difference here is the shape of each cage, depending on the client request. They have the capacity of 250 chicks (a day old) and 128 chicks (4-6 weeks). Features of broiler cages include Pvc flexible hose i.e it is used to supply water from decompression tank to the nipple cup, litter tray where birds do all their droppings, chick feeder supply feeds for a day old, decompression tank where water is stored and also nipple with cup which supply water to birds. All cages are pan, pvc feeder, galvanized door and decompression tank made from a durable and imported material like galvanized mesh, galvanized hanger, flexible hose, pipe adjuster rope, aluminum litter. Taking biosecurity measures on our birds has been the most important thing we always put in place while brooding. These birds has gotten to stage called POINT OF CAGE. We are transferring the birds to the cage to give them that cage reared treatment they deserved�
