Science/Technology / Huawei Mate 9 Review by Technation: 2:55pm On Dec 21, 2016
Although it wasn’t the only big-screen smartphone released in 2016, the Galaxy Note 7 will be the device everyone remembers, and not for the right reasons. Samsung’s next big thing turned out to be a big disaster, and what was almost the Android phone everyone could heartily recommend, became the Android phone we told people to run screaming from.
It left the crown for best trouser-pocket-stretching phone up for grabs, and while we love the LG V20, the company stumbled when it decided to limit its release to a select few markets, especially in light of the Note 7’s disappearance. What phone should people who find a 5.5-inch display just too restrictive buy?
Huawei swooped in to save the day with the Mate 9, the follow-up to last year’s well-received Mate 8. It has a massive 5.9-inch screen, a strong processor, and a new version of the superb Leica camera we adored on the Huawei P9. Samsung’s misfortune may turn out to be Huawei’s opportunity to wow smartphone fans in the U.S.
A giant screen in a modest package
Here’s a surprise: The Mate 9 isn’t a big smartphone. The screen may be massive, but Huawei has clearly used some form of magic to squeeze it into a small body. Is the Mate 9 related to Doctor Who’s Tardis? Very possibly. It’s shorter and the same width as the LG V20, which has a 5.7-inch screen, and just 2mm longer and 3mm wider than the 5.5-inch Pixel XL. Probably not coincidentally, it has a nearly identical footprint to the Apple iPhone 7 Plus.
It sits very comfortably in your hand. Yes, you still have to stretch your thumb from one side of the screen to the other, but it’s not an impossible task. It takes no more effort to do so than on “normal” phones like the iPhone 7 Plus or the Pixel XL. The use of on-screen Android menu keys only helps, too. Huawei smoothed the sides of the metal body, but left enough of an edge to give the phone some “bite,” lowering the chances of it slipping from your grip.

While it’s relatively compact and comfortable, it is quite heavy at 190 grams. It’s a big, all-metal phone, with a very large piece of Gorilla Glass over the display, so the extra weight isn’t a shock. This whopping size doesn’t apply to the fingerprint sensor, which is below the camera lens on the rear. It’s actually quite small and is completely obscured by my fingertip. It’s no bad thing, and the accuracy can’t be faulted.
What the Mate 9 isn’t, is very pretty. The design has barely changed from the Mate 8, which was a bit faceless to start with, and although the dual-lens Leica camera gives it some character; the Mate 9 is all business and not much play.
Software tweaks add features
Huawei has always frustrated us with its software. It covers Android in its own Emotion user interface (EMUI), which in the past has been intrusive, sometimes buggy, and often awkwardly frustrating. No more so than many other third-party user interfaces, but it usually let the overall phone experience down in a way that seemed unnecessary.
The screen may be massive, but Huawei used some form of magic to squeeze it into a small body.
The Mate 9 still has EMUI, but it’s version 5, and it has been refined. Huawei tells us it’s the company’s biggest software revision to date, with more than 400 alterations, many of which remove older elements we didn’t like. The great news is it’s built over Android 7.0 Nougat, and our review phone has the November 2016 Android security patch installed, so it’s about as up to date as Android phones can get.
Huawei was always a great fan of spreading apps across multiple home screens, Apple-style, rather than giving Android users an app drawer. Rejoice, Android purists, because the Mate 9 has an app drawer. It’s an option hidden in the menu system, but it’s there. Personally, I’ve never had a problem with putting apps on home screens, but having the chance to clear them, highlight key apps, and show off some cool wallpaper is great.
The notification shade now offers a more standard Android experience. Before, EMUI made you swipe about to reach the shortcuts for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other options. On the Mate 9 with EMUI 5, you swipe down to open the shade, then again to reveal all the shortcuts. Just like standard Android on phones like the Pixel and Nexus devices. It’s excellent news.
More: Huawei Nova review
There’s still a range of pre-installed apps, including Huawei’s own music and video player, game centre, notepad, weather app, calculator, clock, file manager, compass, download manager, and many more. A booking.com, WPS Office, Todoist, and News Republic app are also onboard, the latter of which insists on sending breaking news alerts as notifications, until I made it stop by uninstalling it. The majority of the pre-installed apps can be uninstalled, so if you can’t stand the sight of them, it’s easy to clear them out.
Huawei included a few notable additional features. App Twin allows you to run two different accounts from a single app. For example, you can run a personal and work version of Facebook or WhatsApp on the same device. Use is limited to supported apps, though. To minimize the negative effects on sleep caused by blue light from the screen, there’s an eye-comfort mode with a scheduler, and there’s a sound recorder that makes great use of the multiple microphones.
Huawei Mate 9 review
Andy Boxall/Digital Trends
Although it’s too early to tell, Huawei has used some clever algorithms to stop Android from slowing down over time, meaning the phone should remain the same speed demon it is now, for the length of time you own it. Huawei also uses this machine learning system to monitor how you use the phone, and what apps you frequently use, to try and predict what you do on a regular basis. Through this understanding, it funnels system resources to those apps and features automatically, in theory making the phone faster in the places you want it. It’s difficult to say if this works. The phone’s really fast, regardless of how it achieves it.
The changes made to EMUI are interesting. It’s a vast improvement over previous models, and no longer a reason to avoid a Huawei phone, but it’s still different and unique enough so as not to lose its Huawei identity. That’s clever, and shows the effort that has gone into the software. The Mate 9’s EMUI fills a pleasing, usable space in-between stock Android and Huawei’s previous extreme customization techniques. We’d still prefer the Pixel’s clean, standard version of Android, but Huawei has taken a giant leap forward here.
Lightning fast performance

