Nairaland GeneralAbout The Founder Of MMM Including All His Criminal Activities Since 1989. by Tecnom3(op): 9:20pm On Dec 15, 2016
Sergey Panteleevich Mavrodi (Russian: Серге́й Пантелеевич Мавроди; born August 11, 1955) is a Russian criminal and a former deputy of the State Duma. He is the founder of the МММ series of pyramid schemes. In 2007 Sergei Mavrodi was found guilty in a Russian court of defrauding 10,000 investors out of 110 million rubles ($4.3 million).

In 1989 he founded MMM.

He was then elected to the State Duma, thereby obtaining parliamentary immunity. Mavrodi declared MMM bankrupt on December 22, 1997, then disappeared, and was on the run until his arrest in 2003.

In 1998 Mavrodi created Stock Generation, allegedly a classic pyramid scheme presented as a "virtual stock market game". The website ran from 1998 to early 2000. The Massachusetts district court initially found that U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission was unable to cite Stock Generation's founders and owners for securities violations. However, the United States Court of Appeals reversed this decision in 2001, concluding that the SEC alleged sufficient facts to state a triable claim. In 2003 the SEC obtained permanent injunctions against SG Ltd. and relief defendants SG Perfect and SG Trading, which profited from the disbursement of funds fraudulently gained by SG Ltd.

On April 28, 2007, a Moscow court sentenced him to four and a half years in a penal colony. The court also fined him 10,000 rubles ($390).

In January 2011, Mavrodi launched another pyramid scheme called MMM-2011, asking investors to buy so-called Mavro currency units. He frankly described it as a pyramid, adding "It is a naked scheme, nothing more ... People interact with each other and give each other money. For no reason!" Mavrodi said that his goal with MMM-2011 is to destroy the current financial system, which he considers unfair, which would allow something new to take its place. MMM-2011 was able to function openly as Ponzi schemes and financial pyramids are not illegal under Russian law. In May 2012 he froze the operation and announced that there would be no more payouts.

In 2011 he launched a similar scheme in India, called MMM India, again stating clearly that the vehicle is a pyramid.[16] He has also launched MMM in China. He was reported to be trying to expand his operations into Western Europe, Canada, and Latin America. As of September 2015 it had spread rapidly in South Africa with a claimed 1% per day or 30% per month interest rate scheme and warnings from both the South African and Russian Communist Parties for people not to participate in it. In early 2016, he continued the same model in Zimbabwe (the accounts were frozen in September 2016), and later, in Nigeria (accounts frozen in December, 2016).

Currently he is operating in Kenya after suspending operation in Nigeria.

Christianity EtcWhat Is Jesus Telling Us Here , What Does Being "Least In The Kingdom" Signify. by Tecnom3(op): 10:10pm On Dec 11, 2016
Matt 5:19 -So anyone who breaks one of the least of these commands and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever obeys them and teaches others to do so will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness goes beyond that of the experts in the law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

There are some commentators who says it signifies exclusion from the kingdom of heaven, ie. hell; whereas some argue that they remain in kingdom as least, meaning they remain saved in heaven. Which one is accurate? Is Christ giving a provision for small sins here or giving no provision at all?

Christianity EtcWhat Scriptures Is Paul Referring To In 1 Cor 15:4 by Tecnom3(op): 10:00pm On Dec 11, 2016
In 1 Cor, when Paul is laying out the the tradition of the resurrection to his readers, he lays out a tradition with his own testimony at the end.

1Cr 15:3-8 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also.

Foreign AffairsWhy Russians Wanted Donald Trump To Win. by Tecnom3(op): 9:24pm On Dec 11, 2016
Trump in general has been supportive of Putin and the Russian government, there are several specific policy reasons that they supported him.

Trump will weaken US commitment to NATO
While Trump in general has been supportive of Putin and the Russian government, there are several specific policy reasons that they supported him.

Trump will weaken US commitment to NATO

For Vladimir Putin, the election of Donald Trump may undermine the NATO military alliance. Trump has said that the U.S. would not automatically defend its treaty allies and that we might withdraw forces from Europe and Asia. This weakening of the U.S. commitment to NATO comes at a time when the military alliance is seeking to deter Russia from threatening to annex the Baltic nations, as it did the Crimea.

http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/richard-clarke-america-enemies-influencing-election-article-1.2725718

Trump will consider recognizing Crimea as part of Russia
Putin has rational motives for wanting Trump to win: Trump champions many foreign policies that Putin supports. Trump's most shocking, pro-Kremlin proposal is to "look into" recognition of Crimea as a part of Russia. President Barack Obama and nearly every member of Congress — Republican and Democrat — have rejected that idea vigorously. Only Afghanistan, Cuba, Nicaragua, North Korea, Syria and Venezuela have recognized Russia's annexation of Crimea. Naturally, Putin would love to see the United States join that list.

