I think it's just fine. The focus is really on your first course. Your SOP could even be built around just your first course (I think that's even how the portal puts it). But then, if you are asked for any reasons, you could just explain as you have done now. Be sure to already state that the reason for your interest in ML is to optimize supply chain operations. That already ties your interests together and anyone seeing your choices should understand.
