Karma is a natural law that must not be ignored. I'm saying this with all sense of responsibility. About this time in 2009, precisely in September after CBN had taken over some banks, Bukola Saraki and his fellow conspirators including the then CBN Governor went to press with a list and value of assets of Erastus Akingbola and also Cecilia Ibru both real and imaginary. It generated and resulted in mass hatred for Akingbola and Ibru. All efforts to justify the legitimacy of such wealth and assets failed. Some of the assets were published at current value when they may have been acquired at far lower values. The press was manipulated and Saraki was the chief conspirator. Nigerians have a short memory and may have forgotten all that happened then.

For me, it is curious that a near similar fate is befalling Saraki. He will be struggling to justify this wealth and if this is followed to logical conclusion he may lose the assets and even go to jail. He may not have the benefit of even plea bargain.

There are lessons to be learnt in all that is happening. When people try to play god in a way that presents God in bad light the natural law of Karma sets in. It is Saraki's turn today, we do not know whose turn it will be tomorrow. This underscores the fact that we should always seek to do good. The Rotary Club 4 Way quote summarises how we should live our lives no matter the religion you practice. In all that you do or say: is it the truth, is it fair to all concerned, will it be beneficial to all concerned, will it bring goodwill and better friendship? I like the first 2 a lot. Not practising them is the root cause of the problems we have in the world.

While all these political events unfold before us, it is important we seek the learning points in each event instead of just enjoying the drama. Nothing in life is a mistake or failure. Mistakes don't occur, only lessons. And until we learn the lessons we will always have a carry over.