Trump has supported other Russian military actions, such as against Syria
Trump likely doesn’t know it, but his (absurd) idea that ISIS could mount a coup against the U.S. government from within the country is once again a gift to Putin. The Russian leader has been justifying his decision to send Russian forces to Syria on the basis that it protects Russian citizens from future terrorist attacks and the Russian government from destabilization.

Nairaland GeneralTop 12 Most Forbidden Places In The World You Never Knew by Tecnom3(op): 3:08pm On Dec 11, 2016
Forbidden fruit makes it all the more desirable to attain, right? Whether it’s a married woman who catches the wandering eye of a man or a piece of chocolate to a person wrought with diabetes or perhaps the deep end of a pool for a curious child who was specifically told not to tread there, we all love the thrill of having something that we’re not allowed to obtain.

This exhilaration for the forbidden feeds into the thrill of the chase for the adventurous. People who love courting danger relish in discovering things that are restricted, if only for the purpose of defying the odds and attaining them. This list of the most restricted places on earth would entice readers who love a challenge, simply to satisfy their curiosity and perhaps attempt to visit these specific places–all at their own risk of course!

Some places on the list, obtained from websites The Weather Channel and Kizaz, among others, are completely restricted to humans, while others are only accessible to government officials or royalty or the military or other persons with highfalutin titles.

12. Lascaux Caves, Southwest France

https://therichest1.imgix.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Frances-President-Nicolas-Sarkozy-and-his-wife-Carla-Bruni-Sarkozy-look-at-cave-paintings-as-they-visit-the-Lascaux-caves-for-the-70th-anniversary-of-their-discovery-in-Montignac-South-Western-France-on-September-12-2010.-R.jpg?auto=format&lossless=1&q=40&w=320&h=215&fit=crop

via:www.wodumedia.com

For history buffs, it would be an absolute dream come true to see the way of life of people who lived thousands of years ago. It’s a disappointment to many then, that the Lascaux Caves in Southwest France is on the restricted places list. The cave is said to have some of the most beautiful works of prehistoric art adorning its walls, art that dates back as far as 20,000 years. The caves were once opened to tourists, but closed again a few years later because the carbon dioxide that the crowds breathed out destroyed some of the paintings. Today, only a handful of scientists area allowed into the site.

11. Admax, Florence, Colorado

https://therichest2.imgix.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/article-0-1E07829300000578-884_964x598-e1428952616416.jpg?auto=format&lossless=1&q=40&w=320&h=187&fit=crop

via:www.dailymail.co.uk

Maximum security prisons are the most depressing kind because the prisoners are virtually barred from the outside world. Such is the case for Admax (Administrative Maximum Security), located in Florence, Colorado. It’s said to be a prison within a prison, so tight is the security in this three-story building. The most dangerous criminals are within its walls, specifically those who are prone to violence and escaping. The prisoners depressingly spend 23 hours a day within their cells and have practically no human contact.

10. Area 51, Groom Lake, Nevada

https://therichest3.imgix.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/2Q-1.jpg?auto=format&lossless=1&q=40&w=320&h=180&fit=crop
via:www.subterraneanbases.com

This list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the notorious Area 51 outside Las Vegas in Nevada. This military base has been serving whatever mysterious purposes it has for the US government since the 1950s and to this day, no one is completely sure what exactly it’s used for. And this has caused rumors to swirl incessantly. Some say it’s used to develop and test nuclear weapons. Others claim it houses UFOs that crash landed to earth decades ago. But whether we’ll really get to the bottom of it or not, we’ll never really know.

9. White House Situation Room, Washington DC

https://therichest3.imgix.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/63.jpeg.jpg?auto=format&lossless=1&q=40&w=320&h=213&fit=crop

via:www.whitehouse.gov

The only time we’ll see any action happening in the White House Situation room is in political or military-themed TV shows and movies. Otherwise, it’s closed off to the world. Located 50 feet below the West Wing, the only ones who are allowed into the secluded room are the President and a group of carefully handpicked advisors. Based on what we see in films, it’s in the Situation Room where life-or-death decisions are made regarding the country’s involvement in critical military efforts, hence, the place being off-limits.

