The most Rev Anthony Obinna the Catholic Archbishop of Owerri
Diocese,has rejected his appointment as Chairman of Committee
to Disburse N500m ISOPADEC empowerment fund for youths of
Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta LGA of Imo State. "I am not a Local
Government agent and therefore not in any position to distribute
money meant for the youths of the area" his Lordship said last
Sunday.
"I told them before I traveled overseas that I cannot be an agent
in a Local government."....."I want to state clearly that I did not
accept the offer,that it is not my duty to distribute money for
Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta Youths". The prelate made a joke about
going on exile during the 2015 elections.
Archbishop Obinna commonly known as Amarachi,a vocal cleric in
the Imo political hemisphere also cautioned against
POLITICIZATION of PRAYERS in Imo state. He reminded
Government that Prayers like Angelus (and other noon
prayers),IS NOT GOVT BUSINESS.
Meanwhile Concerned Youths of Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta LGAs have
voiced their displeasure over the N500m empowerment
programme.Calling the amount a Greek gift which doesn't reflect
the aspirations of the youths. Comrade Nyerike O Thomas on
behalf of the youths told journalists that Okorocha was playing
politics with the N500m describing it as a political exercise aimed
at deceiving and hoodwinking the youths into forgetting their
agitations for better funding of the ISOPADEC and provision of
basic amenities.
The Comrade said the govt should use the N500m fund to pay
for their Nepa,PHCN bills which past govts used to pay for the
people in the areas in the past but since roche came into power
they had been in darkness.The Comrade said he expects the
Governor Okorocha to provide his people with their N400m FG
flood money.....".
