Hello All,

I’ve been checking everyday for the last two months to get an appointment for my mother b1/b2 visa at the Abuja embassy. I am not able to see any dates, and I can only view the current month ( eg in March I could only see March but nothing ever is available) but also see that neither Lagos nor Abuja has any available dates. Yet, I am seeing people booking dates in October. Is this happening to others? When I asked the help desk about this , their response was pretty unhelpful as usual.

I’m in the similar boat. After 221g letter, it stated only that she needs a new appointment , no documents were missing. So I purchased a new MRV on the old system, but as dates were in 2026, I held off on booking an appointment as 221G would be valid for only a year. New website vendor told me to create an account in the new system.

It’s been 4 weeks, and created two tickets that keep being checked off resolved but no resolution given. DS-160 isn’t being accepted and they keep stating I should wait 2-3 days for the profile to be migrated.

At this point, I think I’ll just have to lose the previous mrv fee and pay for a new one ( third one now) and fill out a new DS 160, because the embassy I think has very unskilled people manning their help desk. I have worked in IT help support before, but I don’t think they even read your question.

I agree with your points except one - the Nigerian specialist abroad remark. Many nigerian doctors have come back home to establish but have always been frustrated and ended up simply running specialist hospitals. You should recall that anything foreign is viewed as superior in Nigeria, so even if you have a Trained Nigerian coming from abroad vs A Trained XYZ, it will be harder for the Nigerian to establish. This is fact, and a sad one.

Gbawe: Even health insurance is unlikely to give the "common man" access to this sort of hospital. I would not have bothered commenting on the deception of the OP, because that is what GEJ fans do in their quest to 'steal' achievements, but reasonable posters like you deserve to know the truth.

This is a Turkish private hospital purely for the rich and an example of the capitalist 'reform' of medicine that globalisation has brought. I.e a business model that essentially see any group , if professional and organised, setting up ultra-modern and well-staffed hospital anywhere in the world exclusively for the patronage of the rich. Very lucrative niche market delivery

This is precisely the same as how the previously uber traditional and conservative British NHS has embraced a new agenda of delivering outreach medical care in places like Dubai, Qatar et al for ridiculously rich clients who will pay a fortune for local treatment they previously travelled to the UK for. This model is not for ordinary Nigeria and has nothing to do with the Government.

This is a hospital, with origin in Turkey, built on a model which is as private and as elitist as such is. It is primarily situated in Abuja to take advantage of the super-rich who travel abroad to pay a fortune for treatment. Check out the medical staff yourself to see it is like 70% Turkish.

The rich too have to live so I think this is a positive development but I wonder why Nigerian Doctors in the diaspora, many very talented specialist who claim to love Nigeria, cannot do something like this. Can they not see the opportunity?