Huawei doesn’t use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821, or any Qualcomm chip, in its flagship phones. The Mate 9 introduces the Kirin 960 octa-core processor, which is the first to use ARM’s new A73 design, bringing it right up to date. It’s a monster. Regardless of the task, game, or app, the Mate 9 sprinted along, never showing any signs of fatigue.
Put the phone through the usual benchmark tests, and it comes close to Snapdragon 821 devices, such as the OnePlus 3T, depending on the test. It’s worth remembering the Mate 9 has 4GB of RAM, rather than the OnePlus 3T’s 6GB. On AnTuTu, the Mate 9 scores 132,922, which is way below the OnePlus 3T’s average 166,000. Geekbench 4 is more interesting, as it records 5,893, considerably more than the OnePlus 3T’s 4,390. Gaming benchmark app 3D Mark returned a 2,389 score on Slingshot Extreme.
More: Huawei Watch review
Most importantly, the tiny stutters and pauses we’ve seen in older Huawei phones, almost certainly caused by EMUI, are gone on the Mate 9. They were never hugely intrusive, but remove them and the overall experience is cohesive, smoother, more mature, and speeds up work flow in subtle ways. The Mate 9 is a phone primarily aimed at people who wear suits and carry briefcases, and this is important for productivity fiends.
Stunning dual cameras by Leica
The Huawei P9 was the first to feature a Leica co-developed dual-lens camera, and it remains an amazing camera phone. The Mate 9 brings the second-generation sensor with it, along with a lot of expectation. Early builds of the software didn’t bring out the camera’s best, and we held off reviewing the device before the final version that will be installed on the phone you buy was released.
It changed everything for the better, and we’re extremely pleased to report the Mate 9’s camera is every bit as fantastic as the P9’s. The top lens shoots in color and has 12 megapixels, while the monochrome lens underneath has been boosted to 20 megapixels. There’s optical image stabilisation, phase detection, laser autofocus, 4K video recording, and a f/2.2 aperture.

Science/Technology / Top 5 Smartphone Trends Of 2016 by Technation: 9:56am On Dec 20, 2016
As we approach 2017, it’s time we take a look back at some of the trends that had a big impact on how we use our smartphones.

Faster Networks: Network connectivity speeds got a serious boost with new modem technologies such as 4G LTE technology which became more widespread in 2016. The Huawei Y6 II for instance can download data over LTE networks at an ultrafast speeds of up to 150Mbps (bits per second) which is faster than all devices within in its range

Selfie Phones (Better Front Facing Cameras): Just a few years ago, front facing cameras on phones were just VGA, 1.3MP or maximum 2MP, but with the rise of the self-portraits craze, front cameras on smartphones got the required bump they needed this year. Most companies launched phones with a front facing 5 Megapixel camera and advertised it as their selfie phone this year, but Huawei went one further and released the Y6 II, equipped with an 8-megapixel f/2.0 front camera and beautification technology which allows users to enhance images with various makeup styles and preview the effects in real time with a single touch. The function provides eight templates and delivers more natural effects and a range of advanced professional beautifying features.

