So, let's go back to this picture.... I'll list the parts first, according to the number on the catalogue, then I'll show us what they really look like in real life
I really don't know, but they don't really call Bogie Axles the recommended name in Nigeria, well except for Companies ![]() The local name for a 24 Ton Bogie is Complete Tunnel Super 25 28 Ton Bogie is called Complete Tunnel Super 30 32 Ton Bogie is called Complete Tunnel Super 35 Weird, right? ![]() |
Okay, one more thing I'll like to let us know how to know the TONNAGE of a Bogie Axle The tonnage of a Bogie axle is dependent on the tonnage of its both (single) axles Okay, that may be hard to understand ![]() Think of it this way..... A Bogie Axle has Two Legs So, the Ton of a Bogie Axle is determined by the summing up the ton of the two legs. Now, Axles have different rated ton capacity. But the common ones we know are 1) 12 Ton axle ( The common name is Super 25 axle 2) 14 Ton axle ( The common name is Super 30 axle 3) 16 Ton axle ( The common name is Super 35 axle Now, remember we know that a Bogie Axle has two legs. So for a Bogie with (two) Super 25 legs, it would be a 24 Ton Bogie Axle (12 + 12) A Bogie with (two) Super 30 legs would be a 28 Ton Bogie Axle (14+14) A Bogie with (two) Super 35 legs would be a 32 Ton Bogie Axle (16+16) |
So, the Bogie axles come in different sizes, depending on the type of load it wants to carry I'll be explaining that as we progress, but first, let me show you all that comprises of a Bogie axle This is what the axle comprises of, and I'll show us the pictures of all of them
Personally for me, I like Bogies because they don't have much wahala. In a country filled with bad roads everywhere, I think I'll settle for the Bogie axle. Although, depending on the load the truck is going to be carrying, one would have to settle for the Tri axle And ohh, I forgot, another name for Bogie is called Tunnel or Tunnel Axle.
When building trailer bodies, especially in Nigeria, there are three types of Axle suspension we usually go for, depending on so many factors 1) Double Axle suspensions 2) Bogie Axle ( It is still a double axle too) 3) Tri axle suspension (The local name is called Langa-Langa or Kape-Kape ![]() This is an example of what a Bogie axle looks like...I'm sure we have seen them many times
