Very helpful...thanks much....am not particular abt any doctor...all I want is an affordable one...tnx once again. MiddyO: @ Tenic09
You can apply for your doctor's appointmevnt as early as possible, I think its just better to be prepared and not leave anything till the lat minute. I contacted my hospital as early as 9 weeks You can apply with your mom, and tell the V.O that she will help when the baby arrives. Your mom can also add her statement even if you state in your form that you or your husband will sponsor her. I added mine in my 'burden of proof' even though we listed my husband as the sponsor and it still helped.
As per your Doctor, i cant help with Dr Fagbohun, because I plan to use Elpaso in the future. You need to pay only $150 as registration fees to get your letter.
Hope this helps? |

Now I have a question and pls permit me... 1}When do i start seeking for the doctor's appointment letter when am likely to go for interview by dec/jan...cos I will be going with it to the embassy and I don't knw how soon the doctor replies 2}I read from one of d post on dis thread from a woman dat said she was denied of a visa cos she paid the doctor before coming to the embassy that they av stated severally that no payment shld be made b4 seeking for visa and somebody also told me here that paying the doctor is like pushing the vo to a tight corner and it makes dem deny some pple...pls does Dr fagboun gives appointment without payment? Or is dere any doc I can contact without paying...though I already read Dr fagboun doesn't but I need to Be sure.and I dnt want to risk paying and now get a better offer later.. 3)Am thinking of applying with my mum....does dis give me a better chance She has her own biz...do we include her statement or we shld just use only my hubby to cover hers too Pls,biko,ejoor....answer my question abeg....pity my condition....and also if anyone is just applying like me....let's rub minds...we can talk outta here...thnkx |

Anyway, if anyone wants ask a sound question, why should the person be afraid? Even the most patient person here will oneday get tired of repetitive questions coz there are some questions that just make you wonder if the person considers this thread to be a quick-fix or a network of consultants. There's no "professional" on the topic, that's why we are all here - for facts, info and learning. But we have to read don't we? |

I quite understand and agree to wat u said and its similar to wat I wrote too....its annoying truly to ask questions over and over again and av not insinuated that d question shld be answered and for anyone to stress herself on goin tru d pages to refer another person just in d name of answering a question.....my dear I read and read before I joined d family...and I always note d page where I stopped so as to knw where to start anytime I log in...I once asked a question upon all my wole soyinka reading and phema directed me to a page which was very useful and if anyone ask same question I will be glad to refer he/she cos I knw where it was discussed not by going out of my way to answer Just looking for a familiar and better way to relate with ourselves...thats all! Mwams: I agree that the thread is meant to be helpful, but surely, why should people keep asking questions that have been discussed time and again? it's only fair that people go through the thread and then ask for clarification or questions on information that they cannot find on the thread. It gets boring seeing the same questions each and every day. Anyone who is seriously seeking info should be able to read, and asking people to refer them to specific pages means that we should go back searching the thread just to direct them to the right page? I think that's expecting too much. |

Pls dear mamas in the house...dis thread is meant to be helpful and I think that is why we re all here...we thank and appreciate those mamas that has been giving vital info and am sure it has helped a lot of pple like me...but its getting to a point whereby one get scared to ask question...pls let's be calm with each others and I think if some pple find it difficult to read and ask repeated questions...d best thing is to ignore if u can't answer or refer d person to a page if u can, rather than all dis gururu and epa things..its sounds like jest to me" if u ignore a question or answer by saying "read all over"..its ok And for d person dat said she was sent back and her visa was cancelled...we shld av at least let her explain her own part and if its same with all d lies dats leads to refusal...pple can keep reading and learning from pple like her.. A proffessional today was once a learner and YES that's it..let's give room to be friendly with ourselves cos we might need help from someone outta here and we don't knw who dat cld be...thankx all...I stand to be corrected if dere is need for it... |

Also waiting for answer to this question...though I quiet understand that with ur hubby being the sponsor with all necessary document and of course a pretty statement of account that can cover ur bills...its ok...but wat abt a new enterprenuer or housewife but also with the help of hubby...can dere be any issue?.. Vivi14: Thanks for responding.
Do you think I would have issues as a housewife/ new entrepreneur, I see that they keep asking people where they work. I hope that won't affect the chances of getting a visa.
Also, how long do people usually plan to be in the US for when having a baby? Is 3 months too short? Considering you have to get a new passport and Nigerian Visa to travel?
Thanks again |