Kirin 960

Faster chips: As always, a lot of the new smartphones were equipped with faster and more energy-efficient chips. Graphics were smoother, and applications ran much faster in 2016. But a new twist in mobile processors is stacked transistors, which allow more features to be packed into smaller chips. This is a big chip-manufacturing advancement that will allow smartphones to do a lot more while preserving battery life. For instance, Huawei’s latest Kirin 960 processor which got its first debut in the new Mate 9 to provides better performance to run apps, videos and HD games seamlessly, as well as for other day to day uses.

Bigger, Better Screens: 2016 marked the mainstream acceptance of 5”plus smartphones. This was largely caused by technology advancements allowing manufacturers to make bezels almost non-existent. Over the years, every mobile device with a screen larger than 5” was instantly ridiculed and deemed to be unusable. It seems, though, that customers just needed to overcome their initial concerns about the portability of large smartphones. 2016 was also the year of 1080p full HD screens on phones. Barely a couple of years ago, 1080p screens on TVs were the norm and now the same number of pixels are being crammed into many phone displays.

Huawei Nova Plus
Finger print technology: Finger print unlock has become the smartphone trend as serves as a mark for premium smartphones. Unlock passcodes and patterns are no longer something to be surprised about and all premium smartphone manufacturers from Huawei to Apple have embraced the finger print trend, but not just any finger print technology is trending. The Huawei GR5 Mini which has been dubbed the King of fingerprint comes with a 2.0 fingerprint sensor, which has been improved 100 per cent over the 1st generation. It recognizes your fingerprint in 0.5 seconds and it comes with 360° Readability, allowing fingerprint contact to be made from any angle, left right, front or back, even with partially wet hands.

What were your favorite smartphone trends for 2016? Let us know if we have missed out on any trend.

For the first time ever, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei has beaten Samsung to become the world's most profitable Android device maker, showing a reversal in the Korean smartphone maker's fortunes.

For the third quarter of 2016, although Samsung surpassed all other Android smartphone makers in terms of the volume and value of devices it shipped, due to the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, its smartphone profits fell so low that at least three other device manufacturers have surpassed it, according to a new report by research firm Strategy Analytics.

As usual, Apple continues to have the lion's share of global smartphone operating profits, earning a total of $8.5bn (£6.8bn) in Q3, which is 91% of the total share.

The remaining 9% of the market is made up of Huawei, with $200m (a 2.4% share), Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo with just under $200m (a 2.2% share), another Chinese smartphone device maker Oppo Electronics with just under $200m (also a 2.2% share), and finally all other Android OEM device makers – including Samsung – who jointly have a 2.2% share.

"Three of the world's top four most profitable smartphone vendors are currently Chinese. Huawei, Vivo and Oppo have not only improved their smartphone product line-ups this year, they have also enhanced their operational abilities and kept a tight lid on expanding distribution costs," said Strategy Analytics director Linda Sui.

Interestingly, Bloomberg points out that just two years ago, barely anyone outside China had even heard of Vivo or Oppo. Both firms are owned by reclusive billionaire Duan Yong Ping, whose strategy for success was to market low-cost Android smartphones to Chinese consumers in rural areas who were not obsessed with the prestige of big expensive brands such as the iPhone or Samsung Galaxy, the way people in big cities like Beijing and Shanghai were.

Turning away from online shopping, Vivo and Oppo chose to focus on marketing locally with big high street retail stores, where three quarters of all smartphone sales in China take place. But it seems to have worked, because today, the iPhone market share in China is now just 7% – its lowest in three years, while one in every three smartphones sold in China in Q3 was either an Oppo or Vivo phone.

