TBE MAGAZINE: OHANAEZE NDI-IGBO SOUTH AFRICA SEEKS FREE VISA FOR NIGERIANS, DECRY INSECURITY IN SOUTHEAST

Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo South Africa has asked the South African government to include Nigeria in the list of countries on her visa free policy and to make a downward review of fine imposed on application for lost passports.

The apex Igbo sociocultural group made these demands on 24th and 25th August 2021 when it paid courtesy visits to Nigerian High Commissioner and Consul General in Pretoria and Johannesburg, South Africa. The president of Ohanaeze South Africa, Comrade Sunny Wenike Douglas led the delegation. In his address, Sunny Wenike appreciated Amb. Mohammed H. Manta, Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa and Hon. Abdul Malik Ahmed, Nigeria's Consul General for their hard work in ensuring the welfare of Nigerians resident in the country. The Nigerian Consulate in Johannesburg had provided its facility for the group's national election held in March 2021 which produced the group's new administration led by Wenike.

Sunny Wenike asked the Nigerian Authorities in South Africa to seek for the inclusion of Nigeria in the list of visa free countries policy. "Sir I appeal to your
office to liaise with the South African government through available instruments of the law to extend the visa exemption granted to some countries also to Nigerian Citizens".

South African government had in the recent past granted visa exemption to some countries in the Southern African development commission (SADEC block).

The group had earlier commended the cordial relationship between the government, Nigerians resident in the country and host communities. The group also said that as the leading ethnic group in the region, it will continue to lias with other Nigerians to ensure peaceful coexistence among all.

Reacting to the killings of Igbos in Southeast of Nigeria, Comrade Wenike called on President Mohammad Buhari led administration to ensure the safety of lives and properties in Southeast. "The insecurity in the South East region of Nigeria is of great concern to us in Ohaneze Ndigbo South Africa and we would want to call on the Federal government to address the prevalent issues of banditry and the criminality associated with farmers and herders clash that is persisting in the south east most recently which leaves the people of the region living in perpetual fear and uncertainty".

Responding to the demands of the group, Amb. Mohammed H. Manta, Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa and Hon. Abdul Malik Ahmed, Nigeria's Consul General appreciated the group for their timely visits and promised to channel their request to the appropriate quarters.

Also in the delegation were, the general secretary, Barr. Jeff Azubuike, and the group's Public Relations Officer, Hon. Darlynton Monye.

PRINCE ERONDU UCHE MOURNS AS FORMER FIRST LADY, VICTORIA AGUIYI IRONSI AND ADANMA MICHAEL OKPARA DIE UNDER 48 HOURS. AS CCAD ANAMBRA STATE CHAPTER PAYS CONDOLENCE VISIT ON FRIDAY AUGUST 27, 2021.

The President General of Concerned Citizens of Abia in Diaspora, CCAD and Spokesman of PANPIEC, Prince Erondu Uche on Monday, bemoaned the death of former First Lady of Nigeria, Chief Mrs Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi and wife of late Premier of Eastern Region, Chief Mrs Adamma Okpara, saying Nigeria and Abia State in particular have lost two great women.

Prince Erondu in a statement released by the Secretary General of Concerned Citizens of Abia in Diaspora, HRH Igwe Ambassador J.I Ochonma, in Abuja said the death of Chief Mrs Aguiyi-Ironsi, wife of first Nigeria’s Military Head of State, late General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, and Chief Mrs Okpara, wife of Premier of the defunct Eastern Region, Dr Michael Okpara is a huge loss to Abia state.

Both women, Prince Erondu said represented the best of womanhood and left legacies worthy of emulation. They indeed played noble roles of women in nation building and as moral conscience of society.

“Both women leaders lived out their roles as worthy pillars of support to their husbands, who played pivotal roles in the shaping of Nigeria as a nation at various times when they held sway as Head of State of Nigeria and Premier of Eastern Nigeria respectively".


“These women lived exemplary lives worthy of emulation and of course both of them raised good families and highly successful children. Abia state and Nigeria at large will miss them,” Prince Erondu said.

He, however, condoled with their families, the government and people of Nigeria as well as the government and people of Abia State over the demise of both women.

Reacting to the demise of the two icons, Hon. Innocent Nwachukwu, the Anambra state chapter President of Concerned Citizens of Abia in Diaspora CCAD said that Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi and south south chapter Executives of CCAD will pay condolence visit to the two families on Friday August 27, 2021.

The two Amazons passed-on on Sunday and Monday respectively, barely 24hours apart. While Okpara died on Sunday at the age of 97, Aguiyi-Ironsi joined her ancestors on Monday early morning at the age of 98.

Akeredolu Wins In Supreme Court, Jegede’s Suit Thrown Out

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has emerged victorious in the Supreme Court. The suit of Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was thrown out. The court upheld Akredolu’s victory in the October 10th, 2020 Gubernatorial elections.

