Foreign Affairs › Re: Ukraine Will Soon Be A Landlocked Country by Svlla: 7:31am On Mar 27, 2022 |
It's simple First there are about 10million displaced Ukrainians mostly ethnic Ukrainians have left the Eastern regions giving the ethnic Russians number superiority in these areas. Before the war, Ukraine has ethnic Russians as 20% of its population and are mostly based in the east of Ukraine In Politics, Easter Ukraine has always had Russian leaning that's why after euromaidan revolution in 2014 the east tried to breakaway because the ousted president was from the east. What this war has done is cement the east pro Russian solidarity and leaning Importantly to note is the creation of 2 states in the east of Ukraine which will have it's own defence capabilities, civil administration and clear cut border with the rest of Ukraine. So the occupied territories will be occupied by Pro Russian Russians and Ukrainians with all their defence apparatus in place, their government and their people only difference is they will no longer be Ukrainians but a new state gidgiddy: Its one thing to win a war, its another to retain control. There are 45 million Ukrainians and just 150,000 Russian Soldiers in Ukraine. How is Russia ever hoing to control 45 million Ukrainians with 150,000 Soldiers? Every Ukrainian adult male is a potential Soldier.
This is a war Russia cannot win. At best, Russia will take some territory and be fighting to control that territory for years to come as Ukraine backed by west keep fighting |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Ukraine Will Soon Be A Landlocked Country by Svlla: 7:22am On Mar 27, 2022 |
How will those lands return to Ukraine, unless Russia decides to return them, after cessation of hostilities, truce agreement and maybe a peace pact there's less than 1% chance Ukraine is gaining any territory back. If Ukraine knows what is good for Ukraine then it must fortify Odessa, even more than Kiev, and make peace before Russian forces take Odessa. If they lose Odessa then Ukraine is landlocked and Transnistria gains a landlink to Russian held areas....that's going to be a big problem for both Ukraine and Moldova My guy forget about the occupied territories, or any territory Ukraine manage to reclaim behind enemy lines before a peace agreement is reached because they won't be able to maintain an exclave/enclave in pro Russian held territories donttouchme: More like an after thought. D initial objectives of Russian invasion is to bully them into --
1. Regime change(de-nazification). 2. Recognizing Crimea as part of Russia. 3. Recognizing d independence of donbas and donesk. 4. Not joining NATO and EU( maintain neutrality) 5. Imposing a pro-russian president.
As it stands, Russia has lost their fear factor.
They have given Ukraine a wake-up call. And all this regions they are occupying will one day return to ukraine. Putin will not live forever. One day Ukraine will come calling.
Those regions are still part of Ukraine and no country will recognize them.
Infact, mutiny among russian soldiers and Ukraine stiff resistance were the reason they pull back.
Finally, Russia has succeeded in creating enemies everywhere. None of neighbours will ever trust them. It will take a while before they can bounce. |

[s]By Stijn Mitzer in collaboration with Joost Oliemans Kemal, Dan and Jakub Janovsky A detailed list of destroyed and captured vehicles and equipment of both sides can be seen below. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available. This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, munitions, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment (including aircraft) are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. ATGMs and MANPADS are included in the list but not included in the ultimate count. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. (Click on the numbers to get a picture of each individual captured or destroyed vehicle)

RUSSIAN HAS UPDATED ITS DEATH TOLL IN THE UKRAINE CONFLICT
Russia’s army has updated its troop death toll, saying 1,351 soldiers have been killed and 3,825 others wounded since the start of its offensive in Ukraine.
The new toll, announced at a Moscow briefing delivered by senior military officials, came several weeks after Moscow gave its first assessment of losses in the conflict on March 2.
At the time, Russia put the number of its forces killed at 498.
Kyiv says more than 16,000 Russian troops have been killed, while NATO officials have told Al Jazeera they believe the death toll on the Russian side is between 7,000-15,000 personnel.

Foreign Affairs › Re: Biden To Announce Major Plan To Redirect Liquefied Natural Gas To Europe by Svlla: 6:27am On Mar 25, 2022 |
Let me put it down for you in simple arithmetic Europe consumes 140BCM of gas (140,000mcm) every year directly from Russia which is 45% of Europe imports from Russia USA total gas export in the world as at 2021 is 149BCM of gas which is mostly going to China, S Korea, Japan(accounting for almost 40% of US gas) For US to fill the boots of Russia means 140BCM of their 149BCM of gas export will be going to EU (over 93% of US total export) If EU cuts Russian gas they will need urgent replacement worth of 140BCM can US fill that up? Japan, S Korea and China pay alot for US gas (expensive gas) and is US willing to lose that money for EU and is US willing to make EU over 90% of its gas export destination? Note; US gas is used for politics too. To get Russia gas for Europe is easy and cheap If EU cuts Russia gas and gets from US it means that someone(China, S Korea, Japan) somewhere is not getting their gas and they will easily switch to Russia who is more closer to them and has cheap gas. Geopolitics! And EU will still have an energy crisis due to insufficient supply and cost and price of gas globally will increase too Frankiss44: So they can't fill the gap but Biden just went to Poland and summnonned their leaders to tell them bullshiiit right? |