Yet Huawei is not doing badly either. In the second quarter of 2016, the phone manufacturer rose to the top of China's smartphone market, and in February, it declared to CNBC that it planned to surpass Apple as the second-biggest smartphone player in the world by 2019, before going on to conquer Samsung by 2021.
Science/Technology / Our Products Have Least Failure Rate In Nigeria And Globally by Technation: 2:07pm On Dec 14, 2016
For a company that started manufacturing smartphones just five years ago, Huawei has astonished industry watchers with its amazing growth and achievements. Today, it is among the Top 3 smartphone brands in the world, and has for three years running been listed among the 100 most admirable brands in the world. In this interview, the Managing Director, Devices Huawei Technologies Co. Nigeria Ltd, Leo Jiang, speaks with Raheem Akingbolu on the brand’s strength and aspirations for Nigeria and its global market.

What is your take on the outlook of the Nigerian economy?
Presently, one of the major attractions of the Nigerian economy to global investors to my mind is the stability that has been bestowed on it by the sustenance of democratic governance. International businesses and investors want to flow with stable policies. For a country that endured long spell of military intervention in governance from independence in 1960 with civil rule lasting barely six years from that date to find herself under unbroken civil leadership since 1999 is remarkable. Civil rule promises stability and so long as that is guaranteed, global investors would be attracted. And so long as leading investors from across the world are attracted to any economy, it will continue to witness growth.

Science/Technology / Huawei’s Phone Clone App by Technation: 10:14am On Nov 29, 2016
Huawei has introduced the ‘Phone Clone’ app in Nigeria, which will enable Nigerians to move content easily, no matter the location and timing, from space directly to your phone. The app, according to Huawei, is a seamless ‘one-touch’ experience that is available to download for all smartphones on Google play and App store for free.

The application enables the transfer of files from one smartphone device to another, allowing users to move content between phones with the touch of a button, which makes it user-friendly and convenient for everyone.

The phone clone feature also provides users with a solution to data transfer problems that usually arises when attempting to transfer content to a new device from a different manufacturer and with operating systems.

Huawei says it has considered this with the phone clone feature, creating an application that is compatible with both iOS and Android, and offers users more comprehensive support.

Cloning, as the name suggests, indicates the seamless, smooth copy or transfer of data. The application allows transfer of data, including contacts, messages or any other personal data; and multimedia like photos, music and videos, free of cost and without any prior registration requirement. Phone clone allows transfer of data without using any mobile network or the constant need to re-set the transfer for various file formats.

Prior to the Huawei phone clone when transferring data, an SD card is used to transfer data from the old device to the SD card, and then on to the new phone by inserting the SD card.

This process was ineffective because content was overlooked on the old device. Bluetooth, which is another often used method employed for the transfer of data, also has limitations in terms of sloe transfer speed in cases where heavy images and videos are being transferred to a new device.

The phone clone feature has the ability to process and seamlessly transfer hundreds of megabytes of date in multiple formats within in a matter of minutes. It breaks through the cluttered data transfer landscape with a fresh approach that addresses users’ core concerns.
Science/Technology / Tyranny Of Choice: Six Key Factors To Consider In Choosing Your Smartphone by Technation: 9:38pm On Nov 28, 2016
Choosing a new phone seems like an easy enough task but the truth is, it could be one of the most defining decisions you’ll have to make this year. Good smartphones don’t come cheap, so you might as well get good value for your money. With the superb choices in the market, the tyranny of choice may lead you to make an obvious but uninformed choice. But fear not, having choices is also a good thing, if you’re guided with the knowledge and information to help make your choice smarter and simpler.
Now let’s begin:

1. Operating System

First things first, what operating system would best suit your mobile needs. If you’re not tech inclined, there are four mobile operating systems, each with its own benefits;

Android: Developed by Google, android is an open source operating system that runs on the majority of new phones. Android has the most robust apps store in comparison to other operating systems called Google Play filled with Google services. The main issue with Android is that because it’s open source. Manufacturers like Samsung and HTC often modify its design and functionality, sometimes to the detriment of usability, while other manufacturers like Huawei modify to increase and improve usability.

