Sometimes you can’t help but wonder why everything in Nigeria is done extra extra .

Wife to be said she wants to take up 40% of the expenses.( I am far from broke ooo and she knows) To my single brothers you should try and date women from other African countries . Weytin wuna de endure for relationship for Nigeria no be life oooo.

The golden rule is, never spend more than your 2 months salary on annual rent. Once you violate this rule you're heading to financial ruin; a self-inflicted poverty rat race.

When my monthly income was around N30k, my annual house rent and electricity bill was around 45k.

Half to one decade later, monthly income is over N350k but annual house rent and electricity bill is around N110k.

If you can, limit your transportation cost from your place of residence to your place of income.

Some people earn over N300k monthly but spend 3k or more daily on transportation, which is over 60k monthly on transportation. Meanwhile they can get accomodation of 20-25k monthly within trekking distance to their work place. They ignore the little savings which can add up significantly over a long period of time.

Then there's another set of people that prefer patronising small shops DAILY for food and cooking items instead of buying their non perishable food items in bulk from the market. They end up paying 30%-40% higher for just food alone.

Well, the summary is just cut your coat according to your size... never live your life to impress friends and enemies. Live frugal.

Save, and then invest in assets instead of liabilities. A car in Nigeria has always been a liability if you're not using it to generate income. Tinubu's harsh policies has now made it obvious.

If you have any questions on how to navigate Nigeria's rough terrain you can quote me and ask.

Wish everyone the best