8. Svalbard Global Seed Vault, Spitsbergen, Norway

https://therichest0.imgix.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/reference_frohvelv_svalbard_2.jpg?auto=format&lossless=1&q=40&w=320&h=176&fit=crop
via:glamox.com

Ever wondered what would happen if, by some natural calamity or earth-shattering warfare, the world runs out of natural resources and a famine ensues? Well, Svalbard Global Seed Vault in Norway is apparently the solution. The vault allegedly contains thousands upon thousands of seeds of every single type of plant all over the world. These seeds can be used to regrow the plants and provide almost the entire human population (or what’s left of it after the calamity) with decent food.

7. Ise Grand Shrine, Ise Japan

https://therichest3.imgix.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/photo-2-e1428953109586.jpg?auto=format&lossless=1&q=40&w=320&h=206&fit=crop
via:mostbeautifulplacesintheworld.org

Though Japan is thoroughly modern, it still has a firm grasp of its cultural and religious roots. One testament to this hold is the existence of Ise Grand Shrine, which is said to date back to 4 B.C. The country’s most sacred shrine, no one can enter the complex, save for the priests and priestesses of the imperial family. And the reason the grounds are so revered is because the shrine is supposedly home to the Yata no Kagami, or sacred mirror, one of the most important objects in the country.

6. Metro-2, Moscow, Russia

https://therichest2.imgix.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Metro-2-1.jpg?auto=format&lossless=1&q=40&w=320&h=200&fit=crop
via:unknownworld.co.uk

A place that may or may not actually exist is all the more intriguing. One such example is Metro-2 in Moscow, a rumored subway system in the city’s underground. The line of railways was supposedly built by dictator Joseph Stalin for top government officials and Russian secret service agents. And to add fuel to the fire, there’s also an alleged underground city near the Metro-2 and it can fit 30,000 people in the event of a war.

5. Mount Weather, Virginia

https://therichest2.imgix.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/bfskaj-e1428953277559.png?auto=format&lossless=1&q=40&w=320&h=121&fit=crop
via:www.subterraneanbases.com

In answer to the Sputnik satellite launched by the Soviet Union in the 1950s, the US built the Mount Weather Operations Center in Virginia, a few miles away from the nation’s capital. To put it bluntly, the center is a “doomsday” shelter, complete with its own radio and TV studio in the event that the president would need to make a broadcast after an attack. It’s said that regular authorities are not permitted into the premises; rather Mount Weather has its own police and fire stations.

4. Coca-Cola’s Recipe Vault, Georgia

https://therichest2.imgix.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/d1lwft0f0qzya1.cloudfront.jpg?auto=format&lossless=1&q=40&w=320&h=415&fit=crop
via:www.coca-colacompany.com

It’s but natural that the biggest soda manufacturer in the world would keep its recipe safely under lock and key. And this is why Coca-Cola has its very own recipe vault in Georgia. The recipe has long been fiercely guarded, leaving many to speculate about what magic it has to elicit such loyalty from customers. The vault is never opened and the recipe is not visible to those who tour the exhibit, where the famous vault is located.

3. North Sentinel Island, Andaman Islands, Bay of Bengal

https://therichest1.imgix.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/North_Sentinel_Island.jpg?auto=format&lossless=1&q=40&w=320&h=320&fit=crop

via:en.wikipedia.org

Believe it or not, there are still tribes of people out there who are almost completely cut off from the outside world, preferring to live and breed among themselves and are totally averse to change. Such is the case for the Sentinelese, who hail from the North Sentinel Island along the Bay of Bengal. According to the website Neatorama, the island has no natural harbors and is surrounded by jagged coral reefs, effectively keeping visitors out. The few attempts at contacting the tribe came at a cost, including a National Geographic film director getting shot in the leg with an arrow by a tribesman.

2. Vatican Secret Archives, Vatican, Italy

https://therichest0.imgix.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/2Q1.jpg?auto=format&lossless=1&q=40&w=320&h=214&fit=crop

via:http://www.cruxnow.com/

Those who are familiar with Dan Brown’s novel, Angels and Demons know that the Vatican has a secret archive and that it’s restricted to the public, unless your name is Robert Langdon, the book’s protagonist. In contrast to how the archive is depicted in the movie, the actual Vatican Secret Archives is quite antiquated, with metal lifts to bring you to the different floors that contain the papal documents, according to The Telegraph. The secretary to the archive prefecture admitted that there is a section that is completely off-limits, as it contains details on the personal affairs of the cardinals and documents on annulled marriages.