BlackBerry: If you’re hooked on BBM or love physical keyboards and small screens, then you should go for the Blackberry. The OS is made by Canadian company, Research in Motion, and it helped kick off the smartphone revolution years ago, but it has had difficulty keeping up lately. Furthermore, most Blackberry devices have slower hardware and lack some of the core amenities that Android and iOS offer.

iOS: iPhone is the only phone that runs iOS and Apple intends on keeping it that way. The iPhone seems to be the benchmark for mobile technology, but as more options become available, it’s slowly no longer the standard on which all other phones are measured. If you own other Apple devices or enjoy services like ITunes, the iPhone may be a good option for you. Sadly, it doesn’t allow as much curious exploration with software as the Android does, but it has a clean and simple design. Unfortunately, unlike Huawei smartphones, for instance, which allow you download music and videos on your device at will, Apple products, much to the dismay of music lovers, prevents you from this key feature.

Windows Phone: After the failure of Windows Mobile, Microsoft started from scratch and built Windows Phone, which is based almost entirely on the Zune MP3 player interface. The great thing about the Windows phone is that everything on your homepage can display moving information or graphics.
Instead of relying on a grid of shortcuts and a notification tray, Windows Phone uses Live Tiles, which are half app icon, half widget.

2. Screen size

Big screens are so in trend that carrying a small screened phone makes you seem kind of crazy and old-fashioned. Larger screens make the mobile experience so much better, but small screens don’t necessarily mean less power. The iPhone SE with a small screen of 4.4 inches combines power plus no stretchy thumbs. But if you’re looking for the best of both worlds – large screen, power, and awesome features – then the Huawei GR5 mini with the sweet spot size of 5.2 inches and with its ultra-thin and chic design to avoid stretchy thumbs is your best bet.

3. Music download

Majority of us use our phones for three important things – calls, texts and music. Personally, the ability to download music is the most important factor in the phone selection process. For the iPhone there’s the iTunes. Although being part of the Apple community makes you feel like you’re part of a family, I think I’m going to run away from home simply because I recently found that on Android I can download music directly from the internet and straight to my phone! Not only this, you can send songs to fellow android users via Bluetooth! You can’t do this on the iPhone, even if both sharers use an iPhone. If you think of it, android seems more like a family than iOS. So why settle for an iPhone when you can go for a Huawei or an HTC?

4. Camera

I think this should have been the first on the list, because with Instagram, Snapchat and other social media platforms, it is critical to impress your followers. Hence the need for a phone with a camera that you can actually call a camera. Basically, all top tier smartphone manufacturers have cameras from Apple to Huawei to Samsung to Windows but the question is which of them have the best camera? With a Dual lens camera, crafted in partnership with Leica; the leading camera manufacturing company, the Huawei P9 camera produces more light than both the Samsung S7 and IPhone 6s, making the Huawei P9 camera clearly superior. Plus with the monochrome and clarity camera features, all your photos and selfies will come out looking incredible!

5. Battery life

This is one feature that I regret not prioritizing when selecting my phone. If you have an iPhone you basically have something I like to call BLA – Battery Life Anxiety. It’s when you’re constantly in need of that power bank or looking for a wall socket or laptop to charge your phone. Sometimes it always seems like your phone runs out of power when you need it the most. So when you’re looking for a new phone, be sure to check the strength of the battery. Make sure you don’t go for anything less than 3000mAH. Phone manufacturers now recognize the grave importance of battery life and are squeezing greater-capacity batteries into their phones. Typical phone batteries start in the neighborhood of 700mAh and can go all the way up to 4,000mAh, like the Huawei Mate 8.

6. Price

While all these features are important, price always seems to be the key deciding factor to most especially young people still in school and young professionals. What we fail to understand is that the cost of a phone is not just the figure on the price tag but the value of the phone to us and how much it satisfies our mobile needs. While you could get a new iPhone 6s for about N230, 000, some people see this as not much considering the actual value of the phone, some may simply pay more for an iPhone simply because it’s an iPhone. Others would prefer to go for something a bit different with better quality, more functionality and staying power, at a similarly high but more acceptable price of 170,000 and above like a Huawei smartphone or a windows phone.

Bonus Tip: The fact that everyone is buying it, does NOT mean it’s the best. This is becoming increasingly clear with some of the amazing new devices we see from Android phone companies.
Science/Technology / Huawei Y3 II Hands On Review by Technation: 4:53pm On Nov 28, 2016
An affordable smartphone which provides all you need…

Introduction

Huawei Y series smartphones are known for their affordability and decent specifications and features, the Huawei Y3 II was recently released In the Nigerian market and I got to review it, so here are my views.