Tnx......I was even told changing my name in abuja now might take close to 4_5 month before I can get d new passport cos of the new policy...am afraid that is not wat I want now cos I don't want anything to affect the application...if only I can be rest assured that I will get the passport before december so every thing can go inline with my time.. I also called an immigration officer today if its possible for me to renew my passport now since its still next year feb before it expires and he told me definitely...thinking maybe I shld still leave tthe change of name for now since someone here said it doesn't matter if myself and hubby av same name or not just backing it up with enough evidence.. My question now is "does it show to dem at the embassy which status one belong on the passport or they don't know since its not written on the passport cos its called E Passport( I.E Miss or Mrs) mabels: Congrats luxury.
@tenic09. I wud advise u change ur name to ur husband's, and to do that since you ve done a change of name b4, u ll be needing some documents. When my step sister did hers, the following documents were asked from her Her divorce paper, (don't forget u can get anything in naija) The present marriage cert News paper publication for change of name Court affidavit And the other normal documents. Getting ur passport might take time cos change of name takes more time than d normal passport renewal and cos of the new approving madam (officer)there. |

Tnx...my major problem abt my passort is this... In jan 2009 I applied for a visa at the uk embassy and I was denied of it cos of fake acc details given to me by someone that gave me invitation letter which affected me.. In 2010 I tried island embassy(dublin)which the agent that helped me then advised I change my surname claiming am married stating reason that uk and dublin embassies av connections togther...that I av to change that passport that they refused me on and also change my surname claiming am married...as I don't know anything then so I had do wat he asked me to do.. I went to abuja...changed the surname and that is still the present passport I have that will expire soon...my hubby's name is diff from mine and if he has to be the sponsor I will be happy abt it cos he has all it takes on his document to help me to a point and interview does the rest....Now if he sponsors and we have diff names...won't my own passport indicate married to another name/the name I used in 2010 which its not his/i know av made a big mistake by changing my name in the first place but trust me I did it out of little or no knowlegde... GenoMI: @tecnic09 Who will be acting as your sponsor? Yourself or your hubby? If it is your hubby then you will need his statement of accounts, proof of employment/source of income etc. I don't think it's such a problem that your business is not yet registered, you can simply explain to the VO if asked what you do that you do small scale buying and selling and that your hubby is the main sponsor.
But if you will be sponsoring yourself then yes, you will need to show proof of income, be able to account for the funds in your account, prove that you have enough to sufficiently cover the birthing project, prove you have strong ties here in Naija etc etc
my hubby has been to US but the major problem is we don't av thesame name on our passport.. I'm assuming this means your passport still carries your maiden name? This is not a problem at all as discussed on this forum several times, as long as you have your marriage certificate. I guess you can also carry your affidavit for change of name, and newspaper page showing your marriage announcement. Hope this helps.
I seriously need help towards the application Please don't be soo worried / anxious, the application is not as hard as you think at all and it's something you can do by yourself - as @Tvegas said you don't need an agent. Any other questions you have I'm sure the house will be happy to help out in any way. |

Am now happy as all these comment re giving ways......hmmmm...am already writing them down....the issue is just that I run a business of my own but I don't av a registered name yet...I also av a dubai in and out visa on my present passport and also a dublin visa which was denied some years back....also my passport wld expire next year feb..which I can't apply on the present passport untill I renew it and that time I will be 6months gone by then....my hubby has been to US but the major problem is we don't av thesame name on our passport...I seriously need help towards the application Tvegas: Since you've read through I feel obliged to also respond. Paying your bill before the interview doesn't guarantee a visa, it has worked for some and it didn't work for some. The key thing is that the VO must be convinced that you are qualified for a NIV before anything. Therefore your strong ties to Nigeria and performance during the interview is what you should focus on.
I will advise you to personally package your application as 3rd parties can make costly errors that will tarnish your record for life. An agent once told me to put married in my form while I was single. Apart from some certain types of Visa you don't need an agent's help. If you have further questions post them here and let's tackle them so that others can learn. And like @mummybee said "Thou shalt know the proofs and the proofs shall set you free" |

I will do that now....am applying alone...tnx a bunch mummybee: @tenic09 I see u've really read a lot on this thread. Well, paying hospital bills, or accommodation bill or whatsoever doesn't guarantee ur Visa approval. Its like u're pushing the VO to a tight corner and trust me dat kain tin fit vex dem. When u're not sure of getting d visa, y go ahead to pay bills? Are you applying alone or with hubby? Pls stil go ahead to read d rest of the pages or click @PhEma's post 2 see her 'burden of proof'.