1. Room 39, Pyongyang, North Korea

https://therichest1.imgix.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Room-39-Pyongyang-North-Korea.png?auto=format&lossless=1&q=40&w=320&h=180&fit=crop
via:letviral.com

North Korea arguably tops the list of most restricted places. And you won’t get any more restricted than Room 39, said to be located in the ruling Workers’ Party building in the North Korean capital of Pyongyang. The infamous room is said to be the site of numerous criminal activities, such as illegal drug manufacturing, counterfeiting of US dollar bills, and financial fraud. An article in The Guardian states that North Korea denies any existence of such a room

Nairaland GeneralMeet The World's Luckiest Unluckiest Man Who Cheated Death 7 Times(PIC) by Tecnom3(op): 12:51pm On Dec 11, 2016
Frane Selak (born June 14, 1929) is a Croatian music teacher who has allegedly escaped death seven times, and afterward won the lottery in 2003, prompting journalists to dub him "the world's luckiest man" and "world's luckiest unluckiest man"

Selak's brushes with death started in January 1962 when he was riding a train through a cold, rainy canyon and the train flipped off the tracks and crashed in a river. Someone pulled Selak to safety, while 17 other unfortunate passengers drowned. Selak suffered a broken arm and hypothermia. The next year, during his first and only plane ride, he was blown out of a malfunctioning plane door and landed in a haystack; the plane crashed, killing 19 people. However, there is no report of any plane crash in Croatia in 1963. Three years after that, in 1966, a bus that he was riding skidded off the road and into a river, drowning four passengers. Selak swam to shore with a few cuts and bruises.

In 1970 his car caught fire as he was driving and he managed to escape before the fuel tank blew up. Three years later, in another driving incident, the engine of his car was doused with hot oil from a malfunctioning fuel pump, causing flames to shoot through the air vents. Selak's hair was completely singed in this incident, but he was otherwise unharmed. In 1995, he was struck by a bus in Zagreb, but sustained only minor injuries. In 1996 he eluded a head-on collision with a United Nations truck on a mountain curve by swerving into a guardrail, which gave way under the force of his car; he was ejected from the car when the door flew open, (he wasn't wearing a seatbelt) managed to hold onto a tree, and watched his car plummet down 90 metres (300 ft) into a gorge.

In 2003, two days after his 73rd birthday, Selak won €800,000 (US$1,110,000) in the lottery. At the time of his win, he also married for the fifth time. While he purchased two houses and a boat with his winnings, in 2010 he decided to give most of the remaining money away to relatives and friends after deciding to live a frugal lifestyle.

WebmastersTop Ten Things To Demand From A Great Web Host by Tecnom3(op): 8:25pm On Dec 01, 2016
Storing your website somewhere is like storing your prized vehicle in a public car park. You’ve got your brand new car and you need somewhere to store it.
The car park has to be convenient, well run, safe, and with plenty of space, to name a few necessary qualities. With the abundant choices available to today’s web consumer, combined with a growing volume of security threats, choosing the right host is possibly one of the most important business decisions a digital start-up has to make.

Needless to say, making the wrong decision can involve a lot of hassle down the line, as well as disgruntled customers who’ll lose faith in a brand they can’t access on demand. Here’s some key factors to take into consideration before making your choice.

(1) Enough Space
As with storing your snazzy car in a downtown car park, you need enough space. With web hosting, however, it’s a little more complex. Websites are continually growing and shifting in shape, despite the best intentions of the founder. As a rough guideline you might consider 250 MB to 1000 MB of space for the average business website. (OLI offers 1000 MB in the Value Pack Web Hosting).

(2) FTP Access
Some of the cheapest web hosts prohibit users from using FTP access, so that you are forced to use their branded site builders. Generally speaking this type of host is at the lower end of the scale and to be avoided, despite the allure of setting up a template style website in a few easy clicks. Even if your needs are humble, our advice is to allow the possibility for future growth by going with a web host who offers FTP as standard. No serious developer should be without it.

(3) Allowing Large Uploads
As with your central metropolitan car park, space costs money. But with the many discount hosts springing up (who make their money primarily on advertising), there can be limitations preventing you from uploading certain sized files, an incredibly annoying issue if you’re trying to add high-res images to your homepage, for example. Go with a reputable web host to avoid this type of annoyance. A good host allows you to upload large images without restraint.

(4) Reliability
Given the amount of variables on the internet, very few – if any – hosts can offer 100% uptime. That said, if you’re running a commercial venture, you obviously need to keep this to the minimum. Google is also looks at a site’s reliability and evidence suggests that websites which regularly drop offline appear lower in the rankings. There’s a third reason, too: your customers themselves with get increasingly frustrated with your brand if they find it’s impossible to access.