PANPIEC TACKLES TINUBU, SOUTHERN GOVERNORS OVER DECISION ON 2023 PRESIDENCY, AS CONCERNED CITIZENS OF ABIA IN DIASPORA (CCAD) CALLS FOR KANU'S RELEASE.

The Pan Nigeria Presidency of Igbo Extraction Coalition PANPIEC, the umbrella body of all the groups championing for Igbo to become the next President in 2023, has faulted the comment of the Southern Governors' forum on 2023 Presidency, describing it as a secret plot to marginalise Ndi-Igbo in 2023.

The Coalition made its position known through its Director of Media and Publicity, Prince Erondu Uche while featuring in a national television programme "Politics today" on Wednesday July 7th, 2021. He said that the refusal of the Southern Governors to be specific on zoning 2023 Presidency to Igbo land could mean compromise". TBE Magazine had early reported that some of the current southern Governors are said to be lobbying for vice Presidential slot. Those being rumored to be lobbying for the number two position are, River state Governor, Nyesom Wike, Ebonyi state Governor, Dave Umahi and Imo state Governor, Hope Uzodinma.

"We had expected that the southern governors would have been specific on zoning the 2023 Presidency to Igbo land. Yoruba has produced 5 Nigerian vice Presidents and 3 Presidents. Former Vice Presidents from Yoruba are: Babafemi Ogundipe - 1966, Olusegun Obasanjo - 1975 - 1976, Tunde Idiagbon - 1983 - 1985, Oladipo Diya - 1993 - 1997, Yemi Osibanjo - 2015 - 2023. While former Presidents are: Olusegun Obasanjo - 1976 - 1979, Ernest Shonekan 1993, Olusegun Obasanjo - 1999 - 2007. Professor Yemi Osibanjo is the current Vice President and will complete 8 years as VP by 2023, Femi Gbajabiamila is the current speaker federal house of representatives. Where is the position of Igbo since Independence? I think there is a secret plot to marginalise Igbos again in 2023, but it will fail" he said.

Prince Erondu blamed the southeast and south south governors for not prevailing on their southwest counterparts to support Nigerian President of Igbo extraction in 2023. He also said that relocating the venue of the meeting from Delta state to Lagos has a political undertone.
"I had expected both southeast and south south governors to have prevailed on their southwest counterparts to support Nigerian president of Igbo extraction come 2023. Instead they said south, can't you see the game? When I learnt that the meeting had been shifted to Lagos, I knew that other issues will come up. Now Lagos has been chosen as the permanent place for the meeting, why not Delta state? Let me tell you, someone is trying to take advantage of the unity of the southern governors for personal gain", he added.

Meanwhile Concerned Citizens of Abia in Diaspora (CCAD) has asked the federal government to ensure that security operatives do not harm Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who is currently in their custody.

The supreme body binding all Abia Indigenes outside Abia state in a press release signed by the publicity secretary, Engr. Patrick Ugoala also condemned the complicity of Kenyan government in the arrest of the IPOB leader and asked the federal government to respect the international law by returning Nnamdi Kanu to the United Kingdom and follow due process in his extradition. TBE Magazine had reported that the group's President General, Prince Erondu Uche had condemned the way Kanu was brought back to Nigeria.

He made a name for himself.
Many call him son of perdition.
Some call him mister devil,
but his fans call him hero of
their time.

He is as peaceful as a wounded
escaping snake and as friendly as
a hungry lion looking for prey.
His wickedness is as loud as his
deceitful laughter.
I call him son of destiny, Destro,
the last minute man.

They conspired and destroyed
the altar upon which they stand.
Illiterates, educated illiterates and
iberibe nights of saint darkness
in a combined defeated battle.
Animal kingdom trying to make
human laws.

Founding fathers weep in their graves
while hooligans in power wine and
dine in triumph of their failed kingdom.

In the botched state, boys become
kings, mothers take their bath in the
open field at noon and old men dance
naked under the moon light, all in
adoration of the devilish dance of
the destroyer - the last minute man.

Thou son of perdition, how vision less,
direction less and hopeless you are!
Thou robot controlled by greed and
a fool on a broken chair!

He has only one thing in mind, treachery.
The voluntary slaves he employ have
become wiser. The once foolish majority
are now sober but fiercer.
He believes in his hold on his former
slaves, but days ahead will divulge
surprises.

Ruthless rulers! Tormentors of the
masses! Preachers of crisis!

they act, forgetting the

How has the mighty fallen thou son

vehicles you park along the road to

innocent in your washbasin crieth and

and Gomorrah shall receive apology
if woe befalleth thee not!

While the impunity lasted, the wise
wondered the type of dance that
was displayed. Was it anyantolaukwu,
ikpirikpiogu or owigiri dance?
