Business / The Power Of Running A Purposeful Business by Technext: 2:57pm On Oct 28, 2020
Purpose is a very important aspect of life and it should be so for every business. But the unfortunate thing is that while so many people don’t discover their purpose, many business owners also forget or don’t even bother to build a purpose-driven business.

But it is important that you go beyond just starting a business to doing much more.

Apart from the fact that this makes the whole hard work of running a business even harder, it also doesn’t as deeply connect you to the people that you serve.

Nairaland / General / “what Is The Essence Of BVN?”- Nigerians Slam Fg’s Self Certification Form by Technext: 11:40am On Sep 18, 2020
Nigerians have kicked against the Federal Government’s decision mandating all persons holding accounts in various financial institutions including banks and insurance companies to complete and submit a Self Certification Form.

The Federal Government made the announcement via its official twitter handle.

According to the government, “persons holding accounts in different financial institutions is (sic) required to complete and submit the form to each one of the institutions. The forms are required by the relevant financial institutions to carry out due diligence procedures in line with the Income Tax Regulations 2019.”

The self certification form is in 3 categories: – Form for Entity – For Controlling Person (Individuals having a controlling interest in a legal person, trustee, etc) – Form for individuals.

FG statement
Both individuals and corporate entities will be required to fill and submit the Self Certification Form to every financial institution where they operate an account.

Going by the government’s statement, defaulters of this directive will be sanctioned through fines or may have their financial assets frozen.

Nigerians have shown their dissatisfaction with the government’s Self-certification decision which, according to many of them, defeats the whole essence of obtaining Bank Verification Numbers (BVN) in the first place.

Disney in its latest movie, Mulan tells the story of Hua Mulan (Liu Yifei) who disguises herself as a man to join the army in the stead of her sickly father – Hua Zhou (Tzi Ma), during a general conscription.

Mulan, unlike a lot of Disney’s live-action remakes, is not a shot-for-shot remake of the 1998 original. The movie makes relatively changes like the addition of the mysterious power CHI that made Mulan special. Mulan already has more than 50,000 reviews on the site. Science/Technology / Will Nigeria Be Left Behind In Embracing The Startup Act To Build Ecosystems? by Technext: 8:09am On Aug 28, 2020
Authorities in Rwanda are putting plans in place regarding the enactment of a Startup Act to push policy reforms that will support the advancement of startup businesses in the country. Should the Act be passed into law, Rwanda will become the third African country to execute such a bill, after Tunisia and Senegal.

More African countries are now working on the idea of implementing a Startup Act to foster the growth and sustain the viability of startup tech companies and other SMEs, as well as drive overall economic growth.

Pan African community, i4Policy, is at the heart of creating a working draft for Startup Acts in Africa and will be working together with the Rwandan government in its efforts to integrate the Act into its national policy. More than ten (10) other African countries including Ghana and Mali are reportedly teaming up with i4Policy to establish a Startup Act.

The startup ecosystem in Nigeria remains one of the largest in Africa. There are over 250 organisations classified as startups in Nigeria, with more than 110 of them owned by Nigerians.

Recent government policies in Nigeria have, however, frozen out some promising startups in the country like the Opay, Gokada and Max.