(5) Technical Support
This one is perhaps the most important. We’ve all experienced businesses with negligible support which takes days for a response. Choosing a host who answers support questions promptly and has a team overseeing the servers 24/7 is crucial for success.

(6) Shared or Dedicated Server
For many sites, shared hosting is no problem at all. Think of this as a public car park, in which your vehicle sits alongside a load of strangers cars, which isn’t generally a problem. However in certain cases, these spaces get too full. In order to maximize profit, some of the less desirable hosts will cram too many websites into the same space, which puts an overall strain on resources. Our advice is to start off with shared hosting, but find a host which offers dedicated hosting should you need it further down the line. Similarly, quiz them about the amount of sites they cluster together on shared hosting, and ensure they’re monitoring activity to ensure nobody is hogging more resources than their fair share. (Also a warning about hosts offering “unlimited” space, this is a flag that the servers may get too full at some point).

(7) SSL
SSL stands for ‘secure sockets layer’and is basically a secure hosting connection which is de rigeur for ecommerce sites. If you’re planning on selling goods and services via your website, ensure your host offers SSL functionality, which will mean your web address begins with a “https://” instead of “http://”.

(8 ) Experience
Choosing a host with at least several years of industry experience is also a wise decision. Many hosting companies come and go in a matter of years or even months, and the worst thing that could happen is to sign up with a host and then find out they’re going out of business.

(9) Datacenter Location
Choosing a host based in a stable country that speaks your language is a good move. Hosting your site in a datacenter that is located where the government is stable and electricity is bountiful helps ensure your services stay up and running.

(10) Cpanel Access
cPanel is the web’s most popular hosting account control panel for managing websites. Believe it not, though, some hosts choose to do without the cPanel. This can make basic maintenance and security tasks very difficult so our advice is to ensure that you choose a hosting provider includes full cPanel access.

The only way to make money blogging is by creating an atmosphere where your readers get to know you, like you, and then think you’re an authority worthy of buying from.

But why should you care if people like you?

A few weeks ago, I was given the assignment to write a case study on a certain website.
They’re famous for their sarcasm, irreverent humor, and their teasing. All of their product descriptions are hilarious, and many even poke fun at the products they’re trying to promote.

I read tons of these descriptions before I realized two hours of my life were gone forever. The personality of their site completely sucked me in, and that’s exactly what they count on.

Now, I check back almost every single day, partly to see their products, and partly to read the descriptions and have a good laugh.

In that same spirit, there are a few must-have features to put on your blog to create an atmosphere of community, cooperation, and character.

These following points are all features that I personally use in building my business blog.

Contact Me Form

You’re probably already doing this one – it’s pretty obvious that virtually every site up there has this going for them.

BUT…

Don’t be one of those lame “I’m definitely a newbie!” people who say “contact me at this email address” at the bottom of their Contact Me page.

I don’t know about you, but I’m MUCH less likely to contact a web owner if I can’t just fill in a quick contact form. I use the WP plugin Fast Secure Contact Form because it’s super easy.

In my experience, this is the most common way for potential clients and business partners contact an online business or web owner, and you can’t afford to miss out on income opportunities.

About Me Page

When I find an enjoyable blog, the About Me page is one of the first places I visit. I like reading people’s stories, and I like to see what their site is all about.

I’m guessing you’ve already slapped up a quick About Me page, but here’s how you’re going to make it better:

1. Don’t start out by talking about you.

Start with something attention grabbing that has to do with your blog’s purpose. Mine starts out like this:

“Whatever your passion or great idea is, I can show you how to get it online and make money.”

It’s simple, right to the point, and immediately grabs my target market by the eyelids and pulls them in.

2. Stick your story in the middle, and use it to reinforce your main points.

Remember, the purpose of your blog is to attract readers, keep them coming back, and eventually makes sales. Your story might bore some people (everyone thinks their own story is WAY more interesting than it really is), so stick that in the middle to reinforce the point of your blog.

A good About Me page creates trust between you and your reader, but also helps drive home the laser-focused objective of your blog.

3. Bring it home with a call to action

What better place on your blog to capture a lead or further your connection than right after you’ve laid out the entire purpose of your blog?

You could ask them to Like your Facebook Page, read more content, or opt-in for more information.

Connect With Me

Simple and to the point: download a plugin that gives you social media icons to put in a widget (I use Social Media Icons Widget. Fill out your links to include Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ as a bare minimum. Hopefully you’ll add YouTube and LinkedIn profiles eventually.
