The processor finally made its debut on Huawei lastest smartphones-Mate 20 and Mate 20 pro. Huawei promised the 7nm processor will destroy the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845, t he chip that powers almost all Android phones. Kirin 980 powering the Mate 20 Pro comes with upgraded GPU and NPU, 40% better power efficiency. It is 75% more powerful than the previous generation and 58% more efficient. It is also the first chip to embed Cortex-A76-based cores. Worth noting is the fact that it features a total of 6.9 billion transistors, same as Apple's A12 Bionic. Alongside the powerful processor is the 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The journey of the Kirin 980 started three years ago with a focus on three categories: power and efficiency, connectivity, intelligence. The Kirin 980's GPU shows a 76 per cent performance increase and 2.2 times faster than the previous Kirin 970 NPU. Recall that the Chinese-phone maker boasted that the 970 NPU performance is two times and three times higher than the Snapdragon 980 and A11 Bionic respectively. 2) THE REVERSE CHARGING TECHNOLOGY : The whopping 4,200 mAH battery that comes with the Huawei Mate 20 pro gives room for reverse wireless charging. For those confused about that, it means you can use the Mate 20 pro to pass some battery juice to your friend's smartphone through wireless charging provided their phone is Qi-enabled. Although Huawei didn't reveal how fast the output is, it definitely not going to match a regular charge rate. The Mate 20 pro comes with fast charging 40W adapter to reach 70% charge under 30minutes. 3) THE TRIPLE CAMERA : Mate 20 Pro has a 40MP primary camera, yes massive 40MP. The phone boasts three rear cameras arranged neatly in a square. There is the top right 40MP wide-angle camera with f/1.8 aperture, the 20MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture and the bottom right 8MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture. The front is equally impressive with a 24MP camera. There is also TOF sensor, dot projector, flood illuminator and IR camera. Huawei is using AI in its camera just like last year kirin 970 processor. But this time has now doubled down with dual-core NPU to further help with imaging. Huawei claims the AI can detect multiple objects such as sky, water, food, animals and filters to each. You can now record 4k at 60fps and slow-motion at 960fps. Also, with the help of AI, the camera can remove the flickering of lights that is common when shooting slow-motion with indoor light. 4) IN-DISPLAY FINGERPRINT SENSOR : Huawei has done this before but improved greatly with the Mate 20 Pro. It is slightly faster, by 20 per cent as claimed by Huawei. You can lock applications with the 24MP camera for facial unlock or the fingerprint reader. The company said wearing hats, growing beard or using makeup doesn't matter as the facial unlock will always recognize it's you. Huawei Mate 20 Pro is now available for pre-order and set for release on November 1. The price is, you would expect, massive. It costs $1,140/ £860 . https://www.techvenge.net/2018/10/huawei-mate-pro-20-features-will-make-you-one.html Mynd44 Lalasticlala Dominique |

https://cdn.pixabay.com/photo/2014/08/20/01/48/teenager-422197__340.jpg Young people are lonelier than all other age groups, according to recent findings from the BBC Loneliness Experiment. In a survey of more than 55,000 people, 40% of 16- to 24-year-olds reported feeling lonely often or very often. This trend for high youth loneliness has also been captured in other national surveys by the Office for National Statistics in 2017 and the Eden Project in 2015. Loneliness is typically associated with older generations, who may live alone or be less capable of getting out and about. But young people can experience loneliness despite having friends, being surrounded by people at school or having supportive parents. This indicates that youth loneliness is more about finding it difficult to connect with other people, as opposed to being alone. There are more opportunities today to connect with others than ever before: social media, instant messaging and even online gaming all allow people to share messages and experiences without being in the same place at the same time. But research has shown that high use of the internet is linked to loneliness, social anxiety and depression. Young people are the highest users of social media, and some have raised concerns about the impact that might be having on their mental health. For instance, in her book Alone Together, MIT psychologist Sherry Turkle has argued that people are beginning to favour communicating with others using new technologies over speaking face