Well, the case should be seen to a logical conclusion to have any merit.

However, my observation is that Tinubu comes across as capitalist. By this I mean, the creation of more wealth for the state, but in return, a percentage for raising the bar far higher than ever recorded or imagined.

For an entity or business enterprise that did not earn more than X, but now earns X+Y, a percentage that is just a little fraction of the additional Y is taken under a public private partnership arrangement. Where Y is several times the multiple of X.

It might interest you to note that quite a number of government agencies, now use this method to drive up efficiency amongst their staff, who get commissions for meeting increased revenue targets. This is of course an attempt to move away from the usual practice of such staff cutting deals to enrich themselves and short-change the government.

The difference here is that efficiency/performance is high, and it reduces the need to steal from or short-change the government. Not noble or the most desirable outlook, but very efficient and far better than stealing government money, which was the norm previously.

This is why a lot of states understudy Lagos for implementing policies. That was why Fowler was appointed to lead FIRS.

Tinubu demonstrated genius as governor of Lagos, and may have done the same with his emergence as the APC flag bearer in spite of stiff opposition.

An investor who cleaned and possibly disguised his dirty money could be found out to be a drug baron or criminal. But as long as it was proven beyond reasonable doubt that Tinubu had no knowledge or part in the actual illicit trade, he could not be indicted.

This suggests why Tinubu was not indicted but only made to forfeit the monies from the illicit trade that was invested in his business, with the rest of the money released by the US authorities without further ado.

Bad guys who are clever are always looking for legitimate ways to clean their dirty monies, but sometimes get caught- thereby putting the unsuspecting financial institutions t risk of litigations, fines and other stiffer sanctions.

Some of the biggest investors today were bad guys that succeeded in cleaning their monies, as we hear from time to time. Some of them even write books about how to succeed legitimately because they were not caught.