Packaging: The Y3 II comes nicely packaged in a red rectangular box with two seals with the inscription “I’m secure, check contents if seal is broken or VOID displayed” to ensure users are not cheated in their purchase as some dishonest phone sellers sometimes remove or switch accessories in phone packages, so if you see void displayed on the seal, check the box to ensure all content is complete.

Some specs are written on the box such as the colour, battery capacity, screen size, camera size, processor and Android version however there is no information about the phone’s RAM, Internal Storage and whether or not it has a microSD slot which are things buyers take very seriously, Huawei needs to add these details on their phone boxes.

What’s in the Box: Huawei Y3 II phone, battery, screen protector, clear glass phone case, earpiece, USB cable, charger adapter (to be used with USB cable) and phone manual.

huawei y3 II

Design: The Huawei Y3 II has a nice design; it is sleek, light and easy to hold. It has an aluminum build with curved edges and a glossy finish. There are no hard keys on the phone, all the three buttons are soft keys.

Screen: The Y3 II has a 4.5 inch FWVGA, 480×854 pixel touchscreen which is just okay for its price. The display quality is in the same range with similarly priced smartphones.

Gaming and App Performance: I installed some games and other apps on the Y3 II and it had a decent performance, however it is not well suited for very high graphics and power consuming games as it has just 1 GB RAM. The Huawei phone manager software provided by the Emotion User Interface (EMUI) however helps you conserve power and manage apps effectively to optimize the phone’s performance.

Science/Technology / Huawei Y3 Lite Review by Technation: 4:47pm On Nov 28, 2016
Before now, I had looked forward to reviewing this smartphone recently launched by Huawei, the global leader smartphone maker. I have finally, gotten access to the phone and am sharing with you some of my observations about the “great smartphone for the poor.” Yes, smartphone for the poor

When we are talking about very innovative and affordable smartphone for low-end users then, you have to start talking about Huawei Y3. The smart device which is not more than three months of launch in Nigeria is packed with full Android features as well as extended life battery which is a primary criterion for phone selection in Nigeria. Considering the price which could be as low as 23k, I can say it’s the cheapest comparing other smartphones with the same specification.

You can order on Konga now

Huawei Y3 smartphone runs on the Android operating system, which is currently the most popular platform on the market. EMUI, by Huawei, runs on top of Android on this device, offering a customized experience.

Main Display: 4″ WVGA touch screen

Design

I am impressed with the design. The Huawei Y3 Lite has style. Its matte finish, curved edges, and overall design give the phone some elegance and a good fit in hand. It is thicker than most with a lighter than average weight
The phone’s body is 122.60mm high, 63.80mm wide, and has a depth of 10.90mm, 23% thicker than an average smartphone.

With a weight of 120 grams, it’s one of the lightest smartphones for its size. The smaller battery capacity helps shave weight off of this device. Dimensions of the Huawei Y3 are 133 x 68 x 9.5 m while the weight is 153 g.

Display

The screen is rather small at 4 inches. It is LCD WVGA with 16 million colors and a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels or 233 ppl. The screen appears bright. For protection against scratches, the screen is coated with Corning Gorilla Glass.

OS, Processor, and Memory

OS for the Huawei Y3 is Android 4.4 (KitKat) with EMUI Lite as an interface. It is significant that the phone’s processor is quad core. Processor speed is 1.3 GHz while RAM is 512 MB. Internal memory is 4 GB, and there is provision for storage expansion through microSD of up to 32 GB.

The base model of the Y3 has 4GB of internal storage, which makes it a poor choice for storing multimedia. Fortunately, there are other storage size options, or you can cheaply expand its storage by as much as 32GB with a microSD card.

Camera

I wasn’t expecting much in this aspect considering the prize. The Huawei Y3 Lite has two cameras; a 5 MP 2560 x 1920 p resolution at the back and a 2 MP 800 x 480 p resolution at the front. Camera features include video, digital zoom, face detection, HDR capture and smile detection. Battery

After a full charge, I discovered that the phone could last as much as three days probably because I didn’t download or use any application on the phone. On the other hand, after installing some essential apps for usage, I was able to use the phone for over 25hours. However, regarding battery capacity, which is the actual electric charge the battery holds, this phone can hold 1,730 mAh. It provides a 2G talk time of 6 Hours 40 minutes, 2G standby time of 280 hours, 3G talk time of 6 hours and 3G standby times of 280 hours. The phone has a super power saving mode through which users can get extra hours out of the battery. The battery is removable.