to face. She argues that online communication lacks intimacy, and though we might feel we are constantly connected or in the loop, it actually leaves us feeling alone. DEPENDS HOW YOU USE IT When my colleagues at the University of Chicago and I conducted a review of the research linking loneliness to internet use, we found that using the internet socially can lead to both increases and decreases in loneliness – depending on how it is used. When social technologies are used to connect with people and maintain existing relationships, they can reduce loneliness. But when internet use replaces offline interactions with others, it can increase feelings of loneliness. To fully understand the relationship between loneliness and social media, it’s important to be aware of how people behave when they are lonely. The BBC Loneliness Study found that 41% of people felt that loneliness can sometimes be a positive experience. Periods of time spent alone can be important to promote self-care, reflection and creativity. In another review, my colleagues and I argue that loneliness is an important and useful feeling, because it lets us know when we lack social support and prompts us to reconnect with others. But problems arise when our attempts to reach out to others are unsuccessful, and this is when loneliness is linked to poor mental and physical health. When people are lonely, it means they will seek ways to avoid being rejected or further isolated by others. This leads people to be particularly tuned into negative behaviours; for example, they will be more likely to notice feelings of anger and frustration in other people’s communications. https://cdn.pixabay.com/photo/2016/11/22/06/32/girl-1848478__340.jpg This focus on negative aspects of social communication can cause lonely people to remain quiet and reserved during social interactions. And if they remain lonely for a long period, they might avoid social gatherings altogether. These behaviours make lonely people more vulnerable when they use social technologies, because they are more likely to focus on negative information online, view content rather than share, and generally use social media in ways that continue to make them feel lonely – or makes those feelings even worse. CHANGING YOUR WAYS The BBC Loneliness Study showed that lonely people have more friendships that are online only, indicating that they may go online to feel connected and may avoid face to face interactions with people. But research suggests that this is not always the case; some people may spend time online to communicate with family or friends who live too far away to meet up in person. Young people who already feel lonely, are socially anxious, or have difficulties maintaining friendships are less likely to use social media in a positive and meaningful way. They may need support to change that, but it is possible to start by actively engaging with other people online, and avoiding spending too much time passively reading status updates or watching YouTube videos. Of course, spending long periods online without interacting with others can aggravate feelings of loneliness. Communicating with others face-to-face is important, and everyone needs to make time for that. But we cannot blame social media for high levels of loneliness among young people, because smart phones and social media can be used in ways that allow us to feel connected with others, make new friends and share our experiences. Young people who feel lonely can address this problem by changing the way they use social media, so that it supplements the time they spend with others – rather than replacing it. https://www.techvenge.com cc; Mynd44, Seun, Lalasticlala |
The Oneplus 6T launch date is rumored for October 17. The launch rumor is according to a screenshot from the company and an image that has popped up on Weibo recently which suggests Oneplus already sent out invites in India. Ahead of the launch, various leaks are beginning to pop up from different angles. The videos from @Onleaks and @Mysmartprice shows that its design will be similar to the previous Oneplus 6 except for new entrance of features such as the in-display fingerprint sensor and ditching of the headphone jack. Also, the video suggests there will be two camera lenses at the rear as opposed to the much speculated three lenses. Here is everything you need to know ahead of the much-anticipated phone. What is Oneplus 6T? Oneplus 6T is the next flagship smartphone from Oneplus. A successor to the very successful Oneplus 6, Oneplus started in 2013 and has mastered the act of releasing two new Android smartphones every year-eight in total- at impressive prices. The Oneplus 6T will be the latest addition to the