We are currently looking for an Automation Engineer for Tetra Pak West Africa, Nigeria Lagos based.


Overview of the Position:


The automation engineer would be actively responsible for design, implementation, testing and commissioning of automation solutions. The incumbent would be supporting the Market companies with developing automation strategies and executing automation projects. He would provide necessary technical support and service to our customers. He would also be expected to support for automation pre project costing and sales activities


Primary Responsibilities:

Coordination, promotion and sales of our automation products and services.
Development and commissioning of plant automation systems (hardware and software) as part of an overall production solution combined by process and automation
Coordination with Projects team
Technical support, commissioning and troubleshooting activities – remote and/or at site
Implementation of software upgrades
Knowledge of SQL databases, SQL Scripting, networks and windows environment
Prepare and perform FAT tests with end customers
Participate in writing and reviewing function diagrams and function specifications
Perform Hardware configuration, system setup and tests of configurations.
Participate and contribute in customer meetings
Create automation related documentation for projects.
Able to understand and review electrical drawings
Panel testing with panel vendors
Knowledge of field instrumentation
Automation network topologies
Participate in plant commissioning
Collect market info and create cluster PDNs
Data collection and reporting of automation install base
Drive automation upgrades sales
Carry out automation upgrades
Conduct automation training for customer personnel
Develop the automation Service Concept
Qualifications

BSC or BTech Degree in Engineering
Technical background
Food manufacturing experience is essential
Project knowledge
English language proficiency
Willingness to travel
2-3 years proven ability in automation engineering
Knowledge of SAP is an added advantage
PLC programming (Siemens & Allen Bradley) experience is critical

Duties and responsibilities

Amongst other duties, the Instrument Technician will;

Maintain, repair and optimize plant and associated devices in Packaging
Calibrate equipment according to maintenance best practice
Locate plant, Equipment, spares and relevant documentation/Systems
continuously improve (optimize) plant, process equipment and systems
Operate plant and process equipment Maintain a safe, Healthy and Risk Free Working Environment
Apply the VPO principles and Maintenance Best Practices
Contribute to Self and Team development and Communicate effectively in the Work place
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience

The occupant of this position should possess:

Minimum – HND/B.Eng or equivalent in Electrical Electronics Engineering or Instrumentation
Minimum of 2-3 years Routine electrical and Instrumentation maintenance experience on high speed packing lines
Experience or previous training on Siemen S7 PLC will be an added advantage
Computer Literate

Context of the Role
The role of automation engineer (Packaging) is responsible for driving and embedding best in class asset care and maintenance systems for all electrical and automation/electronics machinery on the hi-tech packaging lines.
Expertise in the electrical/electronics/automation engineering is a rare and scarce resource in Nigeria and there is high level of competition amongst oil, gas, telecom and manufacturing industries for the few engineers who specialised in this area.

Purpose of the Role
Lead and manage electrical, electronics and automation systems in the Brewery packaging lines to ensure maximum plant availability
Complements the Mechanical Engineering team on the packaging lines to ensure optimum output.
Plant maintenance of all PLCs and SCADA Systems on Planned Maintenance basis.
Plant maintenance High & Low Voltage electrical Systems in the Brewery Packaging lines.
Maintain all Electrical Drives and controls on the packaging.
Resolve all electrical/electronics/automation breakdowns and issues on the packaging lines.
Top Accountabilities
Drives the planned maintenance programme for all electrical, electronics and automation systems on the packaging lines – Benin has 4 packaging lines and Ogba 3 packaging lines.
Influence the choice of new technology adopted in all future packaging machines and plants.
Accountable for the routine maintenance of various hi-tech packaging equipment including Programmable Logic Computers (PLC) and SCADA systems on the Brewery packaging lines.
Identify and delivers all training needs for the electrical and electronics technicians on the job and coaching for identified instrumentation skill gaps.
Resolves all Automation and Electrical related tasks and breakdowns on the packaging lines to guarantee plant availability to deliver target volumes on an ongoing basis.
Maintain and execute audit plans for all statutory regulations and engineering standards for all Electrical and Automation Systems in packaging.
Qualifications and Experience
HND/University Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering. Master’s degree and/or professional membership with Nigerian Society of Engineers (COREN) may be an added advantage.
3-5 years’ experience in a brewing or FMCG manufacturing environment directly supporting Electrics, automation and PLC (Siemens Experience Preferred), SCADA and DCS.
Deep knowledge of new and evolving technology and wide range SCADA system versions and their applications with detailed knowledge of PLC Steps 5 and 7 and Programming.
Enhanced skills on Brewery HV/LV distribution systems and electrical drives control automation systems.
Working knowledge of Permit to Work (PTW) systems, with good asset care management skills