My Verdict

Pros

It is affordable for low end users
Good and elegant design
Low weighty smartphone
Good battery life

Cons

Its expensive compared to infinix note 2 which is in the same price range.

Technology Market / Huawei’s G Power Redefines Smartphone Performance by Technation: 9:48am On Nov 25, 2016
Huawei has in the past few years been taking the smartphone industry on a rollercoaster ride of excitement and anticipation with the new phones being released from its stables. Recently the Huawei G Power was launched and this phone definitely has bragging rights.

The Huawei G Power
The G Power has a water-wave design and a professional camera which produces really great image quality. The phone’s photo quality has even been compared to the quality than an SLR camera can produce.
The most impressive feature of the G Power is its battery strength. At 4,000mah, the G Power can provide up to 3 hours of talk with as little as a 10 minute charge. The G. Phones / Smartphones: A New Dimension To Bullet Proof by Technation: 1:21pm On Nov 02, 2016
Lagos, Nigeria – 28th October, 2016: More and more stories have continued to emerge from around the world of victims of violence whose lives were saved by their Huawei mobile devices. The latest is the story of a very fortunate South African man, Siraaj Abrahams who is only alive today, thanks to his Huawei P8 which caught the bullet targeted at his heart.

According to the 41-year-old Abrahams, a father of five children who runs an IT and automotive business in Cape Town, he was attacked and a bullet that could have penetrated his chest got lodged in his Huawei P8 Lite instead. After being shot, he passed out without knowing his Huawei smartphone had saved his life. Sometime later, Abrahams claimed to have seen the hole left by the bullet in his jacket and his broken Huawei smartphone and realized what had happened.

As odd as the story sounds, it is not actually the first time a Huawei smartphone has blocked a bullet and saved a life. A P7 user living in the tropical forests of Guatemala had a similar story to tell. Another grateful Huawei phone user is a researcher from Milllward Brown who used the Media Pad as a shield to protect himself from a gunshot fire exchange in Garissa, Kenya that could have taken his life while he was conducting field work research.

Interesting stories have been reported where smartphones have been used for everything from cracking walnuts to catching bullets. While these stories claim quite a bit of luck, world leading smartphone manufacturer Huawei continues to take steps to refine their manufacturing and quality control processes. This ensures that devices are crafted to perfection with multiple rounds of testing and developers pay meticulous attention to the device’s design and manufacturing processes.

For instance, according to Huawei, when it comes to inspection, it has a top-notch reliability test laboratory where comprehensive tests are conducted on all its handsets and at times these measures can be extreme. Some of these tests include:
• Mechanical reliability check: A sample must withstand thousands of rounds of drum tests, 500 rounds of twist tests, a 70kg hardware stress test and 2,000 rounds of software stress tests.
• Environmental durability: The sample undergoes a 72-hour solar radiation test, 48 hours of hot and cold shift tests, 8 hours of salt spray tests, damp heat test, vibration test and other wear-resistance tests.
• Lifecycle reliability checks: The sample undergoes 800,000 touch screen taps, 200,000 key touches, 5,000 headphone plug endurance tests and 10,000 USB interface plug endurance tests.

In terms of quality management systems, Huawei’s products meet the world’s most rigid standards such as those applied in the US, Europe and Japan and all products passing through the human radiation safety laboratory testing fully comply with the US FCC certification, says Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group. “Quality is the integrity and lifeline of Huawei. It employs the ‘craftsmen’s spirit’ to measure its products and ensure zero defects.”

Thanks to its zero tolerance towards defective products and continued pursuit of innovation and quality, Huawei has earned global success and widespread acclaim. In the telecommunication equipment market, Huawei is already the world’s leading information and communication solutions provider. In the smartphone market, according to figures from market and user experience research consultancy, GFK, Huawei’s global market share has stayed in the top three, while taking the lead in most markets. More than 60% of Huawei’s revenue comes from the overseas market as its products are shipped to over 170 countries around the world.