exceptional phones Oneplus has been churning out in its short existence. The Oneplus 6 might the best phone from the company to date but we expect that to change immediately the "T" version of it makes it debut. Oneplus 6T Release Date At the moment, Oneplus has not confirmed the launch date of one of the most anticipated phone of 2018. But considering the pattern at which Oneplus has launched previous phones, which is one in the summer and one in the autumn, it is completely reasonable to assume the release date for the new smartphone to be November 2018. However, the company teased a screenshot and a recent circulation of an image on Weibo all point to an October 17 launch. ONEPLUS 6T PRICE One of the mysteries surrounding the Oneplus 6T is the price. Oneplus will be looking to keep its pricing low and constant as usual. The current price of the Oneplus 6 is $611.95 for the 6GB/64GB model and $677.28 for the 8GB/128GB, we are expecting the new phone to have a similar price, and may edge slightly higher. In the US, you can expect the Oneplus 6T to be $569 if the leak from Giztop is to be believed. Oneplus 6T Design and Display. We are not expecting anything new build or design to be seen in the Oneplus 6T but we certainly expect improvements in some areas such as the camera and the addition of few flagship features. Like we earlier stated, its design will be similar to the Oneplus 6 which is not hugely surprising, typically the "T" models are upgraded version of the previous release. The Oneplus 6 already runs on the lastest processor, has 18:9 display and a dual-camera at the rear. By adding this features as an addition to other display unlocking options such as Face Unlock, users will have the options to unlock the display in a way that is most efficient for them." Major manufacturers such as Samsung and Huawei has struggled to implement the feature and implementing it successfully will be a big win for Oneplus. The In-display fingerprint scanner will make the Oneplus 6T to be 0.45mm thicker than the Oneplus 6. ON 3.5mm HEADPHONES JACK Two years after Apple ditched the headphone jack, and Google did the same thing last year with the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, Oneplus has confirmed the 3.5mm headphone jack feature will be removed in the Oneplus 6T. In 2017, Oneplus conducted a poll and discovered 80% of users used the headphone jack regularly while another poll by the firm in 2018, revealed 59% users switching to wireless headsets. We are expecting Samsung to follow the trend very soon. ON WIRELESS CHARGING Oneplus main competitors have the wireless charging already so it's about time Oneplus join the trend as well. We are expecting it to debut in the new phone with the launch of Oneplus 6 hinting that the there will be wireless charging at some point in the future. ON PROCESSOR The Oneplus 6 is powered by the Snapdragon 845. We expect the same processor in the 6T. While there are rumors of 6T featuring the Snapdragon 855 due to possibly the success of Oneplus 6, we don't Snapdragon 855 phones until 2019. BATTERY The viral picture of the 6T on Weibo shows that it will have a larger and much-improved battery compared to its predecessor. The 6T is rumored to be packed with 3,700mAh. Remember that Oneplus 6 came with neither impressive nor disappointing 3,300mAh. CAMERA There is every possibility that the 6T will have a similar camera to the Oppo R17 or the Oppo R17 pro. The R17 has a 16MP and 5MP dual-lens pairing while the pro has three lenses, a 12MP between the f/1.5 and f/2.4 apertures, 20MP f/2.6 lens and a ToF 3D stereo lens. https://www.techvenge.com/2018/09/oneplus-6t.html Mynd44, lalasticala, seun |
TECHVENGE Earlier this month, Apple released a trio of new smartphones. As usual, TechInsights has done several teardowns of flagship phones to reveal how much it cost to build them but the latest teardown is on iPhone Xs Max arguably the most talked about phone right now. The cost analysis done by the same firm last year found that Apple will be set back by $395.44 to produce a 64-gigabyte iPhone X. Currently, the 256-gigabyte iPhone Xs Max sells for $1,249 in the US. The analysis by TechInsights found that the costliest part of the iPhone Xs Max to be $90.50 which is the 6.5-inch display that uses OLED technology. Also, Bob O'Donnell of TECHnalysis Research suggested Apple made the right decision to focus on delivering a larger-screened model this year economically. 'For a certain group of people, the whole thing is about the screen. It's driving the whole experience and it's what is making people excited about using the phone' Bob said. https://www.techvenge.com/2018/09/cost-iphone-xs-max.html cc mynd44 cc seun cc lalasticlala
